Bella was uneasy through the night tossing and turning about. She was still adjusting to the "expecting mother" feelings she experienced. She cracked her eyes every so often. Whenever the cold night air kicked up it chilled her exposed side. Bella tried to snuggle further into Daja's fur, but pinched part of herself in the settling. In a tired voice she groggily said, "Sorry..."

Lillium stared daggers at the little pest. Her mind slurring a million insults a second at his little burst of energy. Oh, NOW he gets his butt in gear..., she thought in utter disgust. Why with her was he such an obnoxious little bugger? She supposed it was the fact that she didn't let him get away with anything. Why should he get off with being a butt? Well, she was going to not give him any room for error. She believed Daja was too easy on him, well, she wasn't going to. Not one iota.

She slowed her walk as he so gentlemanly waited. It irked her. Well, if he was going to be such a pain she was going to make it exasperatingly difficult for him. She shoved her butt-puff in the air and turned her chin skyward. With a loud, "Hmph!" she walked around him.

"If you're not going to help me then just go back," she sneered over her shoulder.

Daja didn't seem to mind, hushing her quietly with little licks to help her settle. He was fine with staying up, especially to watch over Bella with care. This woman was important to him, and he certainly wasn't going to let her down. To help with the cold, he folded his wing over her as best he could, hoping to shelter her from the bitter winds a little better.

Meanwhile, Pesha was quite enjoying taunting the female. "Aww hurry up! Slow poookeeee." He crooned, finally jumping around as she caught up. "I'll help! Stop being a prissy pants and I'll help!"

Bella sighed and smiled. She tucked his wing underneath her front paws and purred contently.

Lillium twitched at his incessant taunting. Oh, it got on her nerves. "I'll wait until you want to be serious about this," she spat. "My former is in need of shelter. I would prefer it if you would be so kind as to realize that, you pain in the rear." Yep, masking her disapproval wasn't going to be sugar coated anymore. Lillium wanted to be of use to Bella and Daja, but Pesha; total waste of space. She ignored the dumb expression on his face. Looking out in front of her the tree line was just out their reach. Perhaps, she could lose the little fuzzball in the foliage. She sighed, if only.

"Sleep darling...I will be fine..." He hushed to her, nuzzling her neck. Daja was certainly more protective than he'd ever imagine himself being. This female...This Bella of his...She was just something indescribable. He had never seen himself being tied down, but now...Now he could. Just with her.

Pesha had other ideas, heading off the other way. It was easier without the dreadful girl. He would find the place! He would win the respect of Daja and Bella both! And then Lillium would be crying because she got nothing! He was already far out of sight by the time Lillium realized he was gone.

Bella eased at his words. She prayed that Lillium hadn't killed Pesha yet. Hoping they could at least set aside their differences. But knowing how stubborn they both were she heaved a sigh.

Her dreams were a menagerie of complicated swirls. Other visions were in the likeness of Salvador Dali's The Persistence of Memory. Again she tossed and turned from the nausea it created.

Lillium wondered why it had suddenly got very quiet. She looked behind and the little fur ball was gone. It took her a moment but considered it. Well, that only lasted about five seconds. Trees meant shelter. Shelter meant win. Lillium decided a cozy den was worth more than that little pain in the butt. So, she continued on.

Once inside the brush, the broken light of the stars shone through the canopy. Shadows looked more ominous; drawing in and bending in unnatural shapes. Eventually she began to think they were watching her, or something unknown. Lillium kept one thought in mind; Bella. She pressed on. Large roots breached the soil tripping her up but made her slow her pace.

She found several little cut-in dens, but none were big enough. Perhaps she should look for a cave instead. Lillium frowned in disgust.

Daja tried to settle her as she tossed, worrying about her. She had gotten worse lately, especially as her due date got closer and closer. He decided perhaps grooming her would calm her, and started, being as gentle as possible as to not wake her. Those two needed to work hard. He wasn't going to stand this much longer.

Pesha, however, had slightly better luck, coming across what might have been a storehouse, built into the side of a hill. It was open, abandoned, though contained a few small spiders, which were no match for the fierce and mighty familiar of Daja! Lillium would be scolded for not helping, which made him even more gleeful.

Of course, cleaning up a long abandoned storehouse was taking a long time......Especially on his own. Making a mental note of its location, he bounded off to find the snooty female. Maybe she could make herself useful....for once.

Bella eased into a dreamless sleep. She quietly slumbered warm and cosily next to him. She hoped the warm and fuzzy feeling she felt would leave and she could get back to her old self afterward. The babies would grow up and move away. But all that was speculation for now. Daja and her would alternate watching until they were old enough to be adopted out. She hoped that Lillium would let Pesha help, but that was as rare a chance as a blue moon.

Lillium was feeling like she was going in circles. One tree seemingly like another. Finally, a break in the canopy, but the stars, she didn't recognize. Quietly, she panicked. Okay, Lili, don't panic! What if that good for nothing saw you? Oh, what fun he'd find! Argh! she thought in disgust. She got herself together and with a determined grunt she sunk her claws into the nearest tree trunk and began to climb.

Leaping from tree to tree, it was much more convenient than stumbling about dumbly on the ground. A little more light and not so damp. It was a win-win; how could she lose?

Suddenly, she came across a clearing and tumbled onto the ground in a rolling heap. Lillium shook her head trying to stop the world from spinning. When she got her bearings, she noticed the old storehouse.

The rotted out floorboards creaked as she inspected the place. It was a large open space, the walls made of cobbled stone. She found a support beam and wanted to get a better look of the layout. In the back of the room, were old storing gunny sacks. A couple of those would make nice forging packs to gather food for the kiddies.

Now for warmth. She sat on the rafter befuddled. What was she going to do?

Daja continued to groom her, hoping that maybe Pesha would show Lillium up. He liked Lillium....Sometimes. He didn't like her harassing Pesha at every waking moment, but she was, he admitted, helpful. Just somewhere warm and safe, that's all he wanted.

Pesha, however, went into the underbrush, missing Lillium by minutes. He looked for her, keeping quiet for several minutes before finally starting to call for her. Had something happened?

As every minute passed, he got a little more frantic, finally taking to looking in the few small caves in the area. He didn't like her not being around. Yes, she was a pain in the a**, but...But he didn't want her to be in trouble! He tried to climb a few trees, but failed miserably. That wasn't his talent, and he landed on his butt more times than he could count.

He didn't give up though, not even once considering that she could be back at the storehouse. "Come on Lillium! It's not funny! Just come out....Come out.....Please...? I'm sorry okay? I'm not a lazy bum, I found a place!" he cried, sitting in the middle of the forest. "I'm sorry...."

Bella slept the remainder of the night silently and groggily shook her head awake. "Have they come back?" she asked brokenly.

Lillium laid and listened to the crickets and hadn't realized the sun was breaching the horizon. She sighed. Guess it's time to go find the little butt... she thought to herself. She stretched. Perhaps, fresh light well shed some... light on the subject. She snickered in her own bemusement. Slowly she made her way down from the supports and sat in the ajar door. Fresh dew lay on the sparse grass blades. Where could he be...? She had to admit is was it was kind of obvious; this storehouse. How could one overlook it?

Lillium shoved a fallen branch up against the door in hopes no one would be able to enter it. She figured she'd find a way to open after Pesha showed up. Looking toward the foreboding forest once again. She drew an "X" on each tree exposing the fleshy under skin. Her claws, best in the land for climbing.

Now; to find that pesky Pesha. Oh, she was on a roll that morning! Limb from limb, to and fro, until she heard the tired squeals of a far off cry. Great, he got himself stuck... probably in a fallen tree trunk, she sighed.

The closer she got the audible sounds became words. He was sorry? Lillium hopped down behind him, "There you are..." she muttered.

"Not yet..." Daja sighed, cuddling her more. He was a little worried. Time was running short, and still no word....

Pesha cried and cried until finally Lillium showed up. The amount of joy on his face was beyond anything. He pounced upon her, nuzzling into her fur as he cried about missing her. He hadn't stopped yet.....

Bella shifted uncomfortably, "I see..." she sighed. She looked up through the branches to the star-blanketed sky.

Lillium tried to pry the inconsolable Pesha off; to no avail. Great, there will be no living with him after this..., she thought distressed. "Get a grip," she said finally. "Where have you been?" she demanded. "Get it together, Pesha!"

She was deterred mostly by the fact her fur was going to have unsanitary unmentionables on it. It wasn't the fact that she was vain, but it was the fact, the kid made her skin crawl and here he was glued to her side bawling. She sighed, "Look, I found a place, but I need your help cleaning it up before we go get them. Now FOCUS!" SLAP! Lillium smacked her paw across his face. She didn't like that he was more a girl than she was. Sensitive, she could handle, but juvenile? That's where she drew the line.

"They're worrying me plenty too. I'm half convinced only Lillium will come back, with her paws covered in blood." Daja muttered, watching the sky himself. Just in case....

Wham. Pesha was smacked off of her, and was in absolute shock. Why. Why would she do that. He didn't really bother to say anything else after that, just sitting there and looking down at the ground. Without even asking where it was, he thought that perhaps he knew....And sulked off back to the storehouse, trying to clean it all by himself. He didn't need her help. He could do this by himself, right? Right?

Bella snickered, "I wondered that myself." She eased herself quietly closer to his side. Her eyes shut as sleep once again came to take her. She hoped once the the kits were born she'd get her energy back. She wanted her nights back, this irregular sleep patterns was starting to get to her.

Lillium just stared after him. What... just happened...? she thought to herself. So, setting off behind him to see where his twerpy butt was going. Soon enough she realized. That little butt knew where this was...?

Had she finally smacked the dumb out of him? Well, less noise she figured was for the best. At least he stopped crying. Although, it apparently stunned him from the sudden slap.

She couldn't understand what was wrong with him. Well, she was going to at least get some help unpinning the door. That giant pine branch was quite the issue putting it as a stopper. The trick was getting it unstuck. Ha! Hindsight, you are such the proverbial b***h. Oh, why not.
"Hey! Hold up there, Pesha," she called out to the flaming ball of fur.

Pesha didn't even bother replying to her, already hard at work getting that branch out of the way. He tugged at it again and again, and got it to budge by perhaps a few centimeters, nothing much. He didn't give up though, trying again and again with what little strength he had to get it out of the way. Soon, gravity took over, and he barely sidestepped as it topped over. After which, not bothering to rest, he got to work dragging it out of the way.

He wasn't going to be talking for a while, it seemed, if at all for the rest of the day, and if he did, it certainly wouldn't be where anyone could hear him. The branch was digging a trail in the ground as he budged it, and within a few minutes it was well out of the way.

After which, of course, he got to go in and start cleaning it up.....

Lillium stood aghast. So he had gumption. Yep, definitely no living with him afterward. She sighed, if he was going to give her the silent treatment, she might as well get started on those old gunnysacks. Perhaps, they were still filled of their contents.

With a final glance at him, she made her way over to them. She tugged on one, trying to cut loose the bag. Lillium finally opened it, but nothing. Another and another; still the same. She tossed the loose ones aside.

Just shreds now, out of pure frustration. She huffed, staring down the remainder and glancing toward the growing pile. Stomping over to the shredded pile she began to tie the loose strands together.

Before long, she had lost track of time only coming to realize she had created a large blanket of burlap. Coarse, yes, but it was warm. Looking over the rest of the shreds, she contemplated making a set of smaller ones.

Lillium looked over the remaining whole sacks. Then a light bulb sparked. She started to gnaw open one of the side seams, then would see to the bottom.
