Jude sort of stared at the text that Eva had sent him.

What. The. Hell.

Just what the hell.

After a couple of seconds he sent one back.

Kaiyumi
Why is it going to explode? Also are you drunk? And ... um... Merry Christmas, I guess? ... ...

Jude has been successfully confused. Thanks Eva. Thanks.

It took Wilson a few moments to realize that what he had just read was actually read. It took him another moment to scrutinize the message before sending a text back. B|a

Starring at Eva in a mix of horror and amusement, his smile turned into a little coy grin. He'd watch her before intervening, making sure she didn't do anything outrageously stupid. All in all, she was just having a good time - a very drunken one. Hopefully she'd learn her limits from this little excursion.

"Well...I can't really say no to that face, can I?" He teased, poking her nose playfully.

Then he ordered another rum and coke. He'd get water eventually...

As her phone buzzed with replies, Eva squinted at the screen, trying to read her new texts with some obvious difficulty. The only one that she managed to grasp right away was Robert's. However, instead of texting back a reply, it seemed as if she had decided to reply aloud, regardless of whether or not the man was present.

"I am not jacked up or wasted I don't even know what that meeeeeans!" Pouting, she lay her head down on the table but continued to keep her cellphone in view, "I'm totally not wasted, I'm nottt...am I, big bro? I just feel really warm and brave right now is all."

She turned her wide blue eyes to Lex, and then paused, a grin curling on her lips as an idea dawned on her. Suddenly bolting upright, her fingers began to fly over her cell's keys again. "SO BRAVE, in fact, that I'm going to text Caelius and tell him exactly what I think about him!"

Eva had already gotten a good portion of the text done:

calis yur SUCH A JRK were ou jst born wihtout a hart or are you jsust an ice quen STOP BIENG AN a** OT EVYONE OK ok mary chritsmas

...close enough. Her finger hovered over the "send" button.

It was instantaneous, like the moment a spark caught and a fire blazed. Lex's arm hand snapped out and grabbed the phone, then returned to him as he read the message, horrified even in his slightly buzzed state. She would be completely and absolutely dead if she sent this.

He hit the 'clear' button and pocketed the phone, then gave Eva a hard look."You're completely wasted - did you even read what you were about to send to you division leader? Gale stepping up would have been for nothing if you hurt the princess' ego." His frown turned into a little smile, laughing lightly. "We should get you some water, we need to leave."

He hailed the waitress over, ordering a pitcher of water for Eva. It wouldn't get all the alcohol out of her system, but she would at least be able to walk back to the portal...hopefully.

"Now, you sit here and drink that all up, okay sweetie? I'll go pay our tab." His voice was firm as he stood up, ruffling her hair before following the waitress to the back.

He'd be back in...half an hour, tops.

She didn't even flinch when Lex snatched the phone away from her. In fact, she didn't even seem to realize what had just happened, staring blankly at her now-empty hand. Slowly, she clenched and unclenched her fingers, as if trying to determine how on earth her phone had magically disappeared...

Yeah, she was pretty out of it. It wasn't until she glanced up at Lex that she realized what had happened, and she let out a little pout. "I'm just...telling him the truth!" She protested, stumbling a little over her words. Then she sighed and dropped her voice to a grumble. "But I don't want anything to happen to Gale. You're right about that, at least."

Even in her drunken state, she knew better than to put a friend in danger on purpose. She still looked a little sullen when the waitress arrived with a pitcher of water, but gave Lex a small smile and shot him a wide-eyed glance when he went off to pay the tab. "Okay. Use protection."

And then she proceeded to down glass after glass of water.

No one heard that, right? Dear God, Lex really hoped no one heard Eva utter those words - and if they did hear them, he prayed they were so drunk they just laughed themselves out of earshot. He wasn't too fond of leaving the freshly turned twenty-one year old behind on her own, but...

Well, she was a Hunter. If she could fend off monsters and demons and what have you, she could obviously fend off a few normal human creeps. Meanwhile, Lex has business that needed attending.

It had taken fifteen minutes for everything to get settled, and the Lex made sure he tipped the girl well. With cash, of course - servers lived off their tips, unfortunately, and he wasn't going to be the inconsiderate tool that didn't tip. He did have standards, after all.

Looking slightly more ruffled than he had when he'd left, Lex took Eva gently by the arm - making sure to grab their bags first - and leading her out of the bar. It was time to get some actual food in the girl's stomach and put her to bed, and probably leave some pain killers at her bedside. Poor girl; at least she'd learned her limits.

"You said you needed to get Robert something still, right?"

By the time Lex returned, Eva was feeling...well, not fully awake obviously, but maybe a liiiiittle clearer now that she had downed a good half dozen glasses of water or so. She obediently got up when she felt the man take her arm, sleepily staggering out of the bar with him. At the question, she gave a small nod of her head. "Mmhmmm! I just don't know what to get for him, you know? I mean...clothes don't seem to be an option. He's a big guy, but really, he just reminds me of a teddy bear. Still a kid at heart, and--"

Oh. Oh. Eva suddenly stopped walking, her eyes growing round as she took a few steps back and peered through the window of the toy store. There was a long, drawn out pause, and then she plastered herself against the window, pressing her face up against it.

"That's it right there! That's the perfect gift!"

And before Lex could say anything, she sprinted into the store and tackled the two meter tall dinosaur plushie.

Lex was completely speechless, staring at Eva as she pressed herself against the toy store window, and then tackled - actually tackled - the giant plushie. He knew already that there was no talking her out of it, even if she were sober. She obviously had to have it, for Robert.

Lex didn't know Robert, but hopefully he at least appreciated what the little woman was doing for him. Following Eva into the store after blinking a few times to get out of his daze, Lex had to elbow through a few lines just to get to the girl. Toy shopping and it was almost Christmas...not their best idea. Oh well. He shrugged and picked up the dinosaur, handing Eva their bags. They played the waiting game, and finally made it to the register, where the young woman paid up with jumbled words and a huge grin. Once they'd squeezed out and started walking down the street again, Lex started searching for a food cart, or a 24 hour food place. Something that would keep Eva from tripping and giggling in the middle of the New York sidewalks.

Seeign a Taco Bell (dear God, why) in the distance, Lex took Eva's hand and started to head for it, until the passed by a leather shop.

<< Whelp! Stop there and get gloves! >>

< Why? >

<< So you don't have to wipe me down with your scarf while practicing, fool. >>

For once, Regal actually had a good idea. "Mind if I step in here really quick? I won't be long, I promise." He asked, smiling gently. Of course she didn't mind, it was Eva. As soon as he got confirmation, he stepped into the shop and found the gloved he'd need - a nice dark leather with the middle and index fingers removed. Trigger gloves, the price tag said. He paid for them eagerly, and was out of the shop as fast as he could.

"So...Taco Bell?"

Lex would come out for the leather store to find Eva hugging the giant dinosaur plushie, her face buried in its chest. What was she doing? ...Just being a slightly tipsy Eva, clearly. "Taco Bell sounds good," She mumbled in reply, her voice muffled by the plush, "I like tacos. And then we go home, right?"

Mmm, home. While Deus Ex was not the most welcoming of places, the young woman was really starting to get sleepy, and she was really beginning to miss her bed. The plush wasn't actually a bad bed substitute, but there would definitely be a lot of questions if Eva woke up the next morning with a hangover on the streets of New York...in the arms of a dinosaur.

Not that Lex would probably let that happen, but still. Gifts in hand, she toddled towards the Taco Bell so that they could grab some food before heading back.

"Yeah...that'd be nice." Lex smiled, following Eva with an easy, if not a little wayward, stride. Maybe he should have had some of that water too. The Taco Bell would clear that right up, hopefully, along with the large drink he'd filled with as much water as he could. It wasn't great food, but it did the job.

"Okay, time to head home and get you to bed." He stated, taking their trash and getting up to dump it. The day had been a good and long one, and they'd had their fun - but they really needed to get back to get some kind of sleep.

Taking her arm again, Lex lead them to the portal site and got them through, leading Eva to the dorms. "Lead the way, princess." He chuckled, ready to drop her bags off. His arms were going to be screaming in the morning.

After a long, fun day of shopping and er, experiences with drinking, Eva was really ready to pass out. When they arrived back at Deus Ex, she gave a little nod and a grin at Lex. "Aye aye, sir! This way, this way!"

She stumbled a little (a lot) on her way back to the dorms, but somehow managed to keep herself relatively upright aside from that. When they reached her room, she moved to take the gifts and set them on the floor inside before trotting back out. The dinosaur took a look more effort, but with some help, she managed to cram it inside as well.

And then came the hug. Sleepy, drunken, but affectionate nonetheless. "Thank you for today, Lex. You're the best big bro ever." For a moment, it seemed like she had fallen asleep as she fell silent and did not release him...but then she drew back with a yawn and a smile. "Good night! Get lots of rest, okay?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 07, 2013 11:25 pm

Embracing Eva back, Lex took a moment to sigh with a real smile, rubbing Eva's back - which might have sent her to sleep (whoops), but she came back and was still smiling, telling him to have a good night. Oh, what a morning she had ahead of her tomorrow...

"Alright. Come by tomorrow for your phone, room 172." He held the phone up, reminding her that he still had it, and wasn't giving it back until she was sober. Honestly, texting Caelius...

Well, he'd done stupider things while drunk.

"G'night, sweetie. See you in the morning."
