Rochelle settled down next to Bereck, refusing to comment on his inward hiss or the glare he'd leveled at the incoming crimson. Oh, she heard Kibeth's response, felt some of the irritation drain from her body when that dragonet drifted off to sleep. The glasscrafter leaned back and patted at Bereck's knee in the same sort of fashion would a child would to an upset parent.
Both hands went up to cup her mouth like a megaphone when C'tis decided to be all awkward in the middle of the almost conversation. "Oi!" She called out, careful to keep herself from being so loud as to wake the baby. "Come sit down, C'tis. You don't have to stand guard."

Berath assured the crimson, though her voice did betray a hint of worry. And Hyweth did have other hatchlings... that was a bad thought, a nasty one. She still hadn't had any right to steal.... But it hadn't been stealing, because they weren't possessions, they'd been through that. Hadn't had any right to lie then? To hide the truth or, at least, to allow herself to forget to mention it. However she worded it though it had obviously been wrong. She hoped that Malcarreth and Kibeth forgot, were allowed to forget by their riders and that they didn't tell Belcarrath about this. Still focusing on breathing normally Bereck raised a hand, trying to signal something like 'I'm fine' to Rochelle even as he slumped back against Berath. "Just tired," he managed after a few moments, which was a blatant lie. His only real hope was that it was blatant enough that Rochelle would know he knew she knew he was lying, and wouldn't argue the point. Malcarreth huffed derisively at Hyweth, but the effect was slightly ruined by him yawning again half way through. If only he could persuade C'tis to leave... if only C'tis could persuade the others to leave. They could go together, all of them, and live where respect and rank were earned by your deeds. C'tis replied, his mental voice bitterly resigned. And he wouldn't go without Aleck; Rochelle wouldn't either. Rochelle could have whatever she wanted anyway. Rochelle was valued as much as a brownrider, at the very least.
C'tis turned to face her, lips pursed. "I didn't think I was invited to the party," he responded, jerking a thumb at Bereck. No sooner had he done this then he was assaulted. Firelizards. Firelizards everywhere! Exclaiming expletives C'tis raised an arm to guard his face from battering wings and paws and tried to move away from the faire. A few moments later he found that they had herded him quite effectively over to the other side of Rochelle.
"Sit," Bereck instructed tightly, "I do not appreciate being loomed over."
C'tis scowled, but sat. The firelizards settled immediately... settled on him. C'tis stroked one of the blues and, still scowling, muttered; "I suppose my invitation must have got lost in the post; there wasn't any need to be so aggressive in the follow up."

Perhaps if I am to have another clutch ever, you will help me with those, as well? Hyweth felt guilty for having been so angry. Berath should have been shelled crimson, she thought. The green then would have had her wish. The least she could do was make it more bearable. The crimson paused, returning her gaze to Malcarreth.
Her tail twitched irritably. I cannot promise that all colors will be viewed as equal by those who matter, she said, But I do not see why you are any less important than any other. Hyweth had experienced some amount of feeling insuffient herself, though she couldn't remember the circumstances. I do not control what riders think, or what other dragons think. I believe, though-- and here the crimson paused, that if any dragons can break through to those creating the limitations, it would be...Berath's clutch. Yes.
She did not like the fact that Malcarreth would have liked to be stolen by the revolutionists. She had wanted to join in the Search for them. Perhaps you will guide the Weyr in revolutionist thoughts, the crimson offered with a flick of her tail. There are some that would follow.

The awkward part of it all was the very large red future in front of her in the form of Hyweth. Her tail flicked and it did not appear as if Malcarreth looked altogether pleased to be talking with them still. So she looked away and to Bereck instead, despite stealing a few glances in the adult dragons direction.
"You should nap more," is all she says before C'tis became snarky. She frowned and opened her mouth to respond when Bereck ordered his flits on the younger man. The glasscrafter squeaked, her little hands flailing in the air. "Bereck! What are you doing? He's already got a big scratch down half his face!" Scars were all very dashing and lovely but C'tis didn't need anymore just yet. Rochelle huffed and scooted over towards the blue rider, shooing some of the firelizards from his arm and shoulder.
"Are the dragons still arguing? Kibeth likes to think that she's big and tough right now but she sleeps very easily. Is the other crimson still being ... uhm. Herself?" Hyweth was eyed once again. Rochelle leans against C'tis anyway, cheek to his shoulder and shoulder to his arm, her head half tilted up to peer at him from under a mess of bangs."And you're always invited to my parties. Open invitation. You're not going to get a request each time, that's just needy of me and I don't do that. Even if my favorite healer is around and you two don't get along."

Bereck's reply was a vague grumbly humph. "I'm fine," he repeated tightly, glancing at Rochelle before closing his eyes again. "And the flitts wouldn't hurt him. I don't make make work for myself." Short phrases were easier to get out steadily; stick with those for now. Berath replied without hesitation, her eyes brightening just a shade or two. She remembered through Bereck that she had been hesitant to help Hyweth with the hatchlings' clutch, that she had only done it because of the desperation to still be useful that had surged through him and brought him to ask that of her. It was different now though; she had her hatchlings, looking after other eggs need not be painful. Malcarreth's nostrils flared; not quite another snort, but a display of disbelief all the same. He didn't quite understand it all himself yet but he felt C'tis' understanding, his certainty. Yawning again the blue snuggled closer to his sister, pondering his next words for a few moments before leaping in right away. C'tis scowled at Bereck's comments but resisted the urge to snap at him; no point arguing with somebody who looked that terrible... and Rochelle and Aleck would not be pleased if he made the man damage himself somehow. He might now be (fairly) confident that they both liked him, but to say that they liked the healer a lot more was to say that winter in Telgar was a bit chilly. Before he could spiral too far down into bitter paranoid thoughts, Rochelle decided to attach herself to him. C'tis tensed for a moment, eyes flicking around... and then relaxed. Why should he care if anyone saw him sitting close to a friend? A very attractive friend not wearing a lot...okayenoughofthatthinkaboutsomethingelse! "Not arguing," C'tis responded after brief pause. "Berath just offered to help Hyweth in future - so far as I gather through Mal - and Mal is talking to Hyweth about...." Oh, this had been a topic he had been avoiding. s**t. Well he couldn't do a lot about it now. C'tis looked down at the friendly brown curled up in his lap and started to stroke its smooth hide. "Colour hierarchy. Hyweth thinks that Berath's clutch might be the ones to make those in power see sense... Mal disagrees. He thinks if we're going to get a fair chance we need to join the revolution, or find likeminded people to make an entirely new start." He couldn't look at Rochelle right now, too much bitterness and anger was rolling in his stomach. It wasn't her fault, and he didn't want to direct any of his venom at her just because she had got lucky. That was much easier said than done but she was his friend, and so he was going to try.

You and yours are very kind, Hyweth said gratefully. I will let mine know of this. The crimson was aware of her rider's hesitance for asking for aid; perhaps she would make Hatteth aware of this. Maybe he would tell J'nes, and they would no longer have to worry about it.
Hyweth turned her attention back to Malcarreth, studying him thoughtfully. Perhaps you are right, she agreed, I can see why they would be more reluctant to allow change, after seeing dragons at their full potential, she paused, considering his words. Of course, she said Now, I think, it is time for rest. Then you can make decisions. Perhaps you will bring those seperated by sides together. We will have to see, when the time comes.
And whatever happened, when that time came, Hyweth was sure she would be proud of her clutch. She turned her gaze onto C'tis, and then Rochelle, snorting as she made to leave. She would trust their riders to care for them.
