Nate gave Matt a slightly terrified look. "I didn't know." he hissed back before standing wide eyed as the massive dragon bid them good afternoon. Things were always surreal but today perhaps marginally more than usual. It took all of his effort to retain his composure and not give into the very human instincts yelling in his head to turn tail and run.

---

Tracey skimmed to daintily alight on the ground in front of Ferros before practically skipping the few meters over to Nacht, leaping into a hug. "Hey~" he crooned, rubbing his cheek to the demon's.

--

All Nacht could do was try and ignore the clingy fallen angel boil who made his skin absolutely crawl, repeating over and over in his head that this wasn't his real body, just a shell, and that he had to be charming. He held Tracey in his arms with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, before turning the same smile on Ferros. "Afternoon, you must be the friend that Traciel's told me all about!"

They usually dealt with the kids when the things were more human-shaped, held in check by their pins, and Matt forgot sometimes that some of the things had other forms. 'Nova was laughing nastily in his mind, and back on the island, one of the monitoring techs was probably having a good laugh at his heart rate on the lifesigns screens. Matt mentally kicked himself, furious, and slipped into his role.

"Aren't you just adorable," the succubus crooned, her yellow eyes sparkling. Anyone who had heard her speaking only a minute previously would have been startled; her previously masculine voice had pitched upwards to a breathy, feminine tone, and her distinctly New York accent had altered flawlessly into a Southern drawl. She prowled forward gracefully, giving the two creatures a big, friendly smile. "I'm Jynna! I've known Nacht practically since we were pumpkins, but I've never seen him quite so smitten! You're something special, Traciel honey."

That for Nate and his little insinuations, Matt thought with satisfaction. Now for the big one.

Jynna turned to the dragon with a birdlike tilt of her head, giving him a sultry look. "My goodness, you are a big strong one," she purred. "I've never seen anything quite like you. You gave us a bit of a start with that roar of yours. Just lovely."

-----

Ferros watched Nacht carefully. He'd mostly talked himself out of his misgivings last night, but they'd come roaring back as soon as he saw the demon's cold smile. "Yes," he rumbled. "Ferros. Tracey has been talking about you a lot."

The succubus's forward friendliness surprised and distracted him, though, and what she said made him doubt his instincts again. Nacht was ... terribly smitten? A scareling friend would be better able to judge the demon's moods, and if Jynna thought that this cool, slightly stiff behavior was normal, could gush about how in love the demon was ... well, maybe he was misinterpreting the signals, Ferros thought uncomfortably.

As her attention turned to him, yellow eyes going almost predatory in their focus, he felt even less comfortable. Succubi and incubi tended to be like that, he reminded himself. "Thank you," he answered, glad that his face didn't give away his emotions easily. "A pleasure to meet you."

His tail lashed once, involuntarily, and he felt a tree splinter against his metal and winced at the crashing sound.

Sometimes Nate wished he'd joined Life, then he could be on the other end of this situation, maybe playing solitaire while the unfortunate Death hunter had to get demon all over them in Halloween. At least Matt was proving useful, even despite their bickering, able to do his job when it counted. Tracey fluffed up his feathers approvingly at the succubus' words, all but preening at the compliments. "Hello Jynna, nice to meet you!" He hugged Nacht just a little tighter, leaning in to say quietly to him. "I missed you."

Nacht however was only half paying attention to the fallen angel in his arms. He'd noticed you could just let him ramble on and he would be just fine without too much actual input other than a nod or two and a "that's nice". Affection starved apparently, which he didn't really get given that he seemed to have a thing for the dragon boil - at the very least he never shut the hell up about him. Ferros this, Ferros that. The creatures had little rhyme or reason.

His smile didn't fade in the slightest as he eyed the dragon, though he found himself curious what sort of trouble he'd be in if they got it back to the island and it went on a rampage. At the same time though, the temptation of such a weapon would be glowing on his reports. "Has he now?" the smile turned genuine, flattery at least effective on him in earnest, he even leaned over to kiss Tracey's cheek. Good subject, talking about him meant this was working. "That's fantastic to hear."

Tracey beamed at Ferros. He'd been hoping both of them would get along and so far things seemed great, maybe he'd picked correctly after all.

Nacht almost dropped him as Ferros accidentally clipped the tree and the fallen angel couldn't help but laugh. "Hahah, you gave Nacht a terrible fright there Ferr. " he gave the demon a smile "You are so nervous today! I bet it's meeting my friend, don't worry, he doesn't bite, he's lovely."

PostPosted: Sun Dec 02, 2012 4:17 pm

"He says you've been telling him about a FEAR ability he could learn, something powerful," Ferros said. "He's been very excited about the things you've been telling him. I like seeing him so happy and curious." Was that too transparently affectionate? This was Tracey's boilfriend, after all. "We study together a lot," he added. "I'm curious myself."

He turned his head to examine the destruction his tail had wrought and sighed a long plume of steam. If he got any twitchier, he'd knock down half the grove. Reluctantly, he asked, "Tracey, would you put my pin back on me? I'm knocking things over again."

-----

Matt jumped again as the tree fell with a crash. Well, that would have startled anyone, he figured. Now that he'd seen the two things, he agreed with Nate's assessment; it'd be a shame to have to ditch the friend. Both of them looked like good weapon candidates.

"My, my," Jynna crooned. "I'd like to see you really trying to knock things down. I bet you can cause some serious destruction."

-----

Ferros dug the claws of one forefoot into the ground anxiously. He didn't like this Jynna either, but she seemed to like him, and he wasn't quite sure how to discourage her without seeming rude. He wanted to make a good impression for Tracey's sake. He rumbled low in his chest, but made no verbal reply.

If it was too familiar or affectionate, Nacht gave no sign of it, Nate had a strong suspicion that being unfussed about the fallen angel's attachment to the dragon boil was one surefire way to keep him on his side. After all, it hardly mattered to him of they had designs on one another, all that mattered to him was edging them both into their control. "Yes! I'm glad he filled you in a little."

Tracey released the other demon from his vice like grip and skipped lightly over to Ferros, fishing in the loose folds of his clothing for the magnetic pin, which he neatly placed on the enormous steel plating of his friend. "Here you go Ferr."

Jynna though, might just have gotten slitted red eyes narrowed at her as Tracey turned back to Nacht. It was one thing to want Ferros to be friends with Nacht's friends, but it was something altogether different when it was Nacht's friends flirting with his friend. "Ferros is very strong." Tracey stated to her, something about the tone underpinned with an implied too-strong-for-you edge to it.

He moved back to Nacht's side and listened intently as the demon elaborated. "Well, this particular FEAR ability is old. Very old and very powerful. I'm sure both of you have heard about humans and how we are linked to them in a lot of ways. This ability. Well. Its power is comparable to having your own human at all times, able to exist in the other world as long as you want, why we wouldn't even need to finish school, we could just, skip all of that."

PostPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 10:10 am

The click of pin on metal was accompanied by the inward-folding sensation of transformation, the shimmery heat-haze and blur as Ferros's body returned to its humanoid state. He regained his balance on legs, shook his tail, and suppressed a sigh. "Thank you, Tracey," he said with as much dignity as he could manage.

Tracey had also apparently noticed his discomfort with Jynna's flirting. Ferros relaxed slightly as his friend interceded protectively on his behalf, and paid careful attention to Nacht's explanation. "We could remain in the human world to work indefinitely with this technique, with no need to complete schooling?" he asked cautiously. It sounded a little too good to be true.

-----

Oooooh, back OFF, ghoulie, 'Nova snickered. He no like that at allllllll. Jiggle you big titties at metal one, see how mad little one get.

Can't, bitchface, Matt replied. Can't screw this up for Nate, much as I might like to. He's kinda got us by the balls. Anyway, if I help, we'll get some of the glory.

In spite of Matt's irritation, Jynna's smile never slipped. It might have increased a little as she listened to Nacht's description of the "FEAR ability." "I'd love to have a human all my own," she giggled. "It sounds like fun too, doesn't it?"

Nacht nodded. "You could be as at home in the human world as any human ever was, it's power beyond what most people here will ever know. I wanted to share the first chance with the people important to me. " he shot Tracey a warm and affectionate smile, which the angel dotingly returned. "And the people important to them." He gave Ferros as friendly a smile as he could manage. "I've done my research, there is nothing in any rules or laws I've found thus far against it, we would be in the clear with the boogeymen."

Tracey, despite responding to Nacht, had his attention mostly on the demon's friend. He wasn't warming a great deal to Jynna, wary of what she wanted with Ferros. He was leery that it was somehow romantically inclined, which as far as he was concerned was unacceptable. He wanted the dragon boil involved a great deal but at the same time hadn't brought him here to match him up with anyone. It probably wasn't nice of him to think that way, Ferros deserved to be happy as much as anyone else, but he just couldn't deal with it right now at all.

At least, despite his misgivings about her romantic intent, Tracey wasn't wary enough of the succubus as to doubt her interest in the technique at hand, agreeing with her at least in that much. "It does. I really wouldn't mind having a pet human." It would be like having minipet but far more useful and exotic. With a human of your own, you could go anywhere and would pretty much have endless power, it was a seductive idea - the seeds of which, once planted, were difficult to shake off.

He beamed at Ferros, feathers bristling with enthusiasm. "What do you think Ferr? We could go on adventures!"

PostPosted: Sun Dec 09, 2012 1:12 pm

"I would have thought such a useful technique would be better known," Ferros said, but his curiosity had been piqued. The idea of being able to remain in the human world indefinitely, perhaps with a human at your command, was a seductive one; he still suspected that Nacht wasn't being entirely forthcoming about the legalities of this plan, but that was a relatively minor objection. "I would like to hear more about it."

In truth, his decision had already been made. Tracey wanted to do this, and so they would. Ferros didn't know when or how the fallen angel's plans and dreams had become his own, but he knew that he would follow Tracey to the ends of the worlds and beyond as his protector and friend.

He did shoot a slightly uncertain look at Jynna. Would she be participating in this project as well? He could only hope that the succubus wouldn't get upset when he continued to turn down her too-friendly overtures. She seemed cheerful and bubbly, though; perhaps she wouldn't take it personally.

"That kind of power has to be kept to the select few or it could destabilise everything, it's simply a safety procedure, until we know the ins and outs of what heights of power its capable of, we want to keep it selective." Nacht tried to keep his smile as trustworthy as possible, despite the urge to fall back into his usual condescending smile.

Tracey liked the idea of being one of the only people capable of serious magic, power was something he couldn't resist, a flaw he'd always possessed. Always terrible at his studies and physically fragile looking he was generally subject to the odd snipe at his diminutive height. One day he wanted to shut them all up with a blaze of glory. There was always a fear that one day Ferros would graduate and he would fail, that he would be nothing but a burden on his friend's career. He was so eager to feel power and strength, so eager to be equal.

"How about we do one better than tell you about it, how would you like to see the human world?" Nacht continued.

Tracey seemed to light up even more, the human world was practically mythical in his mind. "We can?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 11, 2012 4:50 am

"Nacht, are you sure we should?" Jynna seemed worried. "Shouldn't we ask your mentor first before we bring someone else over?" She clasped her hands over her chest. "I mean, I know you trust them, but I don't want to get in trouble ... "

Ferros puffed steam thoughtfully. He'd been about to ask if Nacht had permission to bring them along on an out-of-world trip, but Jynna had asked first. Oddly, that calmed his rising unease. Perhaps Nacht really was just naturally cold in manner, and the demon was actually as excited as Tracey about this venture. "If we can, I would like to see it," he agreed carefully.

"It will be fine." Nate replied with a wave of his taloned hand. "These fine civilised gentlemen won't cause any trouble. We won't get in trouble and nor will they." He smiled perhaps a little too sweetly at Jynna. It would be fine, this would go well and he'd get all the respect he was deserved and maybe Matt would get a few crumbs of favour too. "Don't worry your pretty little head about it."

Tracey too seemed reassured by this and even skipped over to beam up at Ferros. "Ready to go?"

PostPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2012 1:35 pm

Jynna huffed and made a very unladylike gesture at Nacht, but then she giggled sweetly. "I'm just a worrywart, you know me," she crooned.

Ferros angled a smile at Tracey, unable to help getting caught up in his friend's enthusiasm. "You're so excited. I'm ready," he said.

"Fantastic." Nacht stated, without actually remembering to sound enthusiastic as he did so. "Well don't you worry your silly little head Jynna, let me do the worrying for us." He finally managed to crack a smile as he looked back at Ferros and Tracey, the new jewels in his crown. "Come then, follow me, there is a doorway set up in the forest." He didn't wait for a reply, simply turned and headed off into the trees.

He didn't have to wait, as soon as he left, Tracey was on his heels, taking Ferros' hand to try and lead him along despite being so much smaller.

PostPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 11:55 am

Ferros let Tracey lead him, inclining his head with a small smile, reservations put aside for the moment. Tracey was happy, and this might well set them both - no, all - on a path to success.

Jynna brought up the rear, sashaying lazily after the group. Perfect, really. These things were so utterly gullible.

The portal was where he had left it far enough from the trail to be unlikely to be stumbled upon but close enough he could still find it. It hung there, a circle of abnormality, bright against the dark forest. He paused and checked it was stable "Follow me and don't worry, this is all very straightforward, the humans on the other side are long time friends of my family, they are not hostile to creatures like us. It is just much safer to keep things on this side of the portal"

As he led the way through, Tracey was ridiculously eager to follow.
