Otto's head turned to face Candace, bewildered at first that she volunteered to go. Her voice and tone had been so gentle and non aggressive that he just didn't know how to take it. Before he could protest or saying anything, even though nothing came when he tried, she was gone.
The room was silent again. An unfamiliar room not his own, but definitely way nicer than his (even though it used to be hers). He felt awkward and uncomfortable. None of this was his. It was not his territory. And she had gone out to grab what had been left behind just so he didn't have to. He always felt awkward accepting help or kindness. He just didn't know what to do.
The teenager found the couch, flopping down and lounging in a slouched posture; arms flayed at his sides and knees apart. He may not have felt comfortable earlier but he certainly was now.
He'd just have to wait, and hope he didn't owe any favours.

Damn she really hoped she found this hat. It was just a stupid had but Otto seemed genuinely bothered by its disappearance, and if it was her fault she was determined to correct the mistake. On the bright side it probably wouldn't be a bad thing if she took her time; it would give Otto some alone time to relax and calm down after a somewhat exciting evening. No sign of the hat on the second floor...oh dear. She stopped at the top of the stairs and looked up the hall again. Damn. Still a stairway and the first floor bathroom to go.
She slowly made her way down the stairs, eyes on the ground and looking for that damn hat. In all honesty even if she found a hat she was probably going to go all the way back to the men's bathroom anyway. Candace had no idea what this hat looked like, he did have more than one, so unless she went all the way there and back with only one hat she wasn't going to instantly assume it was Otto's.
Damn, Candace, you're getting really good at losing things.
No hat on the stairs. Oh dear. This wasn't looking good. And there was no hat on the first floor...time for the bathroom. She looked left, she looked right..no one here. Candace opened the door enough to hear inside, standing close and just listening. No chattering, no footsteps, no running water. Okay, so unless someone was just sitting in there silent as a grave the coast should be clear. The door was opened enough for Candace to slip into the room and then close the door behind her, checking the entire bathroom for any sign of the damn hat.
Eventually Candace returned to her room, opening the door and humming quietly. He was still here, right? A look around the main living area showed her he was on the couch. She smiled. "Honey, I'm home~." Candace teased, holding a hand up with what she hoped was Otto's hat. "It's the only one I found. Is this it? It looks..handmade." She blinked, looking down at the hat and stroking her thumb over it. Maybe it was just the style...or did...awwwwww! Did someone make Otto a hat? That's adorable! No wonder he wanted it back!

Otto was startled out of a daze when Candace returned, shuffling himself to the arm rest of the couch and practically hanging over it like a useless lump. "Yo." He replied flatly to her cute little greeting.
He was relieved to see it had been found. While outwardly he remained the same, inside he was happy. "Yeah, it is. Molly made it for me as a get well present."

"Molly?" Candace looked down at the hat and her expression softened. She smiled fondly, taking the hat and neatly putting it on her own head. That was sweet of her. "And are you truly well? This is sweet. Molly is the best."
Still standing by the door and wearing the hat, Candace suddenly grinned and shot Otto a sly look. "I think I'll keep it~. Molly's gifts are wasted on you. Plus, I think it looks better on me anyway."

Truly well? Wait.. what was she doing? Why was she wearing his hat? Whatever, it wasn't like she was going to keep it.
Wait..
Damnit.
Otto lifted his head up from resting it on the arm rest to scowl at the dark skinned woman. "Nuh uh! That's mind!" He barked, not yet moving from his comfy spot. She was just teasing... right?

Otto sat straight up. "NO WAY! GIVE IT BACK!"
He hopped over the couch and ran over to grab it off of her head.

Oh s**t! Candace was laughing as she darted out of the way and ran, heading for her bedroom and slamming the door behind her. She threw herself against the door to try and keep it closed for the inevitable force of Otto trying to force it open. "Make me!"

Otto's body slammed right into the door with a mighty thud.
Undeterred by the ache of blunt force trauma, the boy pushed against the door with all his might while twisting the door knob. "It's MINE! I don't gotta make you! Give it back!"

Oh god her sides were going to hurt so badly soon with how hard she was laughing. Candace snorted, which made her laugh worse. "Nuh uh! It's mine now~! It's the least you could do after the way you've treated me tonight. Hell, I made you dinner!" No, she wasn't actually going to ask for anything in return for what she'd done for him today, but this game was actually pretty fun. She couldn't remember the last time she had played keep away.

Her laughter fueled his fire. Otto slammed his fist against the door multiple time, body slamming it to try and over power Candace.
"What!? You never said it came with a price!" Otto snapped, banging on the door again. "THAT'S CHEATIIIIING!" Otto whined, soon sliding down against the door, his nails dragging on the way down.

She fell onto her side now, hugging herself and laughing.
At some point Candace had rolled away from the door enough for it to be pushed open should Otto try again. Ahaha she could hear his nails! Pffffft! "All's fair in hats and waaaar~."

There was finally some give, and Otto forced his way inside, immediately leaping on the woman and grabbing the hat.

There was a startled shriek of protest amidst the laughter when Otto swooped down upon her, clutching the hat and trying to roll away. Noooooooo!

Crap. He was fast bu not fast enough. But Otto wouldn't give up. The teenager grabbed her hands and tried to pry them away from his captured hat, stadling her waist to keep her from rolling anymore.
"Give it!"
So eloquent.
