"Hmph. Always. It's Armagnac's whole point in life." She gave a resigned sigh.
"And while she completely agrees with you one the training topic, you guys do both remember that we," she pointed at both her and Jake, "are only human, right? We cannot run forever, even with weapon support. Without some R&R we would crash, or at least go crazy." Maybe Jake just hadn't been on the island long enough to realize that yet.
"Well. Let's wander around a bit and see what we can find. Besides a warmer shirt and a jacket, did you have any ideas about--" The gasp that escaped her lips was massive. This was one of those malls with a movie theater inside of it.
And Sherry just about died when she saw what was playing. She had thought about catching a movie, but now she had to. She just had to. She wanted to see everything, but she knew that wouldn't go over well at all. They still had to make sure and shop. She could always come back next week, right? Maybe?
A very excited Sherry reached out and grabbed hold of Jake's arm. She looked him dead in eye and asked, "Can we watch a movie? Please? Please? The Hobbit one? I didn't even know they were making it!" It was like finding out they'd made an new Harry Potter or something. "Please?" She was clutching at him with both hands now, and the puppy-dog-eyes were wholly unintentional.

Jake sighed. "I think our partners got mixed up.
He stared at the clothing stores with massive disinterest. "I just need a new shirt. I don't need a jacket or any-" Hearing the gasp, he turned to look at her, wondering if she was having a stroke. There was a disappointed looking his face when he realized she wasn't. Darn. If only she did die, then he wouldn't have to be here in the first place. Chester only sighed.
"What are you, 4? We don't have TIME for movies. Let's just get this stupid shopping done so we can-"
Butt out. This has nothing to do with you.
No.
The pout was almost audible in his head.
I SWEAR, I am going to murder the both of you with my bare hands when I get back. Don't think I won't.
He hadn't even noticed Sherry had been clinging to him the whole time. "FINE." he growled.

Sherry heard only one word. It was all she needed to hear. The look on her face went from pleading to complete joy in heartbeat. "Thank you!" She jumped and wrapped her arms around him for a brief moment. Yes, yes it was a hug. A hug of happiness; her day had just been made. She kept on hand on Jake as she turned around to gather the necessary information. Perfect. They were just in time for the first showing of the day. "It starts in 20 minutes. Let's go." She grabbed him by the wrist fully intent on dragging him to the ticket window, because apparently, she was 4.
No time was wasted as she asked for the tickets, slapping the cash down on the counter with unbridled enthusiasm. How long had it been? Forever? She'd not gone to a lot of movies before heading to Deus; it had always been a special treat. And this...she just couldn't believe it.
"Here's your ticket. We have time to grab snacks if you want them." She was way to excited as she led them into the lobby of the theater, preparing for the most magical experience ever.
Hopefully Jake would help her eat that popcorn she planned to buy.

The hug had been unexpected. He let out a "oof" when she threw her arms around him, and only stood there awkwardly. It seemed the JOY was already starting to slowly affect him, because he normally would have shoved her off.
He only let out an exasperated sigh as she dragged him to the ticket counter, and when handed the ticket, frowned. Did she just... pay for him?
"I can pay for my own-" He never got to finish as he was dragged into the lobby, forgetting to tell her that he was never big on junk food, so, sorry Sherry, you're on your own.

It was three hours later when a very satisfied Sherry stepped out the theater. "That was great!" The words were punctuated with one great big stretch. She hadn't realized how much she missed movies, and going to the theater? Oh. Just amazing. Totally worth all the leave time they'd just spent in there. Didn't you spend five minutes asking me what happens next? "Thanks again for agreeing to go, Jake," She was smiling as she turned to look at the death trainee. She was walking as they talked, since they really should get started on that shopping business. "What'd you think of it?" She was leading them into a clothing store while she waited for an answer.

Jake only yawned and rubbed his eyes as they left the theatre.
It was a boring movie.
Next time.
Oh well, tough luck.
"Yeah, whatever," he muttered, ignoring Chester. Oh, wait. She was asking about the movie. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Chester was still quite sore about the whole thing.
"It was... ok." He re-directed his gaze to something else in case she wanted to ask more about the movie.

Suspicious eyes slowly crawled over Jake. Did he just say it was ok? It had been amazing and magical, one of those movies everyone loved...or hated. (As she remembered it went with movies.) And he held no strong opinion? He had been awful quiet...and the once or twice she'd been able to tear her attention from the screen... "Did you sleep through the entire thing or something?" There was surprise in her voice, no anger or agitation.
Well. Now she felt bad. She'd thoroughly enjoyed it, and if he hadn't, she'd have to make it up to him. Though it seemed he was already interested in something else. Right! Shopping.
Armagnac grumbled something about focus and time management.
"Well, uh, thanks for going with me either way." She'd so have to make it up to him later. "So. What'd you wanna look at first?"
They were standing in the men's apparel section of some clothing store. Sherry placed one hand on a rack full of long sleeve T-shirts, and motioned to a rack full of jackets. "Shirts, jackets, sweaters...?"

Damn, she found out. "N-no..." he muttered lamely, face already turning a light shade of red.
Shut up.
Desperate for a subject change, he looked around intently to see if there was anything. Nothing caught his eye.
"Why don't you go look for your own stuff while I look around?" He needed some time to clear his head, and also felt a bit awkward about having Sherry pick out clothes for him.

Oh. He must have been bored out of his mind. That was clearly not a Jake kind of movie. Horrible choice on her part. She would just have to--
His suggestion caught her a tiny bit off guard. She'd practically had to force him into coming along, and now he was suggesting looking around by himself? "Are you sure? I don't mind helping you out. It's not trouble really, and I don't need that much for myself."
That, and she wanted to make sure he got more than just one shirt.

Jake only let out an exasperated sigh and planted his hands on her shoulders, steering her out of the men's section.
"Yes, now GO." He wouldn't admit it, but the JOY was starting to affect him... just a little.

"Alright, alright! I'll go." She couldn't argue with him physically guiding her away. "I'll be over here, so just find me when your ready."
She was wearing a stupid grin as she wandered off to shop.

He let out a sigh of relief as she wandered out of sight, and he stepped back into the men's apparel. There was a frown on his face as he placed a hand on his chest.
Chester, I feel weird.
He squeezed his eyes shut.
No, it's-
He paused, feeling curious eyes on him. Damn it, never a moment's peace.
Whatever, let's just pick something out so we can get out of here.
-----------------------
The next 20 minutes were spent looking at various sweatshirts and hoodies, and with some suggestions from Chester, he finally settled on a simple striped hoodie, which looked warm and wasn't too pricey.
Since the hoodie was so cheap, he picked up a sleeveless hoodie while he was at it. ... well, his shirt had been torn up, so why not.

Sherry had spent her time lost in thought and/or searching. She hadn't been shopping in such a long time. Of course, she just hadn't been off the island for a while. She was just reveling in the glory that was time off and shopping. One thing here, two things there, wrong color, right color, and so on and so forth. "No." Sure, she had a few items cradled in her arm. A couple of plain shirts, a new sweater, some unmentionable things (that were safely under the sweater) and a pair of jeans, but she wasn't finished. There was still so much to look at, and really, they had only been in one store thus far. Armagnac was groaning. It was almost like she was in pain. "Fine." We'll go check on Jake. She passed the cutest socks on her way back to the men's section, and grabbed a pair of those, too. A glance told her Jake's haul was not nearly as large as her's. "So. How'd you do?"

A voice made him turn, and he gave a surprised look when he realized it was Sherry. Was she done already?
He looked down at the two sweaters he held and nodded. "Something warm, right?" Well... a sweater was plenty warm, yup.

"Riiight." Two hooded sweaters. Well, that was better than he'd said he'd get. She rather liked the striped one, too. The other one...sleeveless sweaters? Really, world? "Not bad. I really like that one," she pointed to the striped one. She wasn't sure how she felt about the other one. She just didn't know. But if he liked it, well, she wasn't going to argue. He was here, he was shopping, and he'd gone to the movie with her. He could have his sweater. It could have been worse, right? "So. What else? I mean, who knows when we'll end up off island again. You should take a chance and pick up a few more things things. Like one of these!" Without ceremony, she dropped her pile of stuff onto the floor, and grabbed a plain, folded shirt off a table. She then unfolded the thing, stepped forward holding it out for size comparison. "Hold still." She wasn't satisfied until her fingers, each holding a shoulder of the shirt, were touching Jake's shoulders. "That should work." She tossed the shirt onto her pile of stuff, then added a white one for good measure. She then reached down, picked up her small armful of goodies, looked Jake in the eye and asked, "Ok. What else do you need?"
