Dyakida raised an eyebrow, somehow managing to keep a straight face through his little panic attack.
"I... don't think so, no" Of course not! She would feel like an absolutely miserable failure if she had to stay the night in some shifter's house instead of finding her way back on her own! It would only make her sister's want to keep her close all the more, and then how would she feel?!
Not good, that was for sure.
"If you would guide me back to that clearing, then I could... oh?"
she frowned slightly, "Very well, I suppose since we are here I should at least feel what it is like..." she completely ignored his new panic attack about sight. As he continued in that vein, she took her hand off of his shoulder. "It is just ahead, correct?" she asked, judging the direction of 'ahead' from how he was angled... and walking that way, relying on her antennae to warn her of trees.
She grew uneasy as there were fewer and fewer trees and sparser and sparser canopy. the way the world around her felt, the way above her seemed to be opening... it felt strange.
The earth beneath her feet was also strange, growing pricklier and pricklier. The smells were different too, here on the edge.
She kept going forward, however... and suddenly she felt a sensation of SPACE above her, of sun rays striking her without obstacle, of hot dust and grass under her feet.
Her face crinkled into an expression, part dismay and part surprise.
"... there really is no canopy, then? In the Tale?"

"N-no, no canopy... Not that I can s-see..." He followed behind cautiously... and then the tree's parted, revealing something incredible. His breath caught as the slowly dying sun cast it's early evening light onto the plains, staining the crystalline grasses and scrawny trees a deep red, like blood and fire.
He felt exposed, without something above him. He felt slightly lost and rather afraid of Dyakida, direct threat or not.
But for the moment, Biroki's shy exterior was broken.
"It's... beautiful... The way the sun's fire flows over everything..."
He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling his magic inside of him and summoning up a small flame into his hand. It was draining to keep it burning this way without any fuel other than his magic, but... as he lifted it to sky, he felt... right. A oneness with the world.
"It flows over ever everything, gilding it, becoming one with Tendaji... and then leaves it to dusk's fall..." he was quiet for a moment, tasting the words, forming them. His eyes passed Dyakida again, and he was brought back to reality.
Oh! Oh no! It was late!
"Oh, uh, w-we should probably get back... soon... so you don't have to walk at n-night..."
The shy biroki was back... but distracted, still chasing words to describe what he felt looking on that sunset.
"I..." he hesitated, "I'll at least take you back.... to the clearing..."

Dyakida turned back towards Biroki at the change in his tone, her antennae twitching.
Was this the same shifter? Would she know if another came up behind them? She hoped she would have noticed!
"What do you mean?" Flowing over everything? Becoming one? Dusk's fall?
What the hell was he talking about?

Wait, was he talking about a sunset?! What an odd shifter!

She wiggled her toes in the sharp grasses.

"... Yes. Let us go then." she felt her way back to Biroki, taking his arm.

As he nervously led her back to the clearing, she let her mind wander slightly, as the sense of enclosement returned and calmed her nerves.

She had seen sunsets on Chibale before. She had never thought of it as fire flowing. Just... interesting. A thing to do with her sisters after a long session of tag in Aisha's branches.
She had no way of knowing if the sunsets were somehow different over Jahuar or in the Tale...

Come to think of it... He was a shifter... would his skin have changed color...? She felt his arm. It didn't feel any different...

"If you don't mind me asking, has your... ah... Skin changed?"

She smelled the burned wood of smoke, and felt a familiar burnt and crumbling landmark.

"I think I can find my way back from here." she said.
Not entirely, but perhaps she could find a sister to help her...? Either way, she was going home alone.

Biroki was nervous as he led her back to the clearing. He was quiet, awkwardly so, trying to be a good guide and keep her off the roots.

When she started feeling his arm, he stopped, flushing.
"Uhhh... Wh... what are you...?"
Oh. yes. His skin.
"Y-yes... it... it's white now... B... but you couldn't tellI'msorry!" he flinched apologetically.

"R... really? you... you think so?" he looked doubtfully at the darkening jungle around them, just starting to glow with the gilded sunset light and with it's own light.
"O... Okay... B'bye, Dyakida... It was a, uh, p-pleasure to meet you..." he smiled shyly.

"Oh."
Well the skin was at least interesting.
"... yes."
it hadn't entirely been a pleasure.
"Be well." it seemed appropriate.

And with that, Dyakida took her leave, carefully wandering into the dark forest, checking her direction several times.
She was certain she was going the right way... yes. there was a landmark.
And with thoughts only to feeling her way home, Dyakida left the shifter behind...

After anxiously watching to make sure she didn't bump into anything, Biroki decided to make his own way home. He frowned at a round object nearby. Was that... an egg? of some sort?
He put it away in his bag. He would look later.
Now though... he was tired himself, having been up all day.

For a moment, he wondered if she shouldn't go after her, make sure she would be okay.
But then decided against it... He didn't want to risk running into an Alkidike who wouldn't be so nice!
With a look at the clearing and a decision to return again, he clambered into the trees and set off for home.
