At the guitar quips Jerry pouted, looking deflated as he pulled up a chair. He didn't particularly want to sit next to Melvin. The guy was disrespectful and big for his britches. But some socialization would be good for the Sun. "You guys are no fun. I thought you liked my music," He finally registered those stuck in the beds. "Oh jeeze- what happened to you two? Oh," He gave a nervous smile to Lex before offering his hand, "Jerry Collins, Sun Division, full Hunter. New trainees are popping up like roaches huh? Ahahaha." He nudged Jordan playfully.
See? Things were okay. Just had to get his mind off of his troubles. There would always be troubles. Just keep your mind off of them. His attentions then went back to Otto with a look of serious concern, "You can still drum, right??"

"Not sure I'd say roaches," Jordan replied, quirking a smile. "I mean, the group nicknames haven't been terribly flattering, but that might be going a little far."
Ro was definitely ignoring him. He sighed very quietly and resigned himself to it. He probably kind of deserved it, anyway.
He picked up several coins. "American change," he said, directing the information mostly at Rep, but there might be some others here who hadn't originated from the United States either. "Penny, nickel, dime." He tossed a penny in Robert's general direction. "Reflex check."

Lex gave Jordan a polite smile and chuckle, shaking his head. "Tell me about it; I've already got one of the Life techs to think I'm the biggest idiot in the division." He meant Ami, of course. One tour, and he had basically messed up any chance of being her friend.
To Melvin Lex gave a nod. "I'll probably see you around the labs sometime, then. I've been studying runes, mostly. I should probably check in for minipet duties at some point, though."
"Yeah...I haven't been introduced to many people, really." He told Leon, with some mirth in his voice. "I guess I'm just going to have to do that on my own." He took a look at the snacks table. "Who's Clarice?"
Jerry got a nod of acknowledgement as well, and a little smile "Eh, I've been called worse."

"All Life techs think you are an idiot. Doesn't matter what you do." Melvin said to Lex, not particularly happy with that fact, but knowing that none of the techs there gave a damn about him and thought of him more as a intern or secretary than anyone that had some actual worth. "Seems you have to punch in here for a year before they think otherwise." He wasn't rather found of the other techs, and had kept more to doing the minor tasks he was assigned, like watching the two patients here, or working on his own project with the minipets he had.
Jerry's comment about being roaches made Melvin cringe. "I'm no roach. Not the best analogy." He didn't like to be associated with a dirty bug, or any bug for that matter. Just the idea of a roach made him adjust himself in his seat, and glance to the ground out of habit.
Robert had the spirit Melvin liked to see in a poker game, and he smiled at him. "I wouldn't get too cocky, Robert. This isn't my first day playing." Then he noticed Jordan showing Rep what change was what. "By the way, I hope you do all know how to play. If not, sit by me and I'll explain as we go." He didn't want someone faking it and struggling through the entire night. It wasn't fun for anyone.
In the end, he started to divide the cards up between everyone, wanting to get started. "Hey Rep. I have my guesses, but where are you from?" He glanced to everyone around. "Where is everyone here from?" Conversation starters were good, and with a new guy present, it was a nice way to use him to get more information. Quote: There will be one talking rp round. The next round will be my post and a signal to roll 1d20 (I will tell everyone in my post to roll to keep it simple). Whoever has the highest roll will the be the one who wins that round. If there is a tie, roll 1d20 again to see who wins the tie.

Otto's icy gaze flicked to Jerry as he addressed him, huffing lightly. "My drum set is still trashed. Dakota said he'd buy me another one once we get leave again." He replied, adjusting his sore shoulder. "I'll be fine to play."
For the most part Otto only sort of registered those around him. He tended not to like crowds, and the fact he was stuck in bed didn't help. He was trapped, as it were. The anti social teenager could do nothing but let himself be included. This was dumb. Poker is dumb. Why so dumb.
He dragged his change and cards closer, staring down at them rather than anyone else. "Louisiana." Otto mumbled to Melivn.

Ro's eyes flickered up to Jerry's a grim look on his face and one that pretty much spelled out pure disgust and loathing before flickering to Rep followed by a jerk of the thumb, "That" he said with just a very blunt hint of venom, "Is what happened."
Sorting out his coins he started to prepare opening bets before looking to Melvin, "Florida born, moved around a lot and ended up in Massachusetts." That at least placed some of varied accent and just the slightest hint of the Boston clip that sometimes slipped into his voice. It seemed as of late the Boston clip was coming out along with his short attitude towards others.

Rep gave a very jaunty wave and a smile to Jerry as Ro gestured over at him with his thumb. The mist hunter's dismal mood really entertained him for whatever reason and he was enjoying simply existing without outright baiting. That. Well he could live with being designated as an animal or an object.
He was grateful to Jordan for clarifying which change was which, neatly sorting out his change into little piles of each with a look of actute concentration. Only Melvin's question made him look up. "Oh ehh. Glasgow. Erm. Scotland." Even if every day the old life seemed further and further away, the first instinct had almost been to reply "the island"
Lex got an impressed look though for being from Vegas. It had become one of his favourite places in the world since he got to the island thanks to the times he'd gone there. He imagined living there would be pretty ******** sweet.

"California," Jordan offered, "central coast area, born and raised." He sorted his hand thoughtfully, then laid it face down on the table and made neat stacks of his coins.

There was no real way to say what Leon thought about Clarice without putting it bluntly. the hunter gave the newer recruit an even stare that demanded his full attention. "Clarice is the devil incarnate, and Doctor H is Satan, our lord and master." ok maybe it was embellishing, but he felt it summed up the duo nicely. and then jabbed a thumb at his chest. "Leon, Chicago, Illinois" he boasted proudly, puffing his chest out.
Home was still home after all, even if he wasn't there. But with the flick of cards in his direction and tiny chips to play with, he sat more upright, with the cards in his hand and still munching on his first sun chip from the bag. he was ready to play. "hope you all are ready to lose."
let the manly smack talking begin.

"Philadelphia," Jerry supplied quietly, his usual sparkle fairly dimmed as he shifted at the table. He debated excusing himself. He hadn't had much experience with Poker, but knew how to play well enough. He used to play cards all the time with his grandparents.
Pokerface.
He had nothing but a short, slightly manic burst of laughter on the subject of H, which he bottled quickly.
While everyone was looking over their cards or counting their pennies, Jerry shifted to turn, pretending to be situating himself in his chair as he popped the top on his flask again and took another quick sip before tucking it away.
These days, battlefields he could do. Groups of judgmental men he could not. Especially with the rumors that had been flying around left and right. He had read on twitter later about the "betting fridge" in the Life department. He didn't want to know what it looked like, or if anyone had made any connections between it and him.
"Sorry Rep, you're the only non-yank. Ahahaha." He forced the smile back on his face once his throat had recovered from his subtle swig.

Melvin made a few mental notes, looking through his cards, tossing a few in the pile to pick up some replacements as they took turns, and reached over to pick up a bag of jalepno chips and opening it as he left his cards, face down, on his lap.
"Seems they recruit from all over." He set the bag down a moment. "I'm from Rhode Island." He then picked up his cards again.
"I fold." He said, setting his cards down. His hand wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Taking the bag, he ate a few chips as he waited. Quote: Everyone roll 1d20. Highest roll wins. This is the time to bet high or fold.

"I always kinda wondered about that.." Otto murmured, uncertain if he wanted to be conversing his thoughts at all. "Is it just lucky everyone here speaks English? Or is that on purpose while recruitin'?"
The southern boy picked up another card and furrowed his brows at the hand he was dealt.

Jerry shuffled through his cards, clearing his throat, brows furrowing as he shuffled nervously through each, taking stock. What were good combinations again? He wracked his brain for the rules. "Folding so quick?"
He glanced to the others, his expression worried for a moment before twitching into a smile.
He pushed two quarters into the pot. "I raise."
Could he pull a bluff? Would he need to?
"Do you guys... ever miss home?" He tried to keep his voice casual.

Ro took a moment to look at his cards one last time before tossing them face down to the middle of the table, a garbage hand was garbage. "Probably required. Keeps it simple." He hadn't met anyone with a second language, with his cards tossed aside he looked to Jerry next shrugging, "Barely. Getting nearly killed on a weekly basis almost makes me miss it."
