"I trust the person who gave her to me. He would not give me something that would hurt me intentionally." Asedri trusted Tajnevaki with her life that much was obvious. To her all of this did not have such a negative spin as Ifan thought it did either. "I love him." So did Keme, it was the deepest thing they had in common. It was what her decision had come down to- love.

Ifan listened to the girl, as her words revealed her to be just that. Love? How could someone who loved her give her a death sentence? Surely they would want her to live a fulfilling life? "Though, isn't its main goal to ... " he paused, destroy was perhaps too strong a word, and not the right one. "Consume us?" That was how Isambard and the Lady Greed might put it.

"In a sense."
Asedri smiled, tilting her head just so as Keme spoke through her. The two of them endeavored to work together, rather than fight one another. Fighting seemed pointless to both goddess and girl. If they were stuck together forever, at least in a sense, wasn't it better to put differences aside to avoid trouble later?
"But it does not necessarily mean destruction." Outright destruction would leave the god with nothing but themselves, the same as they had been. The same selves that failed and faded.
"Some do not realize what they have been given and squander it needlessly." Her words echoed Keme's thoughts in a way. It was something Tajnevaki had said to her once, when explaining gods to her.

"Oh?" Ifan was intrigued. "What do you mean?" He asked. "Squander what? Us?" he had been led to believe that he was a mere vessel for the rebirth of the god, fuel for their evolutions.
Somewhere within him Isambard snorted with amusement.

"Mhm."
"Things were meant to change...why else would we be the way we are?"
Asedri sipped her tea. "If they were meant to remain as they were, couldn't Creation simply give them flesh again himself?" It had taken time for her childlike mind to wrap around the concept of it all, but both Keme and Taj had been patient in their explaining. Hopefully it would be food for though for Ifan.
"There is a need for us to learn, to grow, not unlike mortals do. Though the more arrogant of my kin may loathe to admit it." Looking at you Isambard. Though, he certainly was not the only guilty part...there were many more who thought like he did.

Ifan thought about this. He did not know much about that fading. Just that the gods had become forgotten. Obselete as society had changed and grown. "So this rebirth thing is a punishment, sort of. To force them to learn from their mistakes?"

"I suppose one could term it that way, but that puts it in a negative light."
She pushed the teacup forward a bit and rested her arms on the table.
"I think of it as more a second chance, an opportunity." One that she was probably quite lucky to have, given the state she had no doubt been in.

"So, um what's in it for us?" He asked. "As I understand it, for our part in their rebirth we cease to exist. No soul, nothing?" It was all terribly confusing. "But there must be something appealing, right, or those like yourself wouldn't choose this?"

"I won't exist as I am now, no, but she and I will be person. With parts of both of us." Probably not the exact answer Ifan was looking for, but it was a highly individual thing. You were very much at the mercy of the god who decided you were the perfect fit. "She will know all I know, have all my memories."
"This where the squandering can come in. What happens is up to the god, whether it is a conscious choice or not. If they choose not to save you at all, you could simply be snuffed out like a candle." It seemed to her that those were not the only two outcomes, after all power could be manipulated anyway one wished so long as the will was strong enough to do so.

Well that didn't seem to bad at all really, though it was down to the mercy of the god. Asedri obviously trusted the one within her. "Well, seems I'm well and truely screwed then." He smirked, well if you didn't laugh you had to cry.
That's right, don't listen to all this new wave drivvel. The only mistake we made was to let the mortals forget us. The girl is a fool.
The voice echoed in Ifan's mind but did not go so far as to speak. He would not waste his energy.

"Even if you are, 'screwed' as you so eloquently put it."
Asedri would blush, blue eyes going a bit wide as Keme laughed in her mind. In moments like this the disconnect in age and understanding between the two of them was rather obvious.
"You do not deserve to be forgotten entirely. I, for one, will not forget you."

"Thank you ... Keme. It is nice to know there are some of you who are compassionate." He smirked a little. "Though arrogant, I don't think Isambard is completely heartless. He just knows what he wants. Effecient, as an engineer I can respect that."

Asedri leaned back and nudged the chair backward. "I have been out a good deal longer than I expected to be. So I should probably be getting back before someone comes looking." Someone most certainly would, after the whole incident with Jareth her boys had become a good deal more protective.
"It is nice to have met you, Ifan."
"And you too, Isambard." Even if the god was a bit of a jerk, it seemed wrong to neglect acknowledging his presence entirely.
"Maybe we will run across each other again sometime."

Ifan smiled and stood as they did. "Bye, it was nice to meet you. I'm sure either one of us or both of us will see you again sometime." He nodded his head and then sat back down to finish the refreshing tea.
