Haides blinked slowly and tilted his head, trying to figure out what she found so funny about what he'd said. He didn't see anything particularly amusing about it.
"Quite frankly, the matter of trust never came into my head." He'd just... started talking. And for some reason, with Jaromila, it came naturally the way it didn't with anyone else. "... I think... one of the problems with that logic is that Serenity and Ve'ki don't really feel like my parents. I've associated them with being Beta's adopted parents, but not my own." He paused. "Maybe in part because Beta..." He trailed off as he stared distantly into his surroundings, his thoughts somewhere else.
(( He'll probably never be completely comfortable doing so, but he might start calling her Mom/Mother after her foals are born so that they don't get confused. XD ))

Jaromila saw him tilt her head and she knew she must have confused him.
"Well, I do believe you need to start trusting people, since some of the people and Azrein you meet will teach you even more things. Just be careful who you put your trust in, since some may try to hurt you. I am sure they feel like your parents, you just have to give them a chance, Haides. If you close yourself off, you will not get to fully experience the joy of having people love you. Maybe you should try to see them as your parents too, not just Beta's. Now, why the pause, what is on your mind?"Jaromila asked.
((Not a bad idea, considering he doesn't want his siblings to be asking questions lol. Serenity does see him as her son smile Oh and don't forget, Haides isn't the only one who Serenity adopted that's a boy lol.))

"I thought that was common knowledge," he replied frankly. He knew about being wary around strangers. Just with Jaromila, something... clicked, aligned correctly, or something. He felt at ease around her.
He blinked when he realized his mind had wandered and he'd stopped talking. "Beta... always calls me... her best friend. So I guess... when I see Beta with Serenity and the others..." His gaze returned to Jaromila. "My mind automatically identifies them as my best friend and her family."
(( True, but at first he was. XD I think there needs to be a list somewhere of all the children Serenity's adopted. ))

Jaromila nodded, it should be common knowledge, but she knew not everyone heeded that advice about being careful about strangers. When he spoke about Beta, a soft smile came to her lips and the perfect reply came to her lips.
"It is nice to have a best friend and I am glad you have someone who considers you that. Though, you know, your best friend and sister can be the same person. Beta can be both to you, there would be nothing wrong with that. For example, my sisters are like my best friends, so they are both to me. So just because she is your best friend does not mean she cannot be your sister and the others your family too,"Jaromila pointed out.
((Yes, I probably should make a list somewhere of all of Serenity's adopted children lol))

"But your sisters were your sisters before they were your best friends," Haides countered. "Beta has been calling me her best friend since before I met Serenity and Ve'ki. ... And that is... still what she refers to me as." He looked up and thought for a moment before returning his gaze to Jaromila. "I do not recall Beta even once calling me her brother. Kalyani has... and Serenity calls me her son. Ve'ki calls me Serenity's son and acts like a father figure, but is not officially with Serenity. ... Likely out of respect for her mate, his deceased brother." It didn't take much to figure out why.

Jaromila thought about what to reply to him about what he just said about what Beta calls him.
"Maybe you should ask Beta if she considers you a brother and part of the family. Sometimes people use names so much that they forget that a relationship has changed. Yes, I had them my sisters before, but does not mean that Beta cannot start the other way. Kalyani already considers you a brother and Serenity sees you as a son. That should tell you something, Haides, you might want to listen. Also, I can understand he wants to be respectful to his brother, but maybe he would want it that his beloved went with his mate,"Jaromila spoke.
((Or just put them under offspring and put adopted in parenthesis next to them. They are her offspring, just not biological, but loved nonetheless.))

"That's a pointless question to ask. I already know the answer." Haides shrugged. "As for the others... it's possible for me to eventually think of them as family. However... it's a process that will take time." He looked up. "And I'm always listening."
His throat growing dry again from all of his talking, the colt stooped and took another drink from the lake before commenting on her last reply. "I don't know if that's the case or not. Quite frankly, I don't exceptionally care, as their love lives are none of my business."

Jaromila realized she needed a drink too, so she bent down and lapped up some water. She brought her head back up as be began to talk and she nodded.
"Well, if you know the answer, maybe you should start acting the way she would answer. I am sure you will consider them family, hopefully it will not take too much time. Life passes us by everyday, you never want to miss a golden opportunity. Oh and their love lives may not be your direct business, but you need to be there for your mother. I am sure she would be there for you, if the roles were reversed. Of course, not sure how noisy I would be in what my parents are doing,"Jaromila smiled.

"I already do." Haides let his blue gaze fix on Jaromila again. "And I suppose. ... That's one of the only things I'm good at." Being there. Whether he was a help or hindrance was up to debate, but he was always there. Often unseen, but there. He went silent for several moments before bringing up a thought that didn't seem directly related to the current topic. "I think Beta would like to meet you."

Jaromila smile brightened as he said he thought Beta would like meeting her.
"I would enjoy meeting her too, she sounds like quite an interesting filly. In fact, I would not mind meeting your whole family, they sound like a very nice bunch. Now for my family, maybe when you are feeling up to it, I can introduce them to you. I think you might like them, they are a very interesting bunch, though I would not force you to meet them,"Jaromila spoke.

The faintest of smiles flickered across Haides's face for a brief moment. "That... may be an understatement." He nodded slowly. "I think they would like that." The colt blinked when Jaromila invited him to meet her family. "... I... wouldn't mind that," he replied, looking out over the lake. "... Though I doubt I will talk this much with them." He was notoriously quiet around everyone else.

Jaromila laughed lightly, her tail swishing back and forth in excitement.
"Well, I shall see just how interesting she is when I finally get to meet her and the rest of your family. I just hope I can get along with them, since I have not interacted with many outside my own family. It is alright if you do not talk much, my father is not always very talkative either. So, it might be all the girls doing all the talking,"Jaromila grinned.

"I wouldn't be surprised," Haides replied honestly. After all, Beta was very chatty, and Serenity would want to know more about this filly that her asocial son decided to strike up conversation with. He wondered just how much it would surprise her. He didn't expect Beta to be surprised; she never was when it came him. And that didn't surprise him either.
"When do you want to meet them?" he inquired. He wouldn't have minded whisking her away to meet them at that very moment, but he doubted she'd choose such a method. After all, she said her own family was very important to her; she wouldn't just run off without at least telling them where she was going.

Jaromila looked thoughtful for a moment, wondering when a good time to meet his family would be. Her tail swished behind her as she thought, trying to think of a good answer.
"How about we set up a meeting with our two families tomorrow, that way we will not feel as awkward. Then we can do this together, where you meet my family and I meet your's. What do you think?"Jaromila asked.

"... I would not mind that. It may be hard to pull off if we wait too long, however. Serenity is pregnant, after all." And the longer they waited, the harder it would be for the mare to move around.
"But I don't think it'll be too difficult to arrange." After all, Serenity had seemed a little irked that he didn't socialize very much. Well, as much as Serenity could look irked.
