The rest of the world was just noise for the moment, as ********* merely remained with the fallen senshi. She knew the truth about Zidek, but it didn't stop her from trying in vain to nudge him back to life somehow.
The angry shouts from the General, the approaching sirens, all fell upon ********* deaf ears. Even if she noticed the sirens, the feline possibly did not even need to flee. After all, she was merely a cat. The General and the Eternal Senshi were both more likely to be given grief over the dead body.
Eventually, a pair of sad green eyes turned to look at Athene. She said nothing.

General Painite's pride told her to keep fighting, to end things, but she knew that she could not be caught on the scene with the other two. At least, not with the senshi. Painite would be pinpointed as the bad guy, and that was not something she could have in the papers.
Not yet.
She had her own goals, and her own time table. being caught with a dead body and a do-gooder, and somehow having the tables turned on her as they always seemed to be, was a risk she could not take. So she snarled and let the two deal with the dead senshi, taking comfort in the fact that the battle hadn't been a total loss.
"I'll treat you both to the same, the next time we meet," she hissed, before she vanished.

The sirens were enough to make the Nega-General teleport out; the Destiny City Police force not likely to distinguish between either side.
Although Athene knew that he couldn’t stay and take the chance that the sirens weren’t heading in their direction any more than the Nega-General had been able to, the new eternal wasn’t able to bring himself to look away from ********* what felt like a long moment grey eyes flecked with green stared back at the green eyes of the guardian cat, before Athene made himself walk the remaining steps separating them.
Even though part of him had known what the stillness from the other senshi had meant, the dark-haired senshi’s subconscious had still tried to deny the truth. A truth that Athene confronted with the cold reality could no longer deny – the other senshi was dead.
And it was totally his fault, because the other senshi would never have had to step in if only he’d been stronger. The Nega-General may have struck the fatal blows, but it was his weakness that had robbed the unknown senshi of their happy ending.
It was that guilt, the feeling of being directly responsible for someone else’s death that struck the dark-haired senshi like a lance to the heart and with a choked off sob Athene turned and fled.
