"I'm going to find a dumb nickname for you one day, just you wait." He threatened half-heartedly, but supposed it was true to some degree. Miss Spider was obviously out; it was too obvious. Oh well, one day. Habit had him stroking her hair, not quite caring that she was getting tears and things all over his shirt. The shirt would get over it, he was sure.
"Nah, I'm sorry for making you cry again, not for the last year-and-three-months." See? He was counting! "You're far from a mistake."

"It won't be dumb unless it bothers me, you know," Lizzy replied, still sobbing into his shirt, enjoying the hair pets; she had missed those, "Oh. Well, that's fine then. I'm not exactly upset at you... And it's not your fault that we couldn't grow old and wrinkly together. It's nobody's fault." She ended up sobbing harder, giving Mac a squeeze.

Mac continued to stroke her hair, letting her cry it out; he wanted to, but he just couldn't bring himself to do so. Not until she was gone, anyway.
"We still can, you know. Grow old and wrinkly together. Just...just as friends, that's all." He tried to reassure her, giving her a little squeeze in return. "I'll be that crotchety old man on the front porch screaming at the kids to get off his lawn...and you can be my neighbour or something, and smack me with a ladel for being loud."
The idea seemed to amuse him.

"That'll be nice," Lizzy muttered half-heartedly, not really meaning it, still finding it difficult to accept that they couldn't do some things together anymore. The last time they did anything fun together was during prom. It seemed like such a long time ago now...
"Hey Mac?" She paused, sniffling before looking up at him, "If by the time we're both old and wrinkly, and we still can't find someone, will you marry me? I had a back-up plan, but I don't think it's going to work out anymore..."

"Sure, if we're both old, wrinkly and single...I'll marry you." Mac sincerely doubted that Lizzy would be alone all her life...but he could be her backup, because of reasons. "And hey, if you need anything don't hesitate to call me, okay?" They might have broken up, and it might be a little weird to say right now, but he was determined to hold onto her as a friend. Even if she was now a friend he probably couldn't touch again.

"Pinky promise?" She held up her pinky, waving it in front of him before tilting her head. After eyeing him for a bit, she asked, "Mmmm, anything?"

"Pinky promise." Mac nodded, lifting a pinkie to hook with hers. There, it was a pinkie promise now. No take backsies. "And yes, anything." He confirmed honestly.

After hooking their pinkies together, Lizzy wriggled her hand to seal the pinky promise.
"There's two more days of Fright Night," She explained, letting his pinky go before drying her tears on his shirt. She tried her best to smile, but it wasn't working, so she stopped trying, "But I'm not in the mood to go back... And I don't want to worry anyone anyway... So... Will you spend Fright Night with me? It's been a while since we last did anything together, so... Anything you want, anywhere you want to go. I'll probably enjoy it!"

"Oooh, that's still a dangerous thing to say, Lizzy." Mac chuckled, trying to resist every urge he had to suggest things. It'd been a long time since they'd done things...so...yeah. Clearing his throat, he gave it some thought.
"Well...that depends on how much public you wanna see. I mean...we could go to the batting cages again, or maybe stay in and play games or a movie or something." He shrugged, scratching the back of his neck briefly.

"No f-replacing-d-in-duck buddies, not while we're still in school. Think of the scarelings!" Lizzy did manage a laugh out of that, bopping him on the nose, "I don't want to see school public... So if it's outside, anywhere but school? Batting cages is fine, if that's what you want to do~"
She paused, mulling over something, "There's something else, but... It's probably a stupid idea..."

"Not while we're in school, huh?" Mac laughed, shaking his head...until she bopped his nose, and he let out a little whine instead. She explained herself a little better, but the way she trailed off had his attention.

"Yes, because shame on your student sex," She wriggled a finger at him, and then looked away, poiting her fingers together, "For the next two days... Can you still play the part of my boilfriend? And belong to me a little longer before... You go find someone else?" Which felt like something that was going to happen, sooner or later...
She paused, and then sighed, muttering under her breath, "Like I said, it's a stupid idea..."

Her request was...quite a surprise, actually. The shock was clear on his face; nobody had ever asked him to be a fake boilfriend before, especially not a ghoul who was very recently his ex. He wasn't sure how to answer, so he stayed quiet on her request for a moment or two.
"...Uhh...Why do you want to pretend for two days?" He had to know.

"I just want us to spend some time together as a couple, without any silly outside influence," Lizzy continued to mutter, her voice going softer, "And because as much as I love the school, I love you more - but I've been neglecting you, and I want to make it up to you, even if it's just a little bit... Mac wasn't sure what to say to that, specially after she explained why.
"...Err, I guess? Two days won't fix it, Lizzy. It might hurt more if we pretend for long..." He really didn't want to hurt her, at all.
