"She looks awfully b-big to me." Iafri regarded the 'small' gold with a disbelieving eye. Every dragon that wasn't a hatchling looked big to her, and even a couple of those seemed rather large. At mention of Threadfall, though, she paled noticably, and clammed up again.

Girofleth trilled affectionately to her golden mother, rising up on her haunches and stretching out her own nose, using her large wings to balance herself as she did so. We will not interrupt the duties of Yours any longer, but I would very much like to speak with you at greater length when there is time. I have many questions about many things.

The past three days had been… interesting. Going from Holdless visitor to Junior Weyrling had very sudden and unexpected, and rather abruptly she found herself dealing with numerous well-wishers and the needs of two baby creatures. It made for a very busy time, but Nyasa plowed ahead with Vesaldyth supporting her all the while.

Vesaldyth. For the most part, Nyasa had adjusted to Vesaldyth’s presence well enough. The idea that she now had someone that would always be there for her was a strange one, but far from troublesome. In fact, the only troublesome thing Nyasa now found herself facing was the fact that she was tied to someone she couldn’t – or at least shouldn’t – hide things from; it was proving a hard habit to break.

< Mine, we must meet my Hatchmates! Come Mine!>

Well, maybe not the only thing Nyasa was having trouble with. She quickly found out that Vesaldyth was more social and friendly than her. Many a-time she had found herserlf trailing after her partner, sticking to the background until the Green dragged her into the conversation. This time was no different, Vesaldyth practically prancing up to a cluster of other dragonets while Nyasa trailed slightly behind.

< Hello! I am Vesaldyth.> she chirped happily to the nearest dragonet, one Nyasa remembered scuffling with the hissy Green.

Phiroth looked up from her meal at the green that had come up to her. One of her hatch mates she supposed. With a very pretty hide. Not as pretty as her own hide, of course. But still, very nice. Her eyes narrowed as she thought about how she could keep this dragon for herself.

She stayed close to Ahmenna watching the green and her rider. A girl that neither had seen before. A stranger. Her eyes whirling quickly, Phiroth looked up at her rider.

Ahmenna tried not to groan. She had had no plans on dealing with anyone today minus her Weyrwoman and Weyrleader. Getting her knots was the plan and hopefully an early escape. Looking the girl over, Ahmenna cautiously spoke. "Hello there. I am Ahmenna, Phiroth's rider when she is big enough."

Laeonaith informed his sister. Hers did seem to be timid, but Laeonaith felt certain that with Girofleth's help Iafri might find herself opening up eventually. There was no time for further conversation, however, as Iafri and Girofleth had reached Suunath and Kindra, and he and His would be next.

Laeonaith told His. he added, prancing a little bit, his tail knocking into a passerby and nearly tripping them.

"I will be more careful." Eiran told his, dismayed at the thought of having upset the girl. But it was hard to feel dismay for long, especially when Laeonaith pranced around with that sharding ladle. It was just too funny to watch. There was no staying in anything but a good mood around his bronze.

And then it was time for them to approach Kindra and Suunath. Eiran grinned at the goldrider, though the grin was a little shaky. He knew there were a lot of eyes on them, and that they would all take this opportunity to pass judgement of some sort.

"Hello Kindra." He said, bowing deeply to her and to Suunath and shooting Laeonaith a mental warning to, for the first time in his shiny new life, behave at least a little circumspectly.

Admittedly, the gangly bronze approached Suunath with a polite gait, his head held high the way folks would expect a bronze to walk. He even managed a respectable looking bow. But this was belied by the ladle in his mouth, which he dropped at Suunath's feet.

“ I’m Nyasa. That’s Vesaldyth.”

A rather abrupt answer. Vesaldyth didn’t approve, because she butt her head against her rider, urging her on.

“ Forgive me. I apparently have “the social skills of a stubborn wherry.”” She said in a deadpan voice, obviously quoting her dragon. Arching an eyebrow, she asked with a perfect poker face,“ Want to talk about the weather? It’s very weather-y today.”

Vesaldyth snorted, obviously aware of Her’s antics and not quite approving. Rather than fighting though, she turned her attention back to Phiroth.

< I’m sorry Phiroth. Mine is stubborn, and still needs much socializing, but she is strong.> Giving Ahmenna an approving look, she added < Your’s looks strong. Is she stubborn too?>

Ahmenna didn't really care to speak to the other girl but she gave a short laugh when the other girl mentioned social skills of a wherry. Kharmeen had often said something along the same lines. "I have been told I am about as social as a drowned feline. I prefer to think I am cautious with who I chose to speak with..."

Phiroth supposed the other green was not so bad. Staying close to hers, she gave a slow bob of the head.

"The weather is how it always is. Which is to say it is dull. Either sunny or cloudy. Rainy or not. But it's there and it is not a storm." Ahmenna replied, her voice not really giving much away in the way of feeling. Still, the girl at least had the appearance of a hard worker. And if that was the case, then Ahmenna already felt a little more relaxed.

For the some-teenth time, Narisa fidgeted and adjusted her dress yet again. She hadn't been sure what to expect with the Feast this night. And... to be quite honest, she hadn't been completely sure she would attend. The previous events had sucked a lot of stamina out of her... shellit! It had sucked a lot out of them all. And then the few nights they spent at those Hot Springs. Things had gone fairly well. But it had been nearly impossible to fully rest. The fear that one of their thieves would strike again had remained at the forefront of her mind. Then there was the news upon their return that the Golden egg had still not been discovered.

Stop fretting. There is nothing else we can do, darling. Do not waste energy on it tonight. Cepheith slunk about until she found a nice spot for her and her Bronze companion to relax among the other dragons. Enjoy a little celebration, mine.

Yeah, just like we tried to do before. Narisa muttered to her dragon, knowing that Cepheith didn't remember that 'incident'. "Is it a bad thing to feel the urge to turn back and have a quiet evening instead?" She asked Set'al.

The Gold rumbled, turning her head to regard Pipith. Yours should just ignore what Mine says and drag her around. Cepheith gave the mental dragon equivalent of an eyeroll.

Alright, so maybe she was being slightly paranoid. But shaffit! With everything that had happened and lacking sleep... she just couldn't help it! Although being ganged up on by her dragon plus her friend probably meant she was not going to survive the night without her mood lightening up. She hoped.

"No," Set'al agreed, and grinned unrepentantly when his dragon sent him a wave of disapproval. Cepheith wanted Hers to go out, and wanted His to help, so of course Pipith wanted the same thing. "But I have a feeling we'd hear about it for days, and I don't know about you, but I actually like to sleep occasionally." Keeping him awake - or waking him up way too sharding early - was Pipith's very favorite way of getting back at him for things, and a very effective one at that.

The bronzerider's primary interest - aside from self-preservation - in any Hatching Feast was the food, so if his sleep hadn't been threatened, he would have been just as happy to skip it...which actually sounded kind of fun. There was something delightfully subversive about the idea of snubbing an important social function with someone who was supposed to be responsible and turn up for these things.

"We could just eat, drink, and leave," he suggested, to further dismay from Pipith.

Mine! He rumbled his annoyance at his rider as he settled beside Cepheith. They are both contrary today. Maybe we should have told them not to come, and then they would have wanted to.

Three days. Three whole days since Oishyth had walked into his life. She was...not what he had expected. Not that he had any expectations. T'rin had been quite surprised by the fact that the green had chosen him. Are you going to continue to question my choice? Or shall we go on and attend this...celebration of yours. "My celebration? I'm pretty sure it's being held mostly because you..y'know..hatched and all. Didn't go between. Most people assume that's a good thing." Arching a brow, he looked down at the green with a bit of amusement. For sure not what he had expected. Beyond your expectations T'rinmine. You will see. Shaking his head, the young man decided not to question the green. One thing he'd noticed in the past three days was that she practically refused to give straight answers. Ah well. "Come on, before anything good happens. It'd be nice to get some food in me as well. For such a little dragon, you sure do eat a lot." Oishyth 'huffed' and ignored the playful jab as she sauntered next to the tall weyrling.

Upon arriving at the feast, T'rin coudn't help but look around. There were dragons and riders who had not been present at the actual Hatching. The ones who'd come from the stolen eggs and he couldn't help but be curious about them. First things first...get the weyrling knots. So everyone would know he belonged to Oishyth and she to him. Grinning slightly, he joined the rest of his fellow weyrlings lined up for their knots. Oishyth seemed completely uninterested in this whole event. She'd rather have stayed back at the barracks instead of being dragged all the way out here. Still, it could prove to be somewhat entertaining. Did you not want to converse with the others? That is the point of all this, yes? Well, it was. But he was here mainly for the food and it didn't hurt to learn the faces. They had a while to get to know the other weyrlings...besides it was rude to interrupt someone's conversations, and it looked like almost all of them were doing just that. "Forget it, let's just get the knots and grab some food for now."

---------------------------------------------------------------

Hurryyyy! All of them are finally together, I want to see the little ones! Loveth had been so excited throughout the whole three days. It had been a surprise she hadn't just taken off to go see the babies without her rider. Aislin could only shake her head in amusement. If the crimson was this excited about someone else's babies, what would she be like if she clutched. No, no. WHEN she clutched. There was no way her dragon wouldn't clutch. Not with as much love as she had to give.

Smiling faintly, she gave in and scrambled up the crimson's side. "Okay, okay. I heard there were a few crimsons hatched. I wouldn't mind getting a peek at them." It all brought back memories of the tiny Loveth hatching and stumbling across the sands until she called out for hers. For Aislin. She would never get used to the amount of love that came from the simple thought of Loveth. Humming in pleasure, the pale crimson set them on course to see the newest generation.

Upon arriving, Aislin couldn't help the grin that plastered itself onto her face. It was almost like the last time she attended a Hatching Feast. But we are not the babies. Nope, they weren't. Hmm, it didn't seem like there were many atypicals this time 'round. One black and two crimsons. Two crimsons that could potentially bring the number of clutching dragons up when they matured. You're thinking much too far ahead, Aislinmine. They are babies. Right, right. She was distracted. "Of course. Sorry, why don't you go and find someone to gush about babies with, hm? I think I might mingle a bit." Slipping from the pale crimson's side after receiving a loving nuzzle, she headed to the crowd, intent on finding J'len and congratulating her.

After seeing that the rider was still handing out knots gave her pause. Hmm, well she could wait until that duty was done. And whatever other duties the other crimsonrider had. The red-head would just have to keep an eye out for a good moment to catch her. Time to enjoy the celebration!

Kindra kept a small, hopefully reassuring smile on her face for Iafri. "She is now but when she was hatched she was considered weak.. now look at her" she gave a small chuckle "don't let anyone tell you otherwise dear, your Green will grow soon enough.. and quick enough" she gave another chuckle "there may be a point you'll wish she'd stop growing" she tried to lighten the mood since the girl was notably very nervous.

Suunath rumbled, and let help her head still so that her small hatchling could balance against her if she wished. "Very well Girofleth, when you and Yours have the time you are both welcome to come and talk to me and Mine, i am glad you are here with Yours" She gently withdrew her head slightly to look to the next hatchling to arrive.

Kindra turned from Iafri then and to Eiran "in the Weyr Eiran you would call me Weyrwoman Kindra, or Junior Weyrwoman Kindra.. or just Weyrwoman" she corrected him, not unkindly but enough to remind him that calling her Kindra, for the moment, wasn't quite proper. She was impressed that he, and his .... lively .... Bronze bowed respectfully enough though.

Suunath's eyes whirled as Laeonaith approached, something clamped in his jaws and she was highly curious. The bow was good, repsectful but Suunath didn't mind about that as much as Hers did, not with her Hatchlings. "It is shiny!... what is it?" she asked him as she bent her head to nose at the ladle, Hers would know what it was but at the moment she was busy with Laeonaith's.

Eiran turned crimson under the gentle reminder, he should have known better! He had been so flustered with all the attention and the pressure that he had forgotten basic manners. And while he was not a boy who generally stood on ceremony, he did recognize that today was an important day, and should be treated as such.

"I'm sorry Weyrwoman." He replied contritely. "With all of the excitement I had forgotten my manners." He offered Kindra a rather abashed smile. If there was one thing besides baking that Eiran had a knack for, it was smoothing things over. He hoped that the goldrider would accept his apology.

Laeonaith, meanwhile, was inspecting the ladle with Suunath, his head bent close to hers.

“ Mm. There’s an unfortunate number of dimglows, and they might be contagious.”

Stupidity was something Nyasa had no patience for, and unfortunately it was something she encountered more frequently than she’d like.

< It is good to watch. Mine watches, but she is too quick to judge and dismiss. She doesn’t like many other two-legs.>

This seemed very odd to Vesaldyth who, even though she didn’t like everyone she met, still wanted to meet peopl and give them a chance
.

Nyasa opened her mouth to make some other comment, but was interrupted by a pop and a screech. An eye-searingly green flitt appeared and immediately leeched onto Nyasa, clinging to her arm.

“ Didn’t I tell you to stay?” She asked, eyeing her cling-on, and just as the flitt opened its mouth to screech a reply, Nyasa stuffed it with a piece of bread she’d magically procured. Distracted, the flitt set to chewing the chunk of bread, and Nyasa gave Ahmenna a look as she gestured to her flitt.

“ Have any of these little beasts?”

Ahmenna had to laugh at that. She was almost-maybe-sorta starting to like this girl. "I can agree with you on that. More than once I have come across a person who ranks with trundle bugs with intelligence."

Phiroth finally stepped away from her rider and looked Vesaldyth over.

Ahmenna blinked when a bright green flit appeared above their heads. It came to Nyasa and and clung to her. It was a pretty thing though a little loud for her tastes. Hmmming, she shook her head. "Ah, no. I don't have one and I'm not sure I could handle one right now with Phiroth growing practically out of her skin."

"I know; being a tailfork is one of my major skills and redeeming features," C'tis drawled as he sought out a place at the Weyrling table. "Maybe he doesn't like me," he added with a shrug, "always hard to tell how he's feeling... well he seems to like you anyway." The new rider might have been able to keep his face and voice more or less neutral, but the unhappy little noise from the blue beside him and the dulling of his bright eyes rather gave the game away. "I'm... sure he just hasn't got back into the habit of getting out and about," C'tis added rather lamely as he took his seat and reached for a platter of roast meat.

Shaking off his rider's moment of sadness and uncertainty Malcarreth turned to Kibeth, eyes brightening up again. There were a lot of things about the Weyr that needed changing... perhaps if he could persuade Kibeth and Bel they and their riders might leave the stupid place and go over to the revolution. It was certainly worth bearing in mind.

"You also have a very nice smile, except maybe when it's like a felines." Rochelle grinned. It faded when C'tis no longer had that stupid happy smile but something far less joyous. When his words sunk in, she scooted around the dragons and threw her arms around him from the side. The crimson rider pressed her face into his large arm, fingers hooked together as she could barely reach around him in his entirety.

"I don't think that's the case, but if it is then he's super dumb," she muffled, leaning in closer. "I like you. And he's not super dumb, so of course he likes you."

Now he's made her have feelings. said Kibeth in distaste. She rolled her eyes mentally, still wobbly, and squirmed her way to flick her whipcord tail against Malcarreths. They should learn they can't tell me what to do then. It's a horribly valuable lesson.
