Ink StainsWord Count: 584Perhaps it had not been the best idea to try this so soon, the effort had left her utterly exhausted. No doubt the sensation would bleed over to Asedri as well. Hopefully after some rest the girl would forgive her. Though in hindsight she should have done something about the ink stains left on her hands. There was nothing for it now with the Mouse tucked safely back into bed again. All she could hope was that the notes had been left in an obvious enough place that they would easily be found.A ferret shaped Soterios snuggled down against Asedri's neck and the girl reached up to hug him out of reflex as she curled up in bed. She had just gotten into bed not too long before Keme had decided to 'borrow' her for a time. Thankfully, being asleep, she had no idea what the goddess had been up to. Two notes had been penned- one for Akakios and one for Tajnevaki. The first was a clue that Lament seemed like he sorely needed- she had never been one to offer answers freely. It was a riddle, a test, to see how his mind worked. If he intended to stay with Tajnevaki he would have to get used to things like this. The Cat deserved someone who understood him at least as well as she did.
There is sense to be made of these notes.
Not all is as bad as it seems.

The note had been penned using his own quills and ink which would give him a clue as to who LL might be. Once the ink had dried she had slipped it into an obvious spot in the next tome in his pile. He would probably find it in the morning with as quick of a reader as he was. If Akakios could solve it then it might help him find the answer he was looking for.
The second note was an apology of sorts for what she had to do to keep them both safe from Jareth. Well, not to much as the act itself as the aftermath. Tajne loved Asedri, Keme knew that much. The girl loved him too, even if she did not understand that yet. She would grow into a woman before his eyes, in weeks or months rather than the decades it should have taken. It would be hard because it would take her mind time to catch up, leaving her a child caught in a woman's body. It had already begun, as a matter of fact- she was already the tiniest bit taller than she had been. They may not notice it for a time still, but eventually there would be no hiding it.
Keme knew what Tajne might feel the need to do. He might end up distancing himself from her, for her sake. But that would likely do more harm than good in the end.
Not all went as it should. I ensured our safety, but you will pay the price for it.

Friendship and Love

Asedri took the walk back from Xun's quarters to think things through. What was the best way to separate how friendship feels from love? That was a deep question in itself for her mind to comprehend, let alone think of an answer to. Though her body had grown and changed so she was nearly a woman her mind had not quite caught up yet. She had her moments and taking the time to consider what she had talked to Lifewater about was one of them. She opened the plain door that lead to Mystery's quarters and stepped inside, closing it soundlessly behind her.
It is more a fine line between the two, rather than a chasm, as you seem to think. Friendship and love cannot exist without each other, at least in some measure.
Oh. I didn't know that.
I would not expect you to... It was not a reprimand, her voice sounded amused more than anything. The deepest friendships hold some form of love at their roots and the deepest loves are rooted in friendship, shared interests and experiences. Not all friendships actually turn into love, but they all hold that potential.
It was more to think about as she followed the spiral path with the intent of going to her room, however in her distraction it was followed the wrong way and instead it led her to the library. Akakios was there as usual, pouring over tomes and seemingly in another world as he usually was when he worked. His back was to her, so he would not have seen her there. She blinked once, then again, blue eyes going wide.
How did I get here?

Am not! Her blush deepened when Lady Mystery's laughter rang in her mind.

Lying to me is counterproductive and mostly impossible. It is about as useful as lying to yourself.
But I'm not! The Mouse could not recall consciously deciding anything it wasn't a lie was it?
We would not be here if you had not, on some level, decided, Asedri.
She stood stock still, praying silently that the floor did not creak and give away her presence to Lament. What had she decided? How had she decided? When she thought about it a bit more, suddenly she had her answer and was mortified by it. How could she even ask him that?! She bit her lip when Keme began to laugh at her again.
You thought about it once...why so shy now?
No. That was a lie and she knew it. She had thought about it for a fleeting moment when she had seen Tajnevaki kissing Akakios. Some small part of her mind wanted to see what that was like, how it felt...and wanted to know what it really meant. Her heart was pounding so loud it was a wonder Akakios could not hear it.
Keme could not help but wonder exactly whose place Asedri had wanted to take in that moment when the girl had seen the two gods together. Tajne? Akakios? Or would she rather just keep them both for herself? The Cat had never minded sharing, at least in that sense, before...perhaps that had not changed.
There is no harm in asking him. Explain yourself, if you feel the need...or just be brave and don't ask... If she could have smiled, it would have been so cheshire like Tajne would have laughed.
