Something clanky seemed to be patrolling the edges of the camp. No, make that several somethings clanky. A hunched figure shuffled after them, cooing encouragement and occasionally stopping them, making adjustments with a wrench. Moira and a handful of her Trashbots made it in here, too...
Approach Moira:
"Oh, spookie! Don't worry, we've got everything under control - just gotta fix it-" She seems as irrepressibly cheerful as ever, but there's an anxious edge to her speech, as if she's forcing it a little.
Ask Moira what happened:
"Oh, well... we all came to save you, spookie." She beams, but there's something weird about her smile. You get the feeling she's just making the best of a bad situation....
Poke a Trashbot:
It clanks and shoves you away - not enough to hurt, but enough to make you fall over on your behind. Evidently they have a job to do, and that job doesn't involve making happy friends.
Poke a Headcrab:
The unlucky headcrab glares at you sullenly. "Be nice, spookie," Moira says absently.

Hey, that one looked at her! Though it didn't seem possible, Canon perked up even more and scampered in the direction of the grey-haired officious looking person. Tactical energy nuke inbound.
"Greetings! I'm Canon Indy!" she said brightly, pivoted on one heel, and swung her tail towards his chest. This stinger froze within an inch of hitting him. He wasn't so lucky about the wave of words that followed.
"Well met! Do you know where we are? I mean besides camp. You know, the Horsemen have a pretty nice camp, too. A lot more fire, and priestesses, and shiny vials though. I mean the fog. It's fascinating! There was a... person out there. I think he or she was made of fog, but I'm not sure. They wouldn't let me move, so I couldn't check. Oh, I found some pumpkin pills on the ground, and I'm wondering if it's okay for me to keep them? The fog person seemed to think I stole something from them, so I thought the pumpkin pills were theirs, but when they finally let me go, I still had the pills. So, now I'm thinking he or she thinks I took something else. Is it possible to steal something without realizing it? I'm not sure how I got here. Here as in the whole foggy place, not here-the-camp. I found that by following the light. Maybe something made me forget how I got here, and I stole something before that point. Anyway, this is all very interesting, don't you think?"

Malcolm didn't even flinch, his expression staying a consistent poker face, although his hand was this close to grabbing the tail in order to yank it back.
"We are inside the Haunted House, although there is something off about it. I advise you to stay within the camp, or at least don't wander too far," He replied, looking at the student who was talking a mile a minute; he had no idea what she was talking about, although it seemed like the fog was showing the wandering students some illusions... He listened to the rest of the questions silently, and then gave his answers in order - from the first question asked, to the very last one, "Yes. Maybe. No."
He really did not find this interesting at all. He found it to be troublesome.

The last question had been more of a rhetorical question from Canon. She tilted her head to the side and regarded the Professor thoughtfully for a moment, blessedly silent now that she'd let of some question steam. He hadn't greeted her back when she swung her tail at him. But he hadn't flinched either, so Canon figured he was strong, but he preferred the verbal form of greeting. She was a bit disappointed. She was hoping he'd give her at least a hint of his capabilities. However, he was a Professor from Amityville, right? Home of the Purple One! Of course he had to be strong!
That settled for the moment, Canon made a quick mental note to research further into the swubject of involuntary theft.
One thing she was absolutely sure of, though, was that there was no way she was sticking close to camp. Just the little bit of information he'd given her had her positively itching to run back out into the fog to see for herself was this Haunted House was about, and how it was off.
"Is it usually this foggy?" she finally asked, swaying back and forth on the balls of her feet.

"No," Malcolm replied, briefly glancing at the fog, "Usually, there is no fog at all. That is what's off about it... However, we do not know more at the moment. That's why it's not advisable for students to run off into the fog."
Not that most of them would listen.

[Entering]
The boogeyman disappeared as Yin began to walk toward the tent, eyes darting from side to side to take in all of the activity. Patrolling, pumpkins being grown...someone approaching. He still did not fully trust them, not recognizing the individuals, his brain making a very strong case for how they could potentially be hunters in disguise and this was yet another trap he was walking into. But the boogeyman mentioned professors, and Yin (perhaps foolishly) found himself going farther in.
Thankfully familiar faces began to emerge. Yin managed to locate and obtain pumpkin pills, something that he was familiar with even if he normally did not have them to utilize. These he carefully slipped into his waist band before starting toward the exit again. He was useless and in the way in here, and who knew when the fog might overwhelm him again.
Then he saw her. Oh Great Mantis what if she knew what he had done? What if she found out or someone had told her? His shoulders hunched and he ducked his head down, fully intent on leaving the base and just...hiding his shame. But he could not help another look toward her and then...did she look anxious? If something was bothering her how could he just walk away from that?
The simple answer was that he could not do such a thing. Still looking entirely too defensive he crept over toward her. "N-Nurse Cricket? Is...is everything okay?"
It was a very touching family reunion.

Cricket didn't like spending a lot of time being visibly unnerved, to be honest, so when she noticed a familiar green scarf making a sort of discreet round between the things the base offered, she watched, folding her arms and sighing a bit.
Relief.
But she didn't rush his eventual travel towards her, even if she took note of how uncomfortable he looked as he did so. Fussing began almost immediately as the nurse carefully straightened his scarf out and smoothed down the creases in his clothing. "I was simply worried." she answered, a new calmness in her voice.

Yin was not accustomed to being fussed over, not in the slightest. The simple actions of just having his clothing straightened had his ears burning a nice cheery red that contrasted the "all green all the time" family.
But had made her worry, probably him, and that was nigh on unforgivable. He felt awful about it, and eyes cast downward her answered her somewhat glumly. "I hope I had nothing to do with that. If anything it was the people I was around that needed to be worried over." Not that he had done inexcusable things since he had last seen his mother or anything like that. She was going to be so disappointed when he found out. But first...she was not the only one that could be worried. "Is this a safe place for you?" There was a barrier to be sure, and boogeymen and other professors, but none of them were family. Seeing his mother practically out in the field...well, he could worry too.

"I haven't seen you in a while, Yin. Naturally I'm going to worry over you. I'd be more concerned if I didn't." Cricket replied calmly, smoothing his hair down and continuing her maternal fussing over him. He'd have to become accustomed to it eventually - then again, Cricket fell into the pattern so naturally it might have been concerning over people.
Though it was a part of her that she'd found neglected in the last year - missing her fighter to fuss over. Strangely enough her now 'child' fit into that little niche of need on her end very nicely.
"I'm fine, Yin. The Boogeymen keep things up and we have other staff here. We'll keep this place up and running well enough to keep all of you guys going. Can't have a repeat of last year after all."

"I must apologize, I was...unable to come see you." Not that he would have wanted to see her in that state. If he had killed his own mother...no, he could not even think about that.
Still, it was oddly nice to be fussed over, a mixture of pleasure and awkward stress. But as nice as it was, the fog still pervaded outside the base. It was dangerous, and someone had to be out there in it. Risking...everything really. The professors were there to help them all, Boogeymen protecting, professors healing, guiding. He had to help keep this a safe place for his mother. Simply hiding away to try to avoid going Insane again was not an option, not with the stories he had heard about the year before, and there were students that were not as experienced with fighting as he was. Someone had to be out there to help them.
"I will do my best out there," he said, taking a moment to let his eyes flicker up toward her face, trying to meet her eyes before giving her a small bow. "I sincerely hope that you stay safe."

Cricket gave Yin a small smile, ruffling his hair right back up again before leaning in to give him a kiss on the forehead - must have been all that new maternal instinct she had kicking in or something. "I'm more worried about you staying safe, Yin. Take care of everybody and come back in one piece, alright?" it wasn't the easiest of requests to follow up on, but she was going to be good and at least make it.
She'd have been alright with putting two pieces back together...maybe.
With that in mind, however, she took a moment to pull one of her glowing centipedes out of her arm and carefully tucked it into the scarf as well. It seemed pretty content to just chill there.

For a moment Yin just froze, her words sinking in slowly as he tried to mentally accept that he had just received a kiss on the forehead. Yes, he had been kissed before, but rarely, and this was different and he actually liked this feeling but he was not sure how to react (was he supposed to return the gesture? Thank her? Be appalled?) and he just stood there for a long, long moment.
It was not until she had finished tucking the centipede into his scarf that his brain really began catching up though. He was now a rather nice shade of scarlet and he opened his mouth to talk...but nothing came out. There was a moment of him just standing there, not quite gaping, before he managed to clear his throat.
Apparently his new instincts were whatever a babbling idiot had.
"Oh yes of course, whatever you would like I will do of course. No need to worry about me. I will come back and keep everyone safe. Yes." He had to fight to keep from physically clamping a hand over his mouth to keep from talking. "Er, I mean...I shall do my best." With that he turned and all but fled from the confusing and extremely happy feelings that he was experiencing, practically tripping over his own feet in the process.
But he was determined now as he headed back into the mist. Inspired. He was going to be the very best. Like Red no one ever was.

The mysterious fog. Canon looked around the grey haired Professor to the swirling white-grayness and again felt the tug of adventure. She knew where the camp was. She was somewhat certain she could find her way back her again if she needed to. Why stay here, though, when all the interesting things were happening out there? Clearly, there was some research that needed to be done on this fog.
And it wasn't like he'd outright forbidden her to go. He only said it wasn't advisable.
Canon gave him her biggest smile.
"Thanks!"
She didn't leave immediately, she took the time to grab an extra two pumpkin pills, poke the robots, and stare at the pumpkins the Bogeymen were trying to grow.
Then she simply ran back out into the fog.

Rengath stared at Cricket and her exchange with Yin.
"......................." He looked at the bag of chips he was eating, and setting them down, sat in a chair, slightly dazed at what he'd just witnessed.
Cricket being nice to a student.
"..........................We sure this tent is secure? That no one is suffering some kind of... mental alterations?" A look at the school nurse. "..............................................." The look of, 'what in Jack's name was that all about' was very clear on his face. He'd never seen cricket THAT nice.
