"What? Oh, okay. I was going to say I had business in Luna Town in a week and needed to leave too... Why is this the last time as a friend? What happened?" It does have something to do with Matt I bet. she thought. Oh this was not going to be good.
Marple was trying in vain to cheer them up by waving its stubby little arms and making cute noises and failing miserably. There were some things a Togepi couldn't fix. Shawn was silently watching as was Emerson. Thursday was perched on Clouseau's back and Clouseau was happily chewing on a stick wondering if there was ketchup around. Poirot was smelling Nick's shoes. Brauner was drawing something as he listened.
Kujo had ditched the samurai costume. He was getting sick of hiding from Team Gamma and didn't want Nancy to see him in costume. She might take a picture for future blackmail or just plain old send it to his girlfriend. He kept his sweatshirt's hood up and avoided the part of town with the smoke rising for it. She's going to be at the Pokecenter in two hours. The Unown incorrectly informed him which made it a bit startling when he rounded the corner and saw Nick and Nancy. He didn't approach though, it looked like something was up.
"Guys, are you sure my sister needs to be dragged into this? Darkrai?" Actually come to think of it, earplugs might be a good idea, she was going to be furious he'd been keeping information from her.
(Dr. Tenebrae? We can always come up with something better.)

"There are things that are too uncertain to say. Well, I'm leaving now, the sooner the better. I won't be using my transceiver so don't bother contacting me." Nick left the Pokemon Center to find what he needed for the upcoming events.
~Nick's Exit~
Nick left Root Town to go into the wilderness to find new pokemon and train them as fast as possible. A few hours have passed and Nick has just caught a Metang and Spiritomb. While Nick traveled, he trained his pokemon intensely. Pushing them passed their limits, defeating every trainer in sight. It was only a matter of time for Team Gamma to notice him.
-----Meanwhile-----
As Matt and Phil stood on opposite sides of the battle arena, Gamma members started to be drawn in like a starving Munchlax to an apple. A few seconds had passed and the scene was buzzing with excitement. A Vice Captain challenging his leader? It was something that you don't see everyday in Team Gamma, either Leaders die or fail in missions. The battle began. Phil called his trusty Glalie on the scene while Matt summoned Spooks. The battle commenced quickly Glalie used Ice Beam then Shadow Ball. Spooks used Lock-On then Hypnosis. It was a direct hit, Glalie fell asleep and Spooks was hit by the ice-shadow combo. Spooks used Nightmare repeatedly and won the battle. "So much for having all my pokemon eh Phil? Now give me your Mawlile and your rank.
Minutes after the battle, people were terrified of Matt as he put on his new captain's coat and changed his normal insignia to Elite. Upon receiving Mawlile, Matt left the Team Gamma Hideout and searched for Kujo.

(Aren't spiritomb's really hard to get? Dang useful pokemon though. So much green text.)
"...I'll meet you again. Be careful out there, I don't want to have to use detective skills to track you down."
"Combusken. Combusken?"*
"Deino?!" Emerson glared at Clouseau.
Nancy stood there watching. she didn't know what to do, she didn't want to have her Pokemon taken and felt sure that Nick already knew about Matt being in Team Gamma but...
By the time she'd made up her mind he was already long gone and Nancy cursed her indecisiveness.
There's none of Team Gamma's spies lurking around watching. You're good to go. Kujo peeked back around the corner. Since it looked like Nancy was done with the conversation he steeled his courage and approached. "Um, Nan?" Nancy jumped and Kujo found himself being assaulted by hugs from Brauner and Nancy. Poirot, not wanting to be left out started licking his face and generally being a dog. "Get off! You're crushing memmmmpthth"
After wiping dog slobber off his face Kujo began telling his story to Nancy while holding the very happy smeargle. Some notable bits of the topic were "... I'm sorry I didn't come to see you sooner. They stole everything when I stumbled on their lab in Mahogany and the Unown have been a little demanding."
"What's this about the Unown?"
"I'll tell you the entire story of where I've been if you don't interrupt, we'll never get anything done if you ask questions every five seconds Nan."
"You've got a lot of explaining to do! I am not going to-"
"I know you'll never stop." Nancy glared back at her brother.
"Fine. But you better have some really good reasons for not going right to the police."
"I tried but- you know what I'll just go from the beginning...." It was a very long story and he started with the lab he'd found in Mahogany. Aided by the Unown in the scroll he gave her a rather detailed account of who he'd talked to and his being on the constant lookout for Team Gamma. Finally... "So I was in the woods earlier but I think the Unown got the time wrong by a it because you'd already left by the time I found where they said you were. I ran into an agent of Team Gamma there Luckily..." He dropped his voice to a whisper, "Better keep this quiet but I got a map of one of Team Gamma's hideouts! They've got my Gardevoir there so thanks to-"
Hey, are you supposed to tell anyone? Is your sister good at keeping secrets and acting?
Oops. Kujo stopped right there but his sister was thinking now, he could see the look on her face as a big knowing grin spread on her face. Uh Oh. He thought.
"If it was who I think it was, this makes my day so much better. Say, do I get to come with?" Kujo was not happy with himself. Nancy.... wasn't the best at acting in his opinion. She wasn't as bad as he thought really but she wasn't spectacular and he didn't feel like having her along when sneaking into a criminal hideout.
Oh good, now I don't have to tell her even though I'm not supposed to. That is if she guessed correctly.
"Darkrai! why do you keep sneaking up on me? Why are you even here?!"
*"That sounded grim. It's not like he's going to end up dead, right?"
"Doesn't he have any food for me before he leaves?!"

((Well I don't feel like searching too hard >.<))
After Nick defeated his 16th trainer, three Gamma Members appeared right in front of him, surprizingly they were the Hunter, the Goon who ambushed his team on Route heading to Root town and the member who first sent him a letter to join. It seemed like they're showing respect instead of anger and hate. Behind them a 4th figure appeared. Could it be Matt who's the Captain of that Branch? No, it was no one other than Dr. Tenebrae! "Well well well, look who it is Nicholas Verdant of Johto, we've been expecting you. Have you considered pur offer?!" Dr. Tenebrae asked in delight, eager to know his response. "I have and I will join you. It was you who sent me that last letter wasn't it?" "Why yes it was. Your combinations were lacking quite a bit. No wonder it was so easy to beat you." With nothing else said, Nick entered the hideout. Hours later of fitting for his uniform, he added his own little twist to it. Walking around the hideout, Nick noticed the Team Members, some of them even use their own pokemon instead of stealing others. He glanced at a room and saw a Gengar and Gardevoir, the Gengar reminded him of Matt. Unexpectedly Matt walked passed him, but they didn't bother to notice each other due to the changes they both had gone through.
After minutes of walking, Matt left the hideout and reached Root Town, he slipped in the shadows like he was one and looked through the side window of the Pokemon Center and saw Kujo. He tried to get his attention by using his Gengar and use Nightmare to converse with him. "Kujo, meet me somewhere quiet and secluded Do Not bring Nancy and have you seen my little brother? I looked all over Town and he's not here."

The Gengar certainly got his attention. Nancy didn't notice but Darkrai did and didn't say anything about the meeting. This sort of sneakiness required subtlety and a poker face combined with devious tactics to throw Nancy off the scent of anything suspicious. "Um, could I take leave for a minute? I need to use the bathroom."
"At a time like now? Fine Kujo but can I see that scroll? I want to take a look at this thing. I've got a lot to tell you too..." Nancy plucked the old peice of papyrus from his hands and started reading the scroll as Kujo went to meet Matt in the men's room, a place Nancy would never set foot in. Darkrai followed, not only was he interested in what Matt had to say, he wanted to know what an indoor bathroom looked like. He'd seen some of the bathrooms people used at campsites but not inside a building with stalls and stuff.
He got his wish, Kujo waited for Matt and Darkrai played with a soap dispenser. Maybe Nancy has an idea? She was the one talking to him before right?
"Neither of them looked happy but it didn't look like they were arguing..."
Should I ask? I bet I can ask without her being suspicious.

Matt peered in the bathroom and saw Kujo and Darkrai. Matt walked in and started washing his hands "I have something for you. It's something to help you in getting your Gardevoir back." he said as he pulled out a pokeball and handed it to Kujo. "Try guessing what I gave you." Matt stated as Spooks popped out of his pokeball and started making faces at Darkrai, maybe he was trying to start something.
-----Meanwhile-----
Nick was battling his fellow Team Gamma Members, surprisingly it was a 4 vs 1 match. It seemed like Nick was toying with them, he was using his new pokemon, Meta and Soulfull. He was testing out some new combinations, the battle was surprisingly long, for someone who can beat Gym Leaders easily can surely beat some goons. Nick was battling a Gyarados, an Electivire, a Pidgeot and a Tangela. The Gyarados used Hydro Pump while Electivire followed up with Thunderbolt, the blast was headed for Soulfull. Luckily Meta leaped in front of him, Soulfull quickly used Wonder Room to switch the Defense and Sp. Defense of all pokemon battling. Meta took the water blast like it was nothing and absorbed the electricity through its right arm.
Nick used his pokedex and research on his opponents, he found out that Gyarados, Pidgeot and Electivire were weaker in Sp. Def when Wonder Room is used. Tangela is susceptible to physical attacks. Nick planned out his victory and commenced his attack. Meta dashed to Pidgeot and used Bullet Punch that had electricity due to the thunderbolt making it faint. Gyarados used Hyper Beam on Meta, but it used Zen Headbutt on the beam, Hyper Beam seemed to have a little effect on Meta because it was plowing through the beam like butter and reached Gyarados and used Zen Headbutt followed up by Ominous Wind from Soulfull.
A few attack later, Gyarados fainted. Seeing their teammates losing, the other two trainers surrendered. Upon seeing this events, Dr. Tenebrae took the elevator down and walked towards Nick. "Well done Nick, making these members surrender is quite a feat. Just remember our deal and everything will be fine." he said as he glared at him with intense eyes. "Yeah... I will...."
It's been a few hours and people are already used to Nick, he thought that beating the pants off of people made them furious but he was wrong. He was walking around the halls until he stumbled on a research lab. Surprisingly, Team Gamma had made their own Rare Candy that does twice the work a normal one does. Nick took a few and ran off.

Darkrai left to ask Nancy about where the other brother had gone.
Kujo glared at Spooks as if he disapproved of such childish things then pulled a magnificent silly face of his own in return and grinning. "...So you haven't told Nancy you're a double agent yet? Your little brother might have hinted at it or something, I think she suspects you because you were in the forest when I got the map for sneaking in. Nancy is used to being off when guessing though so if you want to keep her from accidentally giving you away we need misdirection of some sort." Kujo had assumed that Matt would tell his brother he was going undercover or something and the guy took the opportunity to make another face at Spooks. "I was going to Gaia Town next, that's where the hideout is, correct?"

Nancy was looking at the scroll trying to think about everything. "So... what did that letter say to him anyway Emerson? The creeps were far too interested in him and they probably were trying to make things a family affair since they have Matt..." Emerson shrugged. The scroll wasn't making a lot of sense since the Unown were moving around.
You could ask Kujo! Or us! We have the gift of prophecy!
"Yeah, th-AAAIIIIIIIEEEDARKRAI!"
Darkrai was amused, the plan to sneak up from behind her in the shadows had worked and elicited the appropriate response. Hello♪ Did you miss me? That never gets old. Nancy spun to shoot a nasty look at the nightmare pokemon. (If it was the move, that would be something) Where did your boyfrie-
"He is not my boyfriend."
Right. Not your boyfriend. Well, where did he go?
Nancy gave up, it would only keep Darkrai going longer if she responded to that. Maybe he'd forget to tease her if the subject changed though the chances of that were very slim. "He... didn't say. I think it had something to do with that letter and maybe his br... He said he'd meet me in Sol sometime but I'm supposed to be in Luna in a week anyway. It was odd, he said it was the last time I'd ever see him as a friend..." Was Matt the guy her brother got the map from? She hoped so, then she would worry a lot less about going to Luna.

" Huh? Is this...Root town?" A mysterious figure in a ninja hood and black and yellow coat asked himself. " I think this is."
He walked around for a couple of minutes then came to the conclusion that he was in fact in Root town.
" Awesome!! It worked!!" He said kind of loudly. " But it's not exactly the place I wanted to go, buddy." He said holding a Masterball.
" Well they're probably in Gaia town by now." He sighed. " To think, I get to see dad again."
Just then some members of Team Gamma passed by. The kid grunted with disgust.
" I'll take those guys out!!" He said to himself loudly. He ran towards them and said. " I challenge you to a battle!!"
" What? We're Team Gamma! A small fry like you'll never be able to beat me." A grunt said.
" You sure?" He said throwing a Lucario out. " Let's show them Rio!!"
" Go Purrloin!" The grunt said.
" Ha you're mediocre!! You'll never beat Rio with that thing! Use bone rush!" The kid said.
The Lucario ran at the Purrloin with an Aura bone. It was a direct hit.
" Down with one hit. What was that about never beating you?" The kid said.
" You little rat!!! How'd you get so strong!!??" The grunt asked annoyed.
" That's none of your business!!" He said walking away.
The Grunts kept walking too.
" To think they..." The kid didn't finish, he just shook his head and kept walking. He was looking for someone to help him with directions. He spotted a brown haired girl looking at a scroll. He approached with his Ninja hood on.
" Hey! Do you know the directions to Gaia town? I'm looking for a cute- Er- a guy with weird hair. It's like black and a little yellow, perhaps you've seen him pass by?" He asked, he thought to himself: " Oh great I might have already blown my cover. Well maybe she doesn't know him, I mean I've never seen her before."
His Dragonite told him something telepathically from inside it's greatball.
" Really!! I mean, I know our hair is similar but what do you mean?" He asked his Dragonite telepathically.
The Dragonite told him something again.
" Thanks El." He said to his Dragonite.
He continued to wait for her answer.

Matt ignored Spooks and open the pokeball in his hand, there was a flash of light and out popped a Mawlile, it looked around and noticed Kujo instantly. "It seems that this Mawlile is our I presume. Well, I wouldn't call myself a double-agent, don't get me wrong but I have seen Team Gamma on the inside with my own eyes. They're not as evil as one would think, some date others, they train "their" pokemon. It's odd, normally a stolen pokemon would hate its captor but they don't mind at all, very strange." Nick said in curiosity. Spooks returned to his ball and Matt continued discussing the matter with Kujo.
"As for throwing off Nancy, I could fake your death. By that I mean I could fake kill you, if we do that she won't ask where you got your pokemon who were stolen before like Mawlile. If you have a better idea, I'm all ears." Matt looked concerned when Kujo talked about Nick "What? Nick? I haven't talked to him since I talked to him in Gaia Town. Have you seen him? I couldn't get a hold of him when I tried calling him." Matt rambled on "Yes, that is correct. I've seen your Gardevoir there, it is a psychic branch of Team Gamma. I'll be tranfering there soon. Let's meet up there soon."

Darkrai hid when he saw someone coming. He had an answer anyway for Matt and knew it wasn't wise to call too much attention to himself. Nancy looked up when she heard, "Hey! Do you know the directions to Gaia town? I'm looking for a cute- Er - A guy with weird hair, it's black and a little yellow, Perhaps you've seen him pass by?"
She didn't particularly feel like talking to anyone right now but the guy was asking politely and what was that about the cute? It was best to just get this over with. "The route is that way and you should just be able to follow the signs. I haven't seen anyone with hair like that, sorry." The tone of voice managed to convey just how very much she wanted this guy to leave her alone at the moment to wallow in confusion and/or speculation about mystery things. Wait.... "Why are you wearing that hood?" Her pokemon were all looking at the mystery guy now since they had picked up on their trainer's tone of voice. Well, everyone but the Deino anyway. He was sniffing the guy's legs along with the Herdier to see what he smelled like.
It was very unnerving, and not just because of Thursday's ability. Clouseau the deino didn't care about the tension, this guy smelled like dragons. Clouseau sat down next to him and waited for a command. "Deino?"*
Nancy missed the startled look on the faces of her other pokemon.

"What?! Dude, I am not doing that to my family. Plus, can you imagine what she would do to me when she figured it out?! She already suspects you're an informant for the police or something. Just no. I am getting sick of the secrecy. I'll just tell her I have an informant and leave it at that, she knows her acting is terrible, her curiosity will leave her awake at night but I'll make it clear she is not going to get an answer." He looked down at Trevor. The Mawile was the most difficult to get along with in his team. Trevor valued strength and didn't always agree with Kujo, especially when he didn't keep retrying the Elite four until he beat them. "You're mad I was defeated so quickly in Mahogany huh?" Trevor continued to ignore him. It probably didn't help that Kujo hadn't been the one to win him back in battle.
Kujo didn't know what to tell Matt. It surprised him that he didn't tell his little brother about what he was doing.
Brauner sighed, he knew that Trevor was going to be a pain in the neck until he decided Kujo had earned his respect back. The mawile was happy to be back, he just wouldn't admit it except maybe if he made steak.
Darkrai was moving along through the shadows and wanted to see if he could possibly take Matt by surprise. He started reaching out from the shadows behind Matt and intoned in his best ominous voice I have come for your SOUL... Also to tell you Matt, Nick's run off somewhere. Darkrai repeated Nancy's words verbatim without the long uncertain pauses.

(I figure that for every protagonist character that you play in the games there must be at least a hundred trainers that try to beat the Champion and don't quite make it. Also, hope I didn't get the profiles mixed up or else the Deino deferring to the guy isn't going to make much sense isnce he wouldn't be the dragon tamer.)
*Do you have any food for me Master? The nice lady gave me food but she won't give me ketchup.

A Deino and Herdier were sniffing his legs. He wasn't sure what the Herdier was thinking or saying, but the Deino called him it's master and asked for ketchup.
" Ketchup?? Sorry I don't have any, but I do have a spicy-sweet Poffin that taste just like ketchup!" He reached in his coat pocket and took out a red Poffin. He put it in front of where the Deino sat.
" Um the hood? Well..." He was trying to think of a story to tell about it. " It's cause I'm on a mission... And I can't show my face." He said, that was actually the truth believe it or not. He waited until the Herdier was done checking him out to follow the girl's instructions.

"What does ketchup have to do with anything?! Wait a minute...." The Deino happily devoured the poffin in a single bite and clamored for more. He was undeniably enthusiastic about the guy but kept slipping on the ground and came dangerously close to accidentally knocking the guy over.
"Deinodeinodeinodeinodeinodeino..."* He'd say anything to make the guy who smelled like dragons give him more food. Poirot gave a little *ruff* as if to say, 'he's clear' and went back to Nancy.
"You know what, never mind, do you know Clouseau? He was in the woods not far from here." She decided not to ask about the hood, if he did turn out to be a member of the rising criminal syndicate she was going to ask Emerson to take action but right now she didn't feel like fighting. Marple seemed rather relaxed though and got distracted playing with Thursday. The Togepi tended to be agitated around people who didn't mean well.
"Combusken!"
"Eh?" Nancy didn't understand her pokemon and often wished she did but Emerson was doing his best to alert Nancy to the fact that this guy understood Clouseau. He'd gotten good at charades over the years but she thought he said, "Oh, you want one too? I don't have any and you just ate."
Emerson shook his head no and tried again. At any rate the guy was free to leave now while Nancy tried to figure out what Emerson was trying to say.
*"YouarethebestpersoneverandIloveyouanddoyouhavemoreIwantmoreandcanIcanIhavemore...."
"He talks to pokemon!"

" What you mean this Deino? Never seen him before." He said in reply to Nancy.
" Dude calm down. I don't have anymore, sorry." He said crouching down to Deino's height. " You sure are hyper." He petted the Deino.
" So uh I should get going. Thanks for your help." He said getting up and walking in the direction she pointed.

Matt sighed as Darkrai tried to scare him "Come on Darkrai, I've Spooks with me. It'll take a lot more than try to scare me." Matt gazed at Kujo "I'll see you in a couple of days and don't give her any hints about me. I'm relying on you, until then I'm taking my leave." He said as he sank into the shadows with Spooks leaving the Pokemon Center and the town. ---Meanwhile--- Nick spent his time at Team Gamma training and perfecting his skills, most of Team Gamma had no strong trainers, it was too easy for Nick to train so he gained little experience. Hours later, he was seen eating by himself until his Captain asked him to go patrolling around the region. He said nothing but instead nodded. Nick leaped out of the hideout and left.
