"Noble deeds and caring for others is not the same as following orders and being a team player." Mercy pointed out, turning to address the pair, not at all phased by the Silver's anger, nor even of him speaking her directly..it wouldn't be the first time an angry young dragon had done so. "I told you to put the straps on, no one mentioned jumping on and going for a joy ride through the Weyr at breakneck speed." She stated calmly. Of course by this time the pair was walking off and Mercy sighed - it was really just another example of how they let their emotions rule their decisions and she feared that someday..it would doom them.
Steeling herself no matter how much she disliked the thought of being seen as the bad guy she had Aerith relay the rest of her message, before turning back to Dizzian. "I'm sorry, it's for her own good..even if she hates me for it...I only want to ensure as many people survive threadfall as I can."
'Mine has no doubt that your's is a caring and well intentioned person, she merely desires to see something other then emotion rule both of your actions. Threadfall is an emotional time and one must learn to think through emotion and curb impulses before flying alongside others.' Aerith shared with the Silver, although the little while was irritated with the way the younger dragon had spoken to it's rider it's voice was none the less calm.
Mercy meanwhile had turned herself back to the present and was examining the area's Dizzan said were rubbing. "I've seen dragonriders with scored dragons create pads of soft wool that can be tied onto the straps and those seem to word well enough, I think she's just growing still..in a few more weeks they probably won't rub quite as much, but the pads will help in the meantime and they certainly won't hurt anything. Do you know someone who can make something like that? I'm afraid I don't know the crafters here yet, but I can ask around if you need me to."

Courath sighed as she watched Devith storm off. He did mean well and he had his points. Mercy and Aerith did as well. Devith was a passionate creature and she was right. He would have to learn to master his emotions. She had no doubt that when the time came though Devith would prove himself admirably. Their hardest lesson would be to take direction willingly and without questioning it's source.
She let them go without another comment. They needed some time to sort themselves out. She could go talk to Devith later.
Dizzian nodded. She knew... but it still shook her to think of Hekate and Devith not being able to fly... that Devith would even threaten to spend his life on the ground just because of what happened today. There was a small tingle of ire welling up within her as well. "No... I know. But couldn't you have punished them another way?" She looked up at Mercy with pleading eyes as the hesitant words flowed out of her. "I mean.. If you're worried about her working with others you could have set her a group task or something... She really is a good person." Dizzian dropped her eyes as her face flushed with embarassment. She never talked back to her superiors. She quickly changed the topic by answering Mercy's question. "I think I could make them. I'm only an apprentice weaver but if it's just a padding of wool then that shouldn't be hard."

Mercy sighed and gave the other girl a soft smile. "She would have gone off, trudged through her punishment and not learned a darn thing. I'm still not entirely convinced that she got my point - I know that she's your friend and I also know that she's got a good heart or she wouldn't be so stalwart about protecting you...but it's my job to make sure that everyone is ready to fly in a wing, to follow orders in an instant without question, to stay in formation even when things go wrong and never ever to let emotion's rule their decisions. It's a hard lesson..harder for some then others but it keeps you alive and in the end that's all I care about. No Aerith and I know what an impact having to wait while others fly can have...we weren't allowed to fly for a good while after our hatch-mates did. Aerith was feared to small. It was painful and it will be painful for your friend if she doesn't come up with a way to prove to me that she's ready...but she'll remember it and maybe she'll think twice next time."
Stroking the green's neck while she stood there Mercy offered Dizzian a reassuring smile "But I wouldn't worry to much, once she's cooled off a bit I'm sure she'll come up with a way to prove herself, she doesn't seem like a slow person." She stated with a slight chuckle. "In any case, get working on those pads and we'll re-fit Courath here once your done. Keep up with those strengthening exercises too..it won't be long until your in the sky now."
