He didn't look at the picture, because he knew exactly what that mark looked like. He hung around Yin and Danny enough that he could probably draw if from memory.

Rikki grinned back at Mort, because of course the machine would remember him. Rikki was badass. "Jove tried to audition, I think," not that he could confirm so much when the guy had barely said anything. "Prof thinks he's a minipet? Kind of crazy if you ask me. He doesn't look much like a minipet. Just a kid."

Mort blinked as she showed him the photo (did demons need that for the contract maybe?), and then blinked again when she said it was with Yin. Did Alex know about that? Of course he couldn't ask what the contract was for or anything, but one had to wonder . . . "Neat," he agreed simply as he took the paper and pen back, "N' thanks." He hoped he would never get into a situation that required a demon's mark - Medea's was one enough, and Insanity was just icing on top of that.

Speaking of, the whispers were popping back in again past the alcoholic haze, so he'd need to get a new hit soon . . .

So the little kid's name was Jove? Wait, he was the guy who had been giving off the light when they had gone into the tunnel under Amityville . . . "How's figure that?" Mort asked with a little frown, since clearly the guy was standing on two feet and had clothes and everything. "Mrrr . . . Maybe tried out a-as natural form? M'not sure have guts going on stage m'self this time. J'guys try out?"

Alexander had somehow stumbled his way into the auditorium. He had known that there was going to be another Christmas school play production this year, but he really had no intention to try out, considering a) this year there was no dancing part because this was not a musical, and b) last year had turned into an absurd mess involving giant rats, Joy poisoning, and a large assortment of other extremely horrific situations that followed. So no, this year, he was not going to be trying out for the school play, thank you very much.

Except that was sober Alex's reasoning. Tipsy on the verge of being flat out drunk Alex though that trying out for the school play again was not just a fantastic idea, but would also be amusing as hell. He was familiar with the story, of course. The zomboil loved to read books and this was one that he had found time to enjoy on more then one occasion. He wasn't precisely sure what sort of role he should try out for, but he figured he'd work that out once he was actually on stage. Improvisation. Ya, that sounded like a great idea!

The zomboil staggered his way over to the stage, far more unbalanced and clumsy looking then usual. He scrambled his way up, throwing himself at the edge and hauling his overly tall and lanky body over, rolling before collapsing in a spread armed and legged heap on the stage.

Somebody should have mentioned to him that using the stairs at the side of the stage would have been a lot easier.

He was laughing to himself as though somebody had just told him the funniest joke in the world as he rolled on to his front, got his knees under him, and pushed himself to his feet, stumbling a little to one side before regaining his balance and standing...or rather, wavering...in position quite a bit off of center stage.

His laughing had subsided, but a large grin was still spread across his face. He scanned the crowd of students that were in the auditorium, pale gaze spotting a familiar blue tinted boil and giving him an enthusiastic thumbs up before he finally decided it might be time to take this a little more seriously, and looked towards the professor, bringing up a fist to cough lightly into his hand before speaking.

"My name is Alexander, and I'll be trying out for..." Oh ya, he was going to figure that out once he got up here, wasn't he? Well, he was undead, so it stood to reason that he might be best suited to play something dead, right?

"Uh, any of those ghost parts really. Probably Marley...OH or that future ghost guy! He's all about death right? Who knows more about death then an undead who's actually been dead dead?" He was rambling, wasn't he? Well, never mind, it was time to get this show on the road.

"Right soooo, here goes!" He was swinging his arms without even realizing it, but once he did he willed them to stop. He was still grinning when he turned away from the crowd, however, and it took him at least 30 seconds to gain some semblance of composure, to force his features to smooth back out, to lose the smile, to make himself look damn serious about what he was doing.

He started with a low moan that reverberated in his undead chest, starting out quiet but gradually increasing in volume and intensity as he began to turn, arms raising, head lowered but pale eye turned up to stare at the crowd through a haze of white hair, mouth twisted up into something gruesome and evil and no longer even remotely represented or resembled Alex's usual laid back and easy demeanor.

"Ebeeeeeennneeeezzeeeeeerrrrr" His voice hissed at the end of the moan, his voice low and rasping, before he began all over again, this time the name itself stretched out and moaned from beginning to end. "Ebbeeeennnnneeeeeeeeezzzzzeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr."

He paused, his head slowly tilting to one side as he staggered two steps forward, the bones of his left leg rattling, though he wished he had some chains. Chains would have been great.

"Ask me who I was....in life." He rasped, speaking to the crowd as though they were the one's playing scrooge. His head turned by the slowest of increments as his pale eye landed on every member of the audience.

"I am here tonight to warn you. You must change your ways, or your fate will become as mine. You will be visited by three ghosts!" His voice rose with every word, louder and louder until the last.

Pause for dramatic effect.

He began to shuffle backwards, skeletal foot scraping against the stage floor, one arm lowering to his side as the other remained raised, index finger uncurling to point, leveled on Professor Rengath himself. He continued to back away, arm moving, hand coming up to make a slashing movement across the zomboils neck, exactly where his stitches lay across his skin, holding closed the angry and red wound beneath.

And at that point Alex just couldn't stay serious anymore and his face split with a grin as he straightened back up, his hands falling to his sides as he shrugged. The first part of his audition had obviously been for Marley while the second for the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come so he felt like all of his bases were covered now. He gave a clumsy bow, all smiles and uncoordinated limbs once more as he stumbled his way off of the stage.

When he was sober again, if he actually somehow managed to land himself a role, he was probably going to hate himself. A lot.

"Nahhh. I'll probably just do music with Roch again or something. I kinda want to, but I dunno what I'd play," she said.

Alex went up to audition and Danny watched with eager eyes. He wasn't too bad! The moaning was sort of weird, but then, Danny had never seen the play or the movie or whatever. She had no idea what was going on.

When he was finished, Danny clapped and hollered just the same. Quietly though, she leaned over to Rikki and whispered, "Was that good?"

Muka bobbled his way on stage with his usual stare and grin. He was an alumni of the play, having been in last years, but he had gained a bit of weight since then. He wasn't unrecognizable but he certainly looked a bit different. It seemed that the strix was relying on his looks for the part he wanted and had brought a big fluffy robe to wear over his usual pristine suit.

"AH heh.." He giggled a bit. "I'm Ulmuka Knobwalker. I'd like to audition for the part of the ghost of Christmas Present."

He then stepped to the side, adjusted his robe, shifted his gut around a bit, and struck a pose. Then suddenly with no prompting he screeched out.

"If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, none other of my species will find him here. But if he is to die, then let him die...! 'AND DECREASE THE SURPLUS POPULATION!'"

After that he simply bowed, grinned, shifted his large wings, and shuffled off stage.

Jove never thought he'd be so relieved to see that annoying gryphon big brother, and the moment he had his feet under him he butted his head against Ren's chest. It was a little forceful, but how else was Jove supposed to express himself?

But then Ren had to keep going.

And that called for a little brother intervention.

Grabbing Ren's wing in one hand, the irritation in the air was palpable as the pup began to drag the gryphon back down towards the seats and away from confrontation. Right over to the reaper in fact, because after nearly throwing up and having his brother intervene on his behalf, the little ghost had something to prove. He sat down with a soft 'flump' sound, and crossed his arms in front of him. He still looked a little green around the gills, but he did what he always did, and tried to mask it behind a scowl.

Ages ago, Belladonna had auditioned for the school play. She hadn't gotten the part, but had at least attended and had a jolly time in the audience. Mostly, she kind of stopped paying attention to the play half way through and just hadn't bothered with going any other year in between. Still! That fact did not diminish her want to try out once more this year.
So with all the grace and poise she possessed, as well as a good clacking introduction thanks to her heels, Belladonna walked to the very middle of the stage and carefully situated herself in a proper standing position that was at once flattering to herself and yet dynamic. She smiled down at the person running this whole show and dipped her head in a quick, polite nod. Then she straightened and began.
"Hello! My name is Belladonna Divine and I would like to audition for the role of narrator. This is a vastly important role, even if the audience never sees or truly notices them. A good narrator is needed to not only help carry the play, but set the proper tone and foreshadowing. THEY ALSO NEED EXCELLENT SPEAKING SKILLS AND A GOOD, CARRYING VOICE. As well as a dramatic sense of speaking and interacting with the play while still remaining separated from the action. It is an integral part of the play, which only demands the most deserving and passionate of speakers. Thank you for your time." The witch swept into a curtsey and happily pranced from the stage.
All through out her speech she had done quite a lot of hand movements, and had accompanied the louder section with a very sudden jump forward. It had all been very dramatic. Perhaps a little over the top, more like someone performing a soliloquy rather than just giving a small, practiced speech. Still, the witch looked happy enough as she gave the director one last hand wave before she disappeared off the stage.

Freya snuck in, very quietly. She didn't want anyone to notice her, or try to get her on stage. She was just there to see what was going on. At first, all she saw were people on stage acting out weirdly. But soon enough she realized it was a play, and some of her favorite people were trying out!

So she took a seat as far in the back as possible, and slunk down to watch them.

Kettil had meandered in after Freya but he froze mid way as he stared at the stage. Oh. Right. They did this every year? Huh! Kettil quietly soon followed suit after his ghoulfriend sitting next to her and slouching a bit comically down next to her.

He stared over at her, "Y'know...I'll have been here an entire year when next month rolls 'round."
PostPosted: Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:10 am

Freya grinned at Kettil when he said it. "A whole year! Feels like I've known yeh my whole life. I guess I haven't been here that much longer! Maybe a couple months?" She scratched her head, thinking hard about what a different person she'd been coming to Amityville. "Seems strange what a year can do.."

She looked up, catching Muka's performance and giggling. "I didn't gets teh sees teh play last year. I was out shoppings!"

He grinned as he watched the auditions going on stage. They seemed to be having fun. He looked over at Freya again and seemed to think a moment, "I didn't see much of the play cause Lar an' I wanted t'chatter...We also bickered a lot..."

Kettil's expression went a little sad and he shrugged.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:19 am

Freya turned back to look at him again, catching the tender sadness in his eyes and frowning. She brushed her hand against the top of his head, and kissed it softly. This place did not have good memories for him.

"Come on." She whispered, trying not to disturb the play as Bella was up for audition. She sounded lovely, and Freya knew she'd come to see the play if her friends got the parts they wanted. But for now, she just wanted to get Kettil out of there. "Let's go back outside where we can talks again, ja?"

She took both of his hands in her own, and crouched very carefully, leading him back out to the exit.

Kettil let out a small happier sound as she kissed the top of his head and he seemed to relax just a little more. He had been about to protest but she had already gotten out of her seat and had both of his hand in hers drawing him out of his seat to follow her. Kettil appreciated that his ghoulfriend was so mindful of his feelings but if she had wanted to stay and enjoy the show he would have done so with her.

Memories can be remolded if he had the strength to sit through the pains of the old one.

Still, he nodded, he saw the wisdom in her wanting to leave so they could talk more openly together and not disturb others. He glanced back over at the others and gave an encouraging smile as he left with Freya.

A play. Finally, something that she knew. At least in part. Lan enjoyed the few plays they had held on the isle and maybe, just maybe she could enjoy this one, even if at the current moment, they were nothing more than auditions. It would be nice to just sit in one something that was not... base. Or very slimy. Or... with alpacas. She could do without any of that. Or shame.

There was no shame in watching play try outs right?
She looked around.

She hoped not. Maybe she could just.. start her reading later. And cry a bit too

Miyako heard voices as she was wandering around. Was there some sort of play going on over there? Try outs apparently. She thought she would stay and watch for a little while. She couldn't participate but that didn't mean she couldn't watch. Besides, she liked plays.

One ghoul kind of stood out, so Miyako walked up to her. "H-hi I..I think you would be a great narrator. I um..heard you from far away."

She hadn't understood some words the ghoul said, only because her vocabulary skills weren't quite that high, but she did feel the ghoul sounded confident spoke clearliry and would be very dedicated. Not that her opinion mattered, but she just thought she would tell the ghoul how she felt.
