Jerry's voice dropped down conspiratorially, "I don't need women or alcohol to be happy. Sure, they made me feel good and built my confidence and stuff but you know what? <******** IT ALL!" He suddenly shouted at the churning grey sea ahead of them, before breaking into a fit of pleased giggles. His voice dropped down again, "What would Killzone Do, right? He'd find his ******** Killzone Place."
Something seemed to occur to him once again, and he gave a gasp, "Oh my god guys, you should howl with me. Let's do it oh my god-"

"That sounds like a pretty healthy revelation," Jordan said carefully, his eyebrows arching. "When did it come to you?"
"Er," he said in response to the suggestion, not at all sure he wanted to go along with this, but not sure how fragile Jerry's mood might be.

"I told him that ages ago but he wouldn't listen to me." Rep pouted to himself.
When Jerry suggested howling at first his expression dropped, giving him a you-really-aren't-serious stare. But then it lit up just a bit as he eyed Jordan. Maybe Jordan would actually do it, that would be pretty damn hilarious.

"This morning!" Jerry explained, "Candace came by and it all just clicked," He pulled the rose down from his ear again to give it a reverent sniff before tucking it back again, "Come on, let's howl no one will hear us here!" Without waiting for them to actually agree, Jerry stumbled forward toward the waves before letting loose a sudden, animalistic howl from deep within, quavering impressively over the sound of crashing waves.

Jordan's eyes were drawn to the rose. Was that the source of the sudden mood shift? "Did she give you that rose?" he guessed.
Jerry started howling. Jordan hesitated. Then, with a look at Rep that said laugh and you're in deep trouble, he sighed and somewhat reluctantly joined in.

Oh good god Jerry was howling. It was amazing. It was the most absurd and gloriously hilarious thing he had ever seen. His bad mood was gone as if it had never been skulking around in the first place. He couldn't keep the big stupid grin off his features. This was ******** mental, this whole island was ******** mental.
And then his day was absolutely made as Jordan joined in. He laughed, no ******** way could he not laugh, cracking up in a mad manic cackle before cupping his hands at his mouth and joining in in what was a pretty damn accurate wolf howl - the howl of a guy who had watched way too many nature documentaries in a permanent state of unemployment.
Then he laughed some more.

Them joining in only seemed to encourage the madman, and Jerry's howl was broken up by gleeful laughter. He ran forward until his feet hit water, screaming out again, "AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" again and again until his voice was hoarse and he turned to beam at his two friends, eyes glittering with tears, "Did you know Howlers have over a thousand different howls for different things?"

Jordan couldn't stay cranky about it for long, not when Jerry was gleefully putting his whole heart and soul into his howling and Rep was cracking up like an idiot, and not mockingly, either, just genuine, unrestrained laughter; Jordan had to laugh too. He ambled down to the edge of the water after Jerry.
"That so?" he asked, interested. "I guess that makes sense. Do they have a separate language?" It was really rather nice to see Jerry in a good mood, not down and depressive as he had been so often.

It took Rep a bit to compose himself, on a giddy sort of thrill just at the fact he'd actually just done that and it hadn't resulted in humiliation or awkwardness, just sheer hilarity. The grin was stuck, he was sure of it.
He cast his gaze down the beach then back to Jerry, it was one of those weird days, high or not, it was contagious. "What did that howl just mean then?"

Gasping to catch his breath, but still giggling himself, Jerry gained the glazed-over calculative look of one consulting with their weapon before his face went red and he laughed even harder. "Roar says that one said 'There's been someone else marking my bathroom spot.' ahahahahaha. Well excuse me, I don't have harmonics in my vocal chords like some creatures!"

Rep couldn't remember laughing this hard in a while, shaking his head in amused despair, still smiling as he rolled his eyes. Jerry.
"Aye man, you need to learn better howls than that. That's no gonnae cut it. Learn how to like, say you are going to bite their face."

Jerry wobbled, staring out at the ocean as his mouth moved softly, clearly confiding in his weapon once again, "I don't know if I can make-" His brows furrowed and he lifted his hands to his mouth, cupping his palms before letting out a noise. He cleared his throat, shaking his head before pressing a thumb into his own throat to contort the sound further. The noise that he produced started weak and unsure but as he hit the notes he was directed, it quickly evolved into eery, inhuman, and angry.
He lowered his hands, smiling softly out at the waves as he finished. "That's the sound a lone Howler makes. As close as I can anyway. When trying to find it's pack."
Roar was, frankly, impressed.

Jordan rocked back on his heels, eyebrows arching as the howl Jerry was voicing turned weird. "Whoa," he said when Jerry had gone quiet. "Cool."
