"If you leave your weapon?" She repeated the question. Crap. Did Jake look worried? Sherry couldn't tell. "You mean, like in your room?" Sherry had done that once or twice, but she'd never gone farther than the showers. Armagnac?

The weapon didn't sound worried.

"It's not that big a deal, though Armagnac says she doesn't like it. It makes it hard to see, or something. I remember being told not to stray too far without my weapon, though. But, um, I don't think a few minutes will hurt anything. You are just talking about leaving it in your room, right?" If he was talking about farther....Sherry figured they might have a problem.

Yes. He totally looked worried.
But he would vehemently deny it if you brought it up, Sherry.

He paused to think.
Surely Chester was still in his room... unless he somehow got up and walked, which... was highly unlikely. And... well, he really couldn't remember a time he had forgotten to bring him. The thing usually never shut up. But now... it was almost like his presence wasn't even there.

"Even if you leave them... would you still be able to hear them?" He wasn't used to this at all. His head was so utterly quiet.

Was Jake worried about his weapon? Aww. That was kind of cute. If it didn't somehow worry Sherry, too.

"Still hear them?" She was really good at stalling for time while she was thinking. Repeating questions was good for that. As far as Sherry knew, she could always hear Armagnac, except when the tablet incident had occurred.

What do you think?

Armagnac really didn't seem to think they should worry.

"I think in most cases, you can. Remember, though, you are still new, so maybe the bond isn't very strong yet? The distance could be affecting communication," Sherry didn't want to shrug. She also didn't want to just tell Jake that she had no clue. "Your weapon could also just be quiet? I imagine if I left Armagnac behind she wouldn't speak to me for days."

Taking time to process this, he looked away... and eventually realized that his questioning might of suggested he actually had feelings... for his weapons.
The horror.

"J-just so you know, I'm not asking because I'm worried about him, ok? The stupid thing hasn't been talking since we dropped off those artifacts, and with the way he is now, there's no way I can fight properly with him."

Really. That was all. Stop looking too much into it Sherry. Stop. STOP.
Her last comment made him scoff.

"Please, he's ANYTHING but quiet. Stupid thing usually doesn't stop harping on me about useless crap."

<... Do you really of me that way?>
The voice made him do a double-take.
Oh. So NOW you feel like talking.
<... Can you come back? I have something to tell you.>

Jake rolled his eyes.
"Nevermind, false alarm. He was having an episode."

He began making his way back to his room, until he realized he was forgetting something else.
Pausing, he turned back towards Sherry.

"Uh... thanks for the dagger. I'll pay you back when I can."

Without another word, he left.

Not worried about him? Right, sure. That would be like Sherry saying she never worried about Armagnac or that she hated ice cream or something. It would be a big fat lie. She didn't bother to argue, though. She'd learned it was best not to.

She was fully relieved when Jake seemed to calm down. It appeared his weapon was listening, after all. Sherry had seen similar looks before. Weapons giving comments their hunters didn't quite agree with. "Well. That's good then."

It was obvious to her that Jake was done talking. She almost followed him again. Almost. But then he turned and thanked her. She had not been expecting that. By the time she found her voice, he was leaving again. "I already told you not to worry about it," she said after him.

It was Armagnac's turn to surprise Sherry.

It holds things. Sherry looked at the flask again. What else could it do?

Sherry opened it. Even through the small opening she could tell the liquid inside was no longer red. It was rather...blue. And faintly glowing. "That can't be safe."

She sniffed it. Still smelled like wine, though.

Really? She wasn't sure if she trusted it. Surely the techs would have warned her if it was poison, right? They had taken the time to give her a pouch, so yes, they would have. She hoped. Oh, well. One way to know.

She took one quick sip. Yep. It was still wine. Hm. "Well. That's interesting."

She wore a thoughtful expression all the way back to the dorm.
