On the count of three Tahira had drove into the water and began pulling herself forwards with her arms while adding to the momentum with powerful kicks from her legs. The talks had been nice but being in the water would always be more enjoyable for the young girl. Swimming was everything right in the world and the added spice of the challenge just made things all the more appealing to Tahira.
She surfaced and reached forward to touch shore just slightly behind her older kin. Upon hearing her question the hybrid girl shook her head, spraying droplets of river water everywhere in the process. "No, you won this time without the current holding you back," she admitted ad she hauled herself up onto land, sucking in deep lungfuls of warm air.
"Now we're tied, except I think this means the river won since neither of us beat the other while fighting the hardest bit of the current." A stronger swimmer would have beaten them both despite the disadvantage. Tahira was determined to become that sort of swimmer, so that there were never excuses for her to lose again.

She had won? That was a surprise. A pleasant one as she enjoyed the air and the lingering rush of the race.
"Then let us say the river won" Dyakida laughed, "And vow to win against it some other day!" she reached out towards where Tahira's voice had come from, palms up.
"And this is where we part paths to return to our homes..." She didn't regret the leaving, she did have to go home. "... but hopefully our paths will cross again, Tahira. Perhaps we- me or my sisters- will pay you a visit soon." That part was completely and honestly true: It would be nice. Dyakida looked forward to meeting the mother of such an energetic young sister. And, of course, the food. And perhaps further rematches. And, even, the crafting of a weapon for this halfblooded kin. An energetic soul such as this... perhaps a bow? Or a spear. Spears were a safe guess, always. Not the sword or swords for her, though, Dyakida thought.
"But for now..."

Tahira pressed her own small hands against Dyakida's. "For now may Aisha guide us both safely home." This had been a nice meeting and if she had anything to do about it she would meet up with her blind kin again. They had a history now and a rivalry, such things were meant to continue on until they were both old and wrinkled.
