Wide eyed, Rep nodded, eager to do anything at all to get Rin out of here without her bleeding out on the fields. It felt in some ways like his own life was on the line along with hers. Stupid, ******** stupid of him, all for the sake of a rush, for the sake of a charge.
He undid his belt and slid it off, handing it over.
"We need to fix her."

"They'll fix her inside."
Harrison tried to remember the s**t from those stupid manuals.
He accepted the belt, and bundled the jacket around both sides of her neck, packing it closely around her ears and shoulders without jostling it.
He looked at Rep.
"We've got to get her onto Tracey. But we got to strap down everything that's got a chance of moving, and when we make the lift, it's got to be in sync."

He wasn't a medic. He'd never read any of the books Harrison had gathered up, hadn't thought it necessary. But right now he really ******** wished he knew how stretchers worked, how to carry an injured person. Everything about him was willing as he paid rapt attention to the moon. It was tough, his brain felt like it kept shifting out of focus, his heart racing. Every second counted and he was wasting them thinking. He couldn't look at Rin, there was so much ******** blood.
"Sync. Okay. I'll follow your lead." He didn't trust himself to take any sort of initiative. If Tracey needed moving, he'd move him, with one hand on the axe at least it kept it light enough to be manageable.

Harrison undid his sash, and did some more securing. Anything that looked loose or like it could flop around.
"Okay," he said, "Put Tracey alongside her. I'll get the top half. She's already...I mean, she shouldn't move too much. So get our arms under her, and we ease her up, and together we put her down." He looked over at Rep, who was still looking out of it. "You with me?"

He nodded. "Aye. I am." He didn't feel like he was but he had to hold it together, he couldn't lose it when both of them needed him to fix his ******** up. Tracey was positioned as neatly as he could. His hands were shaking, he frowned at them for their lack of co-operation and tried to ignore it.
As directed, he positioned his arms carefully under her, absolutely cautious not to move her too much until Harrison was set. As soon as he lifted her, Rep did too, placing her on the axe, moving along to take hold of the hook end of the blade, the end he really didn't want Harrison anywhere near.
"He should be light."

Another round of securing, this time to Tracey, "Hope you don't mind too much," he muttered to the weapon, and then he stooped to take Tracey's handle.
"Same thing. Move together. Keep it steady. Ready?"
Harrison readied himself.
"Lift-"
They were about the same heights, and they worked together often enough. The walk from the training fields still felt too long, and when they finally dropped her off at the ER, Harrison was harried and bloody.
He took his jacket and sash back as they got her onto an actual gurney, with actual braces and straps. s**t.

As they carried her to the infirmary, Rep felt like he was carrying a coffin, focused entirely on matching pace with Harrison, at least that was second nature. Blood kept dripping onto the ground sickeningly as they went, blood he'd tasted, blood he'd heard close to his ear in the quiet night time when he'd first uprooted his life and needed someone to be with. And now she could die. He couldn't cope with it, he couldn't even begin to digest what that would mean, so he locked down on it. Pushed it out of his head.
They took her away and he stood and stared at where the medics had been, holding the belt in his hand, Tracey desummoned.
He didn't say a word.
