Harrison laughed and pushed back his hood, giving Rep's cheek a rough kiss.
"Maybe we oughta hold hands."
He leaned away to check the portal, which lead to an empty living room.

With just a simple gesture, suddenly the self conciousness didn't seem to matter any longer.
He permitted himself a silly little smile as Harrison checked out the portal.

"Just taking the scenic route. There's probably another way through. Bet HQ will appreciate a map of the place, anyhow. We can file it in the report."

"At least this time I know if I see bits of starfish I've gone too far." he said, not able to help a chuckle. "And aye man. Promotion. Huge ******** sprawling rooms and money."
He had an idea. "We didn't check like over this way. Where the first one was. Maybe it came back!" He actually took Harrison's hand in his enthusiasm and hauled both of them back to the clearing. The portal was back.

Harrison was pretty well distracted at this point.
"Enough money to fill a yacht," he crooned, "if we get something good."
Even though he'd been joking, Harrison happily kept a grip on Rep's hand this time.

A break was exactly what Rep needed, and as he returned to the weeping forest, it was with a definite spring in his step. Even the oppressive atmosphere of Halloween couldn't dampen his spirits. He was only too happy to scout ahead like some kind of portal sniffer dog, checking under trees, behind low lying shrubs and generally maintaining a high strung pace.
He found a portal, but leaning in close to it, he caught the scent of peppermint and sweets and didn't look in again.

It didn't deter him and he quickly wandered off to check some other likely places.
This one smelled like mint too.

This ******** place was seeming like a major entryway to Christmas, as the next portal he found also had all the telltale markers of leading directly to the elves.

The next portal he wasn't sure of. It had a hazy uncertain quality about it, not quite christmas, and not quite like the others he'd seen. He peeked into it just to be certain it was what it suspected.
A musty house littered with old furniture, with the familiar smell of mouldy wood and dust.
The haunted house.
He very swiftly drew back out of it. Nope.

The next portal was also hazy and uncertain. He carefully checked it just to be sure.
And almost leapt out of his skin as an entire locker room of scantily clad ladies screamed in surprise. He yelped and staggered back out of the portal, landing squarely on his a**.
"Not that one."

The forest was pretty ripe with portals. You had to be trying really hard NOT to find one.
