Another sound of distress had left her. Another noise. Shun just continued to hold her close until he realized she had awakened. She looked distressed as she felt his face and neck as if searching for something. Furrowing his brow, he kissed her softly again before she rested her forehead against his.
"Shhh... Mitsu... it was just a dream. I'm here. You don't need to cry," he whispered, still trying to ease her. Maybe he should bring up her voice. That might distract her a little.
"You... you started to talk in your sleep. You haven't lost your voice," he said quietly with a spark of hope in his tone. He had thought he would never hear her speak again. While he would prefer to figure this out by some way that wasn't her being plagued by a nightmare, it was still a relief in a way.

She continued to hold him close, her hands moving further back to brace his head against her trying to shield him from a danger that wasn't real. If only she could explain what they had been doing to him. The pain she could see in his face and yet when he looked at her he said it was okay, that it was better this way. He always said that right before a blood curdling scream of pain. And she had been useless to help, trapped behind a wall of glass only able to spectate the event. It wasn't okay it wasnt....
It took a moment for her words to settle in. Talk in her sleep? She had said something? Mitsu pulled back slightly opening her mouth to try but while her lips moved there were no words to hear. Her vocal chords had decided to give up apparently after she had woken.

Shun was confused. She wasn't calming down much despite his attempts to reassure her. What had happened in the dream?
"..Will you tell me about it?" he asked, though his attention soon shifted back to the matter of her voice. Mitsu tried to speak right now, but nothing was coming out. He frowned lightly at this.
"You.. must still be healing.. you definitely did make noises and tried to call out my name while you were still asleep... but.. this is a good sign. Your voice isn't lost for good," he whispered.
His gaze flickered over towards where they had left the laptop. For now it seemed they would still need to use that. Hopefully her voice will be back soon though.

Mitsu frowned deeply her hand coming up to her throat. It felt sore and raw but it was a physical reassurance that Shun hadn't gone through what she imagined. No, it was only her. No one else had suffered. It was the only small relief she had though the mental imagery was so intense and real.
Eyes closing she let out a silent sigh pressing her head into the pillow before she buried her face from view. If only she could forget the nightmare. She wanted to tell Shun, tell him how scared she was but she wasn't sure letting the computer program do it for her would convey the emotion she had behind it. The voice was so flat and lifeless. It really gave no measure to how much this situation frightened her, even more so knowing that it was still a possibility.

She didn't really answer him, though she was relaxing now. As Mitsu buried her face into the pillow, he lightly petted her on the head. It wasn't quite the same without her long hair, but he made due with what he had here. With a sort of grimace, he soon sat up and reached for the laptop, bringing it up in case she wanted to speak.
"I have your laptop ready.. if you want to talk," he said quietly, seeing how she couldn't see him at the moment.

Tilting her head up from her little dark cave of isolation Mitsu stared at the laptop as Shun brought it closer. Taking in a deep breath she sat up slightly, drawing one of the covers around herself before she began to type.
'I'm sorry I had a bad dream. I didn't wake you did I?' It wasn't much of an answer but she wanted to make sure she wasn't the cause for him being up as well. It didn't seem like they had slept much. Maybe a couple of hours at the most.

"I figured that much... do you want to talk about it?" he asked quietly, Shun shifted a little closer, staring at the screen for a moment. But then he shook his head.
"No. I woke up a little earlier. You were sleeping pretty peacefully at first.. it was nice to see," he answered softly.

She hesitated before she began to type waiting for Shun to fully explain that he had already been awake and seen her sleeping. So she had been sleeping well? It must have been before the dreams settled in.
Trying to decide where to start Mitsu's hands lingered over the keyboard. 'I was in the lab.' She started hesitating again. 'It was like I was there again enduring the pain unable to escape but then I heard your voice.' Her hands drew back from the keyboard a bit, clenching into fists for a moment before she uncurled them and tried to continue. 'Suddenly...you were in my place they were taking you apart piece by piece and I couldn't do a thing to stop them.' She was shaking slightly at the memory. 'And worst of all you kept telling me it was okay but it wasn't. I hated it more than enduring everything myself.'
She drew back from the laptop then, pulling the covers in around her tighter. It was hard processing this new fear alongside the other ones. There was just too much to think about, too many things threatening her and her loved ones. How was she ever going to be able to protect her home?
Home...
Again that word resonated with her. The thought of home was compelling but the threat to it was frightening.

Shun frowned as he heard the computerized voice explain what had been going on in Mitsu's dream. It was disturbing to hear that she was dreaming of that place. Though, he soon let out a sigh as it seemed that he took her place in the dream. It was he who was under the knife.
He still wished at times that he could have been in her place. If it meant that she wouldn't have had to endure that pain.
"Only... it is ok. Because it didn't happen," he whispered while holding her close, he was trying to get her to stop shaking, "They won't get me. Just as they won't take you again."
The Reaper's eye cast downwards, then he shook his head.
"I wish I could protect you in your dreams... that's one area I've always failed to help you with.."
He tried. But there wasn't much he could do about her nightmares. Even this time apparently him talking to her in an attempt to soothe her only made it take a worse turn.

Mitsu shook her head pulling the blankets up and over her to hide as Shun pulled her in close trying to comfort her in an embrace. It wasn't okay, she didn't want to see him that way, she didn't want to entertain the thought that it could happen but she couldn't erase it. The possibility that it could still happen was there.
Scraps....
That's all she had been. How could she let that happen to him? It only took one mistake, one misstep, one ounce of dead weight and they could all be taken. Mitsu had seen parts of their facility. Hunters roamed the halls like ants in a colony. Where they might get rid of one five more were going to take their place and more than likely be seeking revenge.
Hands clutching for him Mitsu buried her face in Shun's chest. Her dreams were a matter of chaos. They always had been despite Xiu's attempt and despite Shun's. She just had no control over her own mind and even less so now than before. It seemed in trance she had started to make some headway but now she wasn't sure she wouldn't be diving back into the lab all over again.

Shun let out a sigh as that was all Mitsu had to say. When she buried her face into his chest, he held her in his arms gently though firmly.
"I almost lost you once. I'm not going to let that happen again. I... I'd be so lost without you. I can't let it happen. Nothing like that ever again.." he whispered.
The reaper closed his eye, trying to think. His attempts to push out the bad thoughts with some good memories hadn't really worked all too well right now. He'd need to do more.
"As for the dreams..." he started, but trailed off. He really didn't know what could help. His attempts to teach her to meditate hadn't gone so well. How was he trained to focus? He tried to remember. It had to have been one of the earlier things for him. Even then... the methods used on himself may not be good for her.
A lot of these methods were harsh or violent and all.

Mitsu didn't know what to tell him about dreams. It was always a source of her undoing. Maybe her mind just didn't work like it was supposed to. All she knew was she didn't want to lose him. Especially not the way she had seen in her dream.
Not wanting to leave his arms Mitsu groped for the laptop and when she finally found it brought it close enough to type 'I don't want to lose you either.' There would be no way for her to learn to live without him. He was too much a part of her world. It would cripple her beyond repair and she knew that for certain. What the hunters did to her would be a cake walk to deal with in comparison.

Losing her for good would likely do some pretty bad things to him as well. Just the times when Shun thought he had lost her recently were bad enough. He had become self destructive for one.
"You won't lose me..." he whispered, while trying to think some more. Trying to remember.
Well. In a way, he supposed that his ability to focus was just from his training in general. Maybe. He wasn't sure. Furrowing his brow, he tried to look at Mitsu more in the eyes.
"I think.. in general it would help to start training again. Or at least getting more activity. It.. might help you take your mind off of these things. Help you focus. If you can focus you should be able to have an easier time meditating and.. well dealing with your dreams," he said, trying to work this out verbally. It wasn't hard to see that he was still thinking as he spoke.
"Plus. It will make you stronger. We'll both be able to handle what comes our way better. And.. I promise I won't overdo it... if you don't either."
There was a pause.
"It doesn't even always have to be straight up training either. There are other things as well."

Training? Mitsu supposed it couldn't hurt. While she was still strong in a sense her body was weak. Their previous activity had left her exhausted and tired despite how enjoyable it had been. She tried to think back to those few hours ago when nothing else mattered. It had been rather nice.
She nodded slightly about not overdoing it and when he shifted closer she leaned against him. Somehow her mind was so sluggish and on other things that it took her a moment to process what he meant. Oh...oh that.
Looking at Shun a little sheepishly she tried to smile and nudged him playfully. It was a weak gesture but it seemed she was on her way to leaving the dream behind for now.

When she nudged him with a sheepish, Shun quirked his brow, but then held her a little more closely.
"We can start whatever whenever you'd like," he said quietly, "But.. sooner would probably be better. If you want to rest a little longer though, that would be fine."
Everything last night was pretty tiring and all. She might not quite be ready at this moment to go out running or anything else particularly strenuous.
Looking into her eyes with his one good one, he softly added, "Whatever you want.. I'm here for you. To try and help you and make things better."
He was willing to do just about anything to try and make her feel better and to help heal these mental wounds she had now.
