He made a hmm in agreement to her last statement, still thinking despite how heavy his eyes were.
"So, you were with your dad before you admitted yourself?" He asked, still pressing this sensitive issue. Allan would do the work for him to give her something else to be distracted with while she answered.
"You must have remembered her to treasure a sweater from her." He tried to imagine what Rin's mother would look like, but it was hard to imagine something like that. It usually ended up in a clique version of the person you were thinking of, Rin in this case, with the add on of a handkerchief tied about her hair and some 50s dress. It seemed wrong on the bastardization of what Rin's mother probably did look like, not to mention on Rin. A girl who could lift a guy and carry him to their dorm was not the Betty Homemaker type.

"Yeees..." she sounded a bit annoyed as she had a feeling the topic was coming right back to this and poor Allan got a much tighter squeeze for it, "Not really no. She died when I was really young. Can..." Rin heaved a soft sigh, "... can we just not talk about this right now? I donlt even ******** know what I'm missing, okay."

Melvin found the border, and smiled. "Sure." He turned his head to look at her, but spotted Allan being squeezed to death. "Allan!" He rose up quickly and instantly regretted it. The whole room was spinning, and he held it with one hand as he reached out for Melvin. "Your going to pop his poor head off!" He whined, trying to save his poor friend from her.

Rin immediately relaxed the squeeze as soon as Melvin called off the topic and even moreso at his shout. Her attention immediately drawn to the plush to make sure he was okay. He was, she quickly deduced.
"Sorry, I just... I dunno. Felt a little huggy... he's okay though..," she scooted closer to Melvin carefully offering him the alien, "See?"

Melvin took Allan into his protection, holding him close while inspecting him. It was clear that saying it was just a keepsake wasn't entirely true, as Melvin tenderly held it as he checked it's stitching. When he saw it wasn't damaged, he looked back to her. "He's fine." He told her.
He then set Allan down between them as if he was included in this conversation. "Maybe you should get one on leave." Girls could get away with having stuffed animals. Even grown women he'd seen kept at least a few in their rooms, usually on or around their beds.
Flopping back down, he just watched her as he looked up from his pillow.

"Maybe," Rin repeated before smiling a little down at him, "I doubt they make things like Allan anymore... not that he was factory made." She raised a brow at Melvin curiously, "He wasn't, was he?"

"No." He said, still resting as he reached over to pick Allan and set him beside his pillow. "My mother made it for me as a present. We joke that he is part T-Rex since she had to do a dinosaur pattern." T-Rex Xenomorph made him a bit more badass in his opinion. "Did you have any toys growing up that you liked?"

"Not really, no," She frowned a bit before turning to put her knees into the side of his bed as she reached for his covers and attempted to haul them up over him to his neck. "My childhood was boring, okay?" why was she smirking about that? "Now quit you. You've got like a gallon of sleepy juice to get through."

While she tucked him in, Melvin reached for Allan, indeed close to just mumbling words at this point. "You still turned out right." He commented, upbringing or not.
He then turned into his pillow and closed his eyes.

Rin reached to gently pat him on the head, "You and me both newbie, you and me both."
She finally got up and started to head off, vaguely remembering her own attempts at jenga. That was a nightmare. She shook her head, thankfully that nightmare is in the past where it belongs. For now, she distracted herself with the thought that patting him on the head felt like petting a baby bunny.
