Briella nodded slowly. She didn't think that Dyakida was smelling things, she had more faith in her sister then that, but if she said she was smelling things then she was. She didn't smell anything herself, but then again she seemed to have really good taste buds but nothing else. Then again taste was related to smell, so it was kind of weird. She tried not to think about it to much.
She was looking down the left hallway when Dya appeared to hear something coming from the right. She wasn't listening or paying attention to the right, so she hadn't heard the moaning. Though When Dya suggested that they go right she nodded, standing a little in front of Dya as they walked into the room. If she had heard something then maybe there was something dangerous in there, and while she felt like Dya could protect herself if she needed to she wasn't going to take any chances. At seeing the women her eyes went wide. "Dya there is someone in here!" At first she went into a protective stance to protect her sister but at seeing that Se'noda was hurt she ran towards her. "Dya she is hurt!"

Dyakida trailed behind, listening for the breathing. It was definitely there. Was it an animal? An Earthling? An Alkidike? Some spirit of the strange ruin? She stopped short, letting Briella go in further. "Someone?" despite her calm demeanor, despite her efforts, a bit of her wariness broke though. She couldn't help it. This place was spooky. She could hear the settling of age on the walls. She could hear their steps on the smooth, dusty floor. Could hear the scuttling of small creatures beyond her touch. She could even feel the weight of ages untold around her, and the strangeness of the place and its objects. And, proud Alkidike aside, it scared her. This place awed and scared her. She half expected monsters and ghosts of old to accost them at any moment... and she didn't even believe in ghosts herself. "Hurt...? Hurt how?" she let go of her sister, standing still and feeling through her bag (cautious now because of the strange wire device) "I... have some cloth and an emergency kit, I think." She fumbled for them, taking out a bundle containing clothen bandages, salve wrapped in leaves to preserve it, string, and medicinal berries. Kishku always insisted that they take at least one bundle with them. Dyakida's prideful wandering had left her with injuries on more than one occasion, so she had recently taken to carrying one of these bundles herself... Except she kept forgetting she had them. The bundles weren't of much use if they weren't used. Admittedly, they were for minor wounds, or for holding out until you could get home. But perhaps it could be of help to... whoever? whatever? was there...

Briella could not get her eyes off of Se'noda. She was an Earthling, and although she was breathing her eyes were closed and she hadn't moved since her and Dya entered the room. She was alive, but Briella wasn't sure if she was conscious. As Dyakida looked through her bag she took a step towards the women. "Hello? Hello? My name is Briella, what happened to you?" she asked not sure if the women would hear her. When Dyakida pulled out the bundle she looked back at Se'noda. "Dya, this won't be enough... She looks really really hurt." Although she couldn't tell what exactly happened, there was a lot of blood on Se'noda's left side of her stomach and her right leg. One of her arms seemed to be bent strangely but she wasn't sure if it was broken or not.
"Dya... What do we do?" She wouldn't make it with just the kit they had, and if they left her Briella was sure she would die. The younger sister in her looked to Dyakida for guidance as she often did. She wasn't sure how close an Earthling village would be, or if taking her back to their tree would be faster. Both places could be dangerous for the Earthling, or for them. Oh why did she feel so adventurous earlier!

"I... Think it would be wrong to leave her here." said Dyakida. She could not in good conscience leave a woman to die, if that was would happen. Shifters may be enemies, Earthlings may be ungrateful tenants on the Alkidike's Tendaji, but this woman had done them no harm. They had no reason to harm her. But where would they go? She didn't know where the nearest Shifter village was, she didn't know if Kishku would even treat this... woman? Briella had said 'she' after all. The tree would be faster but... Kishku hated Earthlings. "If we... can't take her with us..." Dyakida's fingers touched her dagger.
~~~ Se'noda stirred, and her breathing caught in her open mouth, as if in response to Briella's call. Her eyes opened, very slightly. They were crusted and dimmed, likely not seeing anything but delusions- she was feverish, her skin burningly warm to the touch. She whispered something, her voice raspy and dry, but too quiet to make out anything. Her mouth was dry, her tongue white. Her skin hung oddly and loosely. She needed water, yet the waterskin near her was devoid of even a drop. Eventually she stopped trying to whisper and closed her eyes again, coughing painfully as she slipped back into unconciousness. ~~~
Dyakida listened quietly. Her ears were sharp, but even she was having a hard time catching what the woman had said. She wasn't close enough to touch her, only to smell her and hear her suffering. "Clouds. She said something about clouds?" said Dyakida, softly. She was no warrior. She never would be. "Briella..." she said quietly "You are the Blade among us. We cannot, as honorable Alkidikes leave her here to die a slow and painful death." she felt for her sister's shoulder and laid a hand on it, kneeling down and placing her dagger in the space between them. "But I can't tell you what to do. You will have to grow up soon, and make your own decisions. I will support you wherever you turn, sister. Do we end her suffering here, or take her from here and try to save her life? Do we take her home? Do we take her to a village? Do we hide her and care for her ourselves?" Dyakida squeezed Briella's shouder, her antennae twitching close to her sister. "This is up to you, and will determine your path forever." "I am your sister, I will always be your sister, I will always be there for you, no matter what you do."
Briella just stood there, wishing she was anywhere but where she was at that very moment. When the women's eyes opened even slightly Briella went to her side, sure that there was no way this women would be able to hurt her. When she whispered Briella had no clue what she was going to say, what she did know was this women would die if they left her.
The women coughed and Dyakida started speaking. Normally her words were comforting, but this time there were anything but. She wanted to remind her sister that she was not a blade just yet, she was still an apprentice, but she was pretty sure Dya was referring to the fact that Briella would one day become one where Dya would not.
Her words were true. Briella was the youngest, but it was about time she grew up. Closing her eyes she tried to rememeber exactly where they were. She remember parting ways with the only shifter she ever met, Biroki, but she wasn't sure in what direction he walked. Part of her wanted to believe it was close to the ruins, but she wasn't sure. "You are right sister. We cannot leave her. I do not believe we should kill her, although she is sick I do believe the earthlings and their magic will be able to save her. I don't think she would live if we brought her back home... We must take her to the earthlings. I might know where they live. We will get as close as possible, and you will stay there while I bring her to them." it was risky, but she would not have the death of this woman on her hands. "Hold on to me, I'm going to pick her up and lead up out of here." Adjusting her bag Briella picked Se'noda up in her arms. The earthling was much lighter then she could have ever imagined.
Leading them out of the ruins she started in a way that would bring them into the very same village that Brioki lived in, though she was unaware of this fact. She made sure to tell Dya when things were in the way so her sister was safe but she was more worried if the earthling would make it to their destination.
Dyakida smiled quietly. She could feel her sister tense. Didn't Briella know that she always had Dyakida'a approval in a decision like this? Being able to make such a choice was enough. However, it was the... better option, in her opinion. Dyakida, too, did not want this death at her hands. "All right." said Dyakida, keeping a hand on Briella at all times, her face beaming with pride for her sister, "Where you go, I will follow" She felt good. She felt that she was forging Briella into a good warrior. A balanced warrior, strong of body and will, and compassionate. Something Niebet lacked.
~~~ The woman was clearly gravely ill. She was light as a feather, halfway to a corpse. Water, when given, was almost absorbed by her parched mouth. She coughed as the careful trickles touched her throat, but did not wake, limp as a bony ragdoll in Briella's arms.
The shifter village was in the canopy, but even before the treetop homes could be seen, there was a feeling of being watched.
~~~ Dyakida's antennae twitched as she passed under the boughs. She heard nothing, but the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. "Briella? Theres something in the trees... Somethings." she corrected herself. Were they the shifters? Were they insects? Their walk had been quiet thus far.
Briella smiled, happy with her choice and even happier that Dyakida supported her and seemed to be happy with her choice. She could feel the pride that her sister felt, and it made her happier. Plus the pride she felt made carrying the earthling even better. She hadn't even being paying attention or else she would have also felt all the eyes on the little trio. However because she wasn't paying attention it wasn't until Dyakida said something that she noticed. Placing the earthling down she grabbed her blades, prepared to protect Dyakida.
"Hello? We found this one hurt and we are bringing her to you so that you can save her. If you want we will leave her here and leave or I could bring her up." Briella knew that she was stronger then most Earthlings but maybe they had someone who could come grab the woman, she was extremely light.
An earthling came out of the shadows of the trees, bow drawn. "What did you do?" they asked, advancing cautiously. Someone jumped down from behind and advanced on the two alkidikes. "Jalcin... It's Sen!" "You're sure?" "Yes! I'd know that scar anywhere" "You! Get Reshel over here!" the scout on the ground waves and a tree nearby rustles. "Set her down here, and sit down. Both of you."
~~~
"It... seems they know her." said Dyakida quietly
~~~
Soon a large shifter male holding a book and a bag of strong-smelling herbs came rushing from the trees. "Sen...? Is it really her?" He gasped, panting as he set down his things and approached his patient, almost with a degree of trepidation.
Briella's eyes narrowed at the earthling. What did she do? She saved the woman's life? "I did what most wouldn't, I brought her here for you to save her. Many would have left her to die, or worse." Briella said. However when the shifter told her to put the woman down she moved the woman to where he pointed. She had brought the women this far, what was a few more inches.
"Yes, it appears that they do know her. It seems we brought her to the right place." Bri told Dyakida.
"We are not for you to command to sit anywhere. We brought her here to you and now I think we shall be on our way." she said sternly before taking a step backward and taking Dyakida's hand. Part of her wanted to ask if the women would make it, but it wasn't really any of her business.
She felt Briella tug on her hand, but stood her ground. "We understand your suspicion, but we are not responsible for her current condition." Dyakida said, calmly. Exactly what that condition was, she didn't want to ask about until they were back, safe and sound, at their tree.
"My sister is correct..." She said, standing tall and proud, "Many would have left her to die, but we did not."
She let herself follow Briella now, standing straight and tall.
We will go now, but remember this day. We saved one of your own, and you have not repayed us. The debt is still there, unbalanced." A small, secretive smile played across her face before she remembered that others could see it.
She composed her face into something serious and nodded in the general direction of the healer. "I hope she pulls through." She said, before turning to Briella, head held high, "Lets go, sister" her voice lowered to a whisper as they left. "This was fun, Brie, We should go on adventures more often."
When Dyakida straightened behind her Briella felt a smile tug at her lips. It was always nice knowing her sister had her back. When Dyakida told the earthlings they owed them a favor a smile almost spread across her face before she realized it, but she quickly masked it in the way that only her or one of her sisters could.
Moving with Dyakida she walked away, heading towards their home but walking in such a way that they would never be able to be followed unless it was an extremely skilled tracker doing the tracking.
"Yes Dyakida, we should go on many more. Remember we have to bring the special item to the Elder. Maybe she will have some use for it." She said squezzing Dya's hand. "Thanks back there. I'm glad I had you with me. I don't know what I'd do without you. I'm glad that I chose to follow you guys here. I don't know what my life would have been like without you in it." she said happily. Today was an adventure that she would not soon forget.
Dyakida squeezed Briella's hand back. "I'm glad you were with me, too. I wouldn't have been so... brave if I hadn't been doing it on your behalf... I likely wouldn't have even found them if you hadn't been with me." She was quiet for a moment. "Briella... Thank you. For everything. If you hadn't followed us... I..." her voice caught. They were still far from home, so it was... safe... "If it wasn't for you, Briella... I... might as well have died when that monster attacked. If it wasn't for you and Kishku and Maya... I don't think I would be here either. I don't think I would have wanted to be here..." She took Briella by the elbow and pulled her closer, her eyes angled away, her expression odd. "They've been my rocks, my tree, my support. You... You've been my light. I... Just..." she took a deep breath, closing her eyes as a tear escaped, falling unheeded down her face, taking some of the dust of the ruins with it. "I'm glad you're here. Very glad." She took another deep breath, smiling , "I... don't know why I told you... that... now, and I've not told anybody else so if you would not mention it to the others..." her smile grew more natural, more peaceful, "And... yes. Many more adventures to come." she said, with a note of vehemence.
Briella was surprised by Dyakida's sudden emotional outburst. "I'm glad you didn't die. I know what happened to you wasn't your choice, and I'm sorry if this sounds bad because I don't mean it that way, but I believe it has made you a more elevated you. To me it makes you above us, and I believe when you become an Elder everyone will see that." She wasn't sure if what she said was comforting, but it was how she felt and she meant it in the best way.
She hugged Dya to her chest tightly. A tear had almost escaped her eyes, and although Dyakida wouldn't see it she didn't want to let it fall. "You are my rock Dya, my pillar of strength when I feel like I have none left. And do not worry, you words are safe with me." She hugged her tightly before letting go.
"Adventures with you are the very best kind. We must have many more, after all they owe us a favor. It will be fun to call it in." She chuckled. "Now come on, the others will be waiting for us."
