Lex smiled lightly, noticing how pleased she seemed with the meal he'd made. Good - he didn't consider those his signature dish for nothing, after all. His smile grew wider when she told him the coffee was fine.
More than likely, she was still a bit shell shocked from having something irreplaceable taken from her; she couldn't be blamed for reacting in such a wary way. She'd been guarded before, and had simply been overloaded with emotions and exhasution. Lex almost felt bad for having stripped her of the title, but she was the one who went ahead and proceeded.
"How're the pancakes? I wasn't sure if you liked fresh cherries or not."

Kat was nearly finished her pancakes when the comment of 'fresh cherries' caused her to gag and choke on the food. Was that supposed to be a pun of some kind, what with her having been a virgin up until last night. Reaching for the coffee, she swallowed down whatever was stuck in her throat and proceeded to stare at Lex. She said nothing, she did nothing. Just stared.

Lex smirked lightly, poking at her stack of pancakes with a fork and grabbing a cherry that was popped into his mouth and chomped down on, a small dribble of juice trailing down the corner of his mouth.
"Oh, c'mon now, say something." Lex teased, forking off an actual bit of pancake that was washed down by a swig of coffee. He hadn't messed her up too badly, had he?
Time would tell, he supposed.
"Seriously, say something. You didn't suddenly go mute, did you?"

The silent stare changed to something of horror and embarrassment as he bit into the cherry. She would never look at cherries the same way again.
Taking a moment to take a steady breath, Kat set the plate down, her coffee still in in hand, while her attention now re-focused on the floor as she struggled not to make eye contact with Lex. Well.. this was only getting more awkward by the second, and that move with the cherry didn't help much.
At his prodding, she finally loosed a sigh. "No--Do you enjoy teasing me?" She asked, letting her gaze settle on the life hunter for a moment before quickly diverting her gaze again.
Nope, still couldn't look him in the eye.

A raised brow and a slurp of coffee would be all Kat got for a few moments as Lex took in the aroma of the blend before knocking the rest of his cup back and giving the girl a satisfied smile.
"Maybe a bit; does it offend you?" He dropped his smile just a touch, brow furrowing lightly. He didn't mean to actually hurt her in any way; he just wanted to lighten the mood. Apparently it wasn't working so well.
"I'll quit, though you need to lighten up a bit little sunbeam." He smiled again, leaning back to the point where he was laying down, propped on an elbow and looking towards Kat's face. "You act as though you've committed some sort of unforgivable sin."

It wasn't so much that it offended her, but it was embarrassing, definitely. Shifting uncomfortably, she switched to fidgeting with her bandages, picking lightly at where it was tied. "No.." Gawd, this was pathetic. She was twenty-one years old and acting like this, where as girls far younger than her would just laugh at her for this behavior.
Wrinkling her nose at the nickname, she tugged the bandage on her arm loose, checking the wound to take her mind off things. "I.. I'm just not.. I don't want to talk about it."

Sighing lightly and rolling his eyes mentally, Lex shrugged and lay down completely with his hands behind his head as he stared at the ceiling for a moment or two before the coppery tang of blood hit his nose. Propping himself up again, he saw the young woman picking her bandage off and examining the wound.
"Mmm...I'm going to have to bandage that again." He noted, getting off the bed to shuffle around in his drawers for the roll of bandages he kept for himself.
"Those cuts are going to take a while to heal, unfortunately. You'll probably need to change the bandages every time you exert yourself." Lex ranted, his more nurse like tendencies kicking in as he searched through another drawer.

Bloody hell, that ax wielding horseman b***h really knew how to leave a mark. No doubt, this was likely to leave a scar, especially without the aid of Xedis to help her recover. Ugh.. if she ever saw that horseman again..
Lifting her chin slightly, she gave the life hunter a look. "Er.." Quickly re-bandaging her arm, and doing a poor job of it, she made a motion with her hand before sliding off the bed to search for the sleep pants again. "Its fine, thank you, but I don't need you to fuss over me."
At the small rant of the life hunter, Kat cringed. This was just like the kind of lecture she would have received from her foster parents when she would cut herself on random objects while playing.Carhop Calvalier Late tag~ /scoots off to dinner/ BBL

Lex's head snapped back at the young woman, concerned expression softening into a small smile. Of course he didn't - she'd be fine. The worst of it was over, after all. He finally found the bandage roll he'd been looking for and tossed it Kat's way.
"Well, if you say so. Just make sure to pull those bandages tight, m'kay? He got up with a stretch and grabbed his hunter coat, slipping it on as he made for the door.
"I need to head to the labs, so I'll see you later. Remember - lay low. Get some rest." He gave her a cheery little wave as he walked out, smiling brightly as soon as he was out of the room.

Nearly fumbling the bandages when tossed, she waved him off with her free hand as he made for the door. "Uh huh, sure, I will. Go go go, I'll be fine." Waiting until Lex was finally out the door, Kat heaved a huge sigh of relief, letting herself slide down to the floor. <********.. I really screwed up this time.. Not that she was entirely disappointed, but rather confused, shocked and embarrassed when even so much as thinking about last night.
Gripping the bandages a little tighter, she soon set to work on re-bandaging her wounds, thankful for the fact that she was not easily grossed out by the sight of blood. After, she would take Lex up on his advise to rest more, though after..
she couldn't stay cooped up in this room forever.
