Ana hopped back up onto Maverick's back as soon as he was done eating. she grabbed a hold of the reins, then held them loosely in her hands as she walked along side Nikolai. Ana's eyebrows raised upon hearing the statement made about Rain. Is that so? Well I must say it doesn't surprise me, she's quite strong. She replied in a content tone then smiled down at the grey mare. Looking back up at Nikolai she wondered..Were you in the war? She questioned him with casualty but dripping with curiosity.

"We were," he said, glancing at the princess with a sad smile. "And it was a rather trying experience for the both of us... I lost a lot of close friends and was even shot in the arm. I had a tattoo put over it in an attempt to hide the scar... It works for the most part." He smirked and rubbed his arm where the tattoo was hidden under layers of clothes. "I'm no longer enlisted, though. I was given an honorable discharge and now I spend my days traveling, hunting, and occasionally working in an office. Ana slowed Maverick down to a decent average trot to where it was easier to talk and travel all at the same time. Hearing his story being explained, she gave a half smile that was saddened. I'm sorry to hear that. But I'm glad you've managed to find something else that you like Nikolai. She said then smiled a bit. What kind of office do you work in? Profession wise. She asked curiously but managed to remain polite. If he didn't wish to speak about it that was fine, she just wanted to know. If he were to ask her what she did, she would have to think of an excuse as a cover up...

We deal with a little bit of everything from money to politics to medicine... I come from a small town so all of our businesses' 'headquarters' are located in one building." He smiled and glanced over at Anastasia. "And what do you do? I'm guessing you're either in fashion or the medical field in order to own a fur coat like that."

Ana smiled at her new traveling friend she had made. That doesn't seem too bad. With it all being located in one place, I guess it'd be easier to not have to go from place to place all over...?She smirked then bit her lip at his next question. Oh crap.. What am I going to tell him?Oh! Actually yes, I am in the medical field. I'm an assistant doctor, or nurse, to the head doctor in town. She said with a genuine smile. That should work... She said then looked ahead.

xxxxx"Yeah, it's pretty convenient," Nikolai agreed. "But sometimes it gets a little noisy and crowded... Thankfully, I'm out of the office more than sitting behind the desk." He smiled and held back a laugh when Anastasia stumbled over of fake occupation. She's probably silently thanking me for giving her that idea, he thought, amused. "Have you dealt with any interesting ailments?" He asked partially to continue their conversation but mostly because he wanted to see how creative the princess could be.

Ana agreed with a nod then smiled. Ya, I'd hate to have to sit at a desk all day. Which is why I'm grateful to move around a lot. She said then blinked. She smirked, it was like he knew she was lying but wanted to see what she would say.. I handle most basic things and a little. Like anything from infections to a broken bones. Not broken ribs as in ribs or such, that's for the actual doctors and surgeons. She asked then smiled with victory inside her head. This was going to be a fun trip..

xxxxxNikolai was impressed that the princess responded so smoothly, but anyone could have come up with a simple answer like that. They continued their small talk for some time, alternating between periods of silence and trivial conversations. When the forest began to grow dark, Nikolai turned to Anastasia and said, "We should probably think about setting up camp soon. Don't want to be traveling through dark." He looked around at all the trees, wondering if he would be able to catch a rabbit for dinner or if he would have to resort to eating something he had packed.

Ana was starting to get the hang of answering Nikolai's questions right off the bat. She had something to go off of, so with each passing question it became easier and easier. She still had the feeling he was quizzing her on if she'd be able to respond so well..Like he knew she really wasn't in the medical field so he was quizzing her. When she heard Nikolai's comment about it getting dark, she looked up and around through the tree and nodded her head. Sounds good. Where would you like to set up? She asked him, slowing Maverick down getting the idea that around that general area was fine.

xxxxx"We don't want to be right by the path," Nikolai explained, still looking out at the trees. However, this time he was trying to make out an area big enough for them and their horses. "But we shouldn't go too far into the trees that we can't find the path if we need it..." Nikolai brought Rain to a stop and dismounted. "Here looks good." He waited for Anastasia to get down as well before he led them through the trees and into a tiny clearing. He tied Rain's reins to a low branch then started digging through his pack for his tent. As he pulled them out, Nikolai glanced over at the princess and asked, "Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but you have supplies for camping out... right?"

Ana nodded her head. Right.. She said looking around before Nikolai declared that here was good. Just like she predicted. She dismounted off of Maverick and held his reins loosely in her hand. She clicked her tongue as Maverick walked slowly next to her following behind Nikolai and Rain through the woods off the trail. She tied maverick near rain on a nearby branch and pulled off her side bag, and the saddle bag. She looked at Nikolai and then a light bulb went off in her head. She closed her eyes and groaned. No... I wasn't planning on getting caught in a trap and then having a traveling friend coming along. I was planning on riding Maverick straight through the forest to the nearest town and staying there for the night. Then heading out again.. She said then looked down, a bit embarrassed.

xxxxxI should've known... Nikolai thought, setting down the tent supplies before removing everything from Rain's back. "You told me earlier that it takes a few days to travel through the forest," he reminded Anastasia, glancing over at her as he began to set up the tent. "So unless you planned on pushing Maverick to his limit, I doubt you would've made it to the next town for the night... You didn't plan this trip very well, did you?" He smiled at the princess, hoping she knew that he was only teasing her. "Anyways, you can sleep in the tent if you'd like. I doubt you want to share it with me, so I'll just set up my sleeping bag out here." He finished putting up the tent and even laid out a tarp as a floor. "Do you want to gather wood for a fire while I go see if I can catch us something for dinner?"

Ana did a gentle face palm and shook her head after dropping her hand back to her side. No, I didn't. I apologize for my stupidity.. I was in a bit of a hurry to get out of where I was.. She looked to him and saw him smiling, which instantly made the ends of her lips curve up into a half smile. She shook her head at his suggestion to sleep outside. Don't be ridiculous, it's your tent you sleep in it. Besides, It's supposed to be getting a lot colder outside so I wouldn't want you getting pneumonia or a cold. She nodded her head Of course. She said then adjusted her fur cloak and tied it closer around herself before walking out into the woods away from the clearing. As she walked, she gathered in her arms medium size sticks and a few small logs. Each time carrying some back in a small pile before going back out one last time. She saw a ideal looking log that didn't seem too heavy. She smiled to herself then bent down to pick it up. She tugged and tugged before her hands slipped and she fell on her rear. She frowned, and blew a stray strand of fire engine red hair out of her face before standing up. She went to pull the log again before she yelped. She quickly pulled her hand away from it to see a long gash/cut across her palm. She looked back down at the log and saw it held several large pointed parts sticking out. She hissed from the pain then pulled out a rag from inside her cloak and wrapped it around her hand. She managed to gather just a few more smaller logs before heading back and setting them with the rest of the pile.

xxxxxNikolai shook his head at Anastasia's objections "What kind of gentleman would I be if I made you sleep on the cold hard ground?" He looked at her seriously before continuing to search through his bag. "Please take the tent. I've slept outside in much worse conditions than this. After finding what he was looking for, Nikolai stood up and picked up his rifle. "I'll be back soon. If you need matches, there's a box in the outside pocket of my bag. He smiled and raised a hand in a quick wave before setting off into the woods. Using his exceptional hunting and tracking skills, he was able to sneak up on a small group of deer. If I get a small one, I can cook all of the meat and just store what we don't eat tonight. It should last us a few days... I just hope I remembered to bring something to store meat... Nikolai shook his head and cleared his mind of all thoughts as he readied his gun and took aim. Not long after that he was hoisting the doe over his shoulders and carrying it back to camp.

Ana sighed to herself once she reached camp. She heard the sound of a rifle go off once, causing her to jump where she stood. She relaxed, remembering it was just Nikolai hunting. A smile crossed her lips, there was a high chance he probably hit something. As if on cue, her stomach growled as she went to go start a fire. She grabbed leaves, and small sticks as a starter and came back towards the tepee styled campfire. Positioning them right below the top of the Logs where they all met in the center, she searched for Nikolai's bag where he said the matches were. It only took her a few seconds and in the next five, she found the matches in the outside pocket where he said and pulled the small box out. Taking a match out, she struck it against the side, where pressure was being pressed against her hand and winced. She shook it off and lowered it to the small pile of twigs and leaves, watching the flames slowly consume them. And soon enough, the logs caught on fire themselves. Ana sat back and warmed her hands near the flames, glancing up at Maverick.
