makes people like me seem a little out of place talking to army vets but ill be underwater not seeing any form of daylight or fresh air for months at a time. all i get is some email that the ETs download when they know its safe and the pings that i am going to be listening to. so enjoy your fresh air sweatdrop i admire what you guys do out there though and if i was able, i would do a tour out there so i could help out. they send some navy men out there from A schools but they dont have enough submariners for them to do that

Edmund_Cole mono_chroma Does anyone else feel odd wearing jeans after being in the service? I've never grown out of the way my cammies felt. I wear cargos almost everyday mrgreen i am not in the service yet, future rifleman though.i can't stand not wearing cammies and a t-shirt.even it extreme cold or heat(i have a desert pair for heat,veitnam-era woodland for cold).although, not wearing some sort of jacket or coat with them in the cold is a bad idea....*sneezes*

IndefiniteMatter paintballtrooper wow thats true god bless the usa and the troops fighting for it Indeed it's very true. I remember many times in both Iraq and Afghanistan that I have gone days without taking a bath, etc. It was very annoying especially with the hot weather and whatnot, but when we did get to bathe it was heaven. yeah i remember it being hot there too so you would sweat it was just ugh but when the showers came i was in there taking a nice cool shower or bath i hate civillans who judge us when we are only following orders to go in and liberate two countrys one was a dictatorship and the other i dunno what to call it oh i need to make a comment. that was very nice

That is a true testament to what it feels like to be a soldier. I had an awesome e-mail about santa and a soldier, but I can't find it. it was really moving and showed how much people like us sacrafice for our loved ones.

It sure is amazing what we take for granted. we don't know what we have until it is taken away. a nice warm shower, and a good home baked meal, all turned into ducking bullets and hoping you get to the next meal. I just really think we are blessed for those soldiers willing to sacrifice comfort to keep us comfortable.

All I could think about while I read that is my good friend and my best friend's husband, both are over in Iraq. They just passed the half way point in their year long deployment but because of what Congress is fighting right now there is an 80% chance they will be extended. That is so true it really breaks my heart. I do catch myself whining about the stupidest things, and then I remember where Mike is and what he is going through and I feel ashamed at myself.

Military Life vs. Civilian Life
It's so true. and yet so sad. but the best of it is its pride. not pride for oneself for fighting. its about the pride you give for your country.
I'm edgeing at the chance to get overseas. if only I wasnt 15. it's in my blood. I've got get there. . .

My cousin watched three buddies die in Iraq... and he's going back.
My broher would go out and have long talks with him, and still chose to enlist.
Me? I go to school on the east coast for 18 months after boot camp, and then they put me on a carrier.
I think it's funny when people try to call me a hero.I certainly don't feel like one, especially when people start shooting their mouths off about the government, the military, the war...
