Candace knew that feel, Jake. She knew it well. But she wasn't going to admit it to you. "Practice." Was all the advice she would be giving this brat of a child. Candace rolled her shoulders a bit and stood firmly in place. "You want me to use my weapon on you that badly, huh?"

Candace laughed and finally summoned Atropos. "You need to lighten up, kid. Besides look how pretty she is."

Candace actually laughed at Jake's command. Not only did she laugh but she doubled over with her laughter, holding out a hand for him to hold on a second while she composed herself after his terribly hilarious joke. "Oh god. Hold on. Hang on a second." She had to tell someone. Anyone.



He would have the best response to this. She pocketed her phone and sighed in an effort to calm herself.

And then she ran straight for Jake, her speed boosted with Atropos summoned, and raised her knee when she was close enough. Her goal was to get him in the stomach, whether she got him elsewhere...she didn't feel bad for once.

"You okay, kid?" Candace stood off to one side while he doubled over coughing, giving him a moment to recover.

Candace snorted. "Good, because I wasn't offering it."

She offered him the most pleasant smile as the boy glared at her. "Something wrong? Do you need a doctor? I know of a really good one." Though Jake might not appreciate The Doctor as much as Candace did. She jumped again, this time literally kicking his a** to hopefully send him forward.

She was toying with him now, a cat with a mouse.

As the illusion started up, and shadowy tendrils snaked their way towards the mist hunter, Jake rushed forward, striking at her.

His threat that she'd regret anything made her laugh though not as hard as telling her to learn how to use her weapon. Candace was grinning again, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "If you've paid any attention you'll notice I've only hit you maybe..twice?" She waved a hand dismissively at him. Her shield was feeling some strain, and she would call it quits soon, but this was too fun. "I don't regret things, boy. And I certainly don't lose. It was something she took pride in, actually. In all the time Candace had been at Deus she had only ever lost three spars; one to Clarice she knew she would lose anyway, Robert, and then finally Gale. If Jake won it would only be because she was letting him. This had simply become a fun game of 'how much can I piss this kid off'.

His reactions were quite pleasing. He was just so tense, so easily set off by even the slightest of comments.

Candace watched him use his charge successfully this time, batting at one of the smoky tendrils until Jake came at her. She grinned, letting him hit her without even so much as raising an arm in defense. The sting of a blade cutting her did hurt but she refused to let this boy know it, he would not see her flinch more than a hiss of pain and a harmless elbow to his chest to get him off her.

The taunt got him a smirk. Her doctor visits weren't usually because she was hurt, Jake. Candace grabbed him by the arm in a firm grip and spun on her heel with him, throwing the boy as she released him and following close behind with a sweep of Atropos' bladed boot across his legs to knock him down. As he fell she would grab one of his arms and hold it behind him while she pinned him to the ground with a boot against his back just as she had in the hall, only now she held his arm at an uncomfortable angle. "I could dislocate your arm right now and make you be the one who needs to see a doctor." Candace told him cheerfully before she let him go and unsummoned her weapon, walking away to pick up her coat and put it back on.

"Well, that was fun! I'm going to stop now before I accidentally knock you unconscious. Though I do have some advice," Candace flashed Jake an unkind smile. "Learn some ******** respect, first of all. You catch more flies with honey and disrespecting the wrong people will get you into serious trouble. Second, you need to lighten up and not let people piss you off so easily. Someone like me will take advantage of it. Get a hold of your temper." Waving a hand dismissively at the boy, Candace started to walk away. "Now if you'll excuse me, I think I will pay my doctor a visit."
