Tox chuckled a little at the expression she had on her face. It was cute. "Fire of the dawn huh? Maybe they named you that because of your colors? I've seen a couple sunrises with the same colors as your fur. Though all and all its lovely."

Avatre wrinkled her nose and looked down at her fur. "It can't decide whether it wants to be red or pink. I'm not complaining though, I actually rather like the color. It's a little more dawn than sunrise, I do admit."
She looked at Tox, tilting her head. "Your purple is nice too though." She grinned a little, extending a wing. "It's about the same shade as mine."

Tox chuckled and stretched himself up so that he was closer to her wing but not touching it.. "My purple is slightly darker than yours but the orang-ish streaks in your hair seem to match mine almost perfectly though mine are a bit wider. Your colors blend nicely together and has enough of each to keep a balance."

"Ironically, my parents are both more of a red." Avatre sat back, blinking, not really sure what to say or do next. She didn't really know Tox, had no reason to hang around and baby him when she still needed to find shelter for the night, and wasn't really good with strangers anyway. Hell, the last stranger had ended in babies, and she wasn't ready for another brood just yet!
On the other hand she had been a part of the reason for his injury (only a teeny tiny bit, wasn't her fault she had tough bones!) and it went against her nature to just walk away from someone with a major head injury. Not to mention he'd just ate a plant that may or may not affect him negatively; it was different for everyone, though feverfew was generally safe.
She rocked back and forth on her feels, undecided....

"That is quite ironic. They have none of your other colors?" Tox asked. Genetics was something that did interests him. It was amazing what you could get when you cross two others together. Tox watched as Avatre shifted from paw to paw and glanced here and there. Something was making her uncomfortable but he wasn't sure what. "Um I hope you don't mind me asking but is there something the matter?"

Avatre stilled her shifting and shook her head. "Not really, just having an internal debate with myself," she told Tox in response to his inquiry, and left it at that.
"I don't really know about my parents though, you'd have to ask my friend. I assume I have a little of their color somewhere, but I guess it's possible I take after other generations of my family." She shrugged. "It never really interested me much. I am who I am no matter what, and what my parents look like isn't all that important."

"Anything that could use an outside opinion I'd be willing to help." He said commenting on her inner debate. He wasn't going to push it since they had just meet and he really didn't have the right.
"You are right. You are who you are and your coloring just makes you more you. I just have an interest in genes and how they work as well as the results. Sorry its pretty nerdy but yet fascinating."

Avatre silently regarded the male. She couldn't claim any interest in the subject herself; it all seemed to be completely random chance what kinds of colors a kit got from its parents. A clone, a mix... The parent could have just a tiny smidge of color that you didn't even notice, and their kit could come out entirely in that color. There was no rhyme or reason to it, thus Avatre didn't really feel it worth her time to ponder.
Still, she didn't look down on Tox for being interested. She could see how those very mysteries might appeal, even if she thought they were wastes of time. Avatre had always been more practical and prefered the world of things she herself could control.
Speaking of control, Avatre found herself right back at her original dilemma. Go, or stay? She still needed to find a suitable shelter for her size, though given her luck so far it didn't seem like she'd find anything that would fit her exacting standard tonight.
"Do you have a shelter of any kind that you need help reaching," Avatre asked, still turning thoughts over in her head.

"Well I'm actually far from my home but up that hill that I happened to tumble down was some shelter. Though I did pass it a good distance ago. If you have no where to go I think it would be big enough for you as well. Its a cave/den built into the side of the hill," Tox said while pointing past her and up the way he had came. Going down hill the distance always seemed shorter than up but he suppose that was because of the resistance that was put onto one's body.
"Do you have a place?"

Avatre rolled her eyes, a little of her ire at the forest showing through. "No, I don't. I was just visiting for a bit, a little wandering, but really I dislike forests." She gave the branches above them a sour look, and didn't seem that pleased with the thick underbrush either.
"I wasn't even aware this place had hills, that bluff you took a dive off of is the only bit of raised land I've seen all day." Avatre shrugged, her distaste for forests showing openly on her face. "I come more from desert lands, near the mountains. Proper, open spaces, and enough caves that I could have a suite of them if I wanted and still leave plenty left over."

" I did say it was a ways back. I'm not sure how long I've been wondering. Though I understand why you as a daeva would like those places. Plenty of space and you don't have to worry about your wings getting caught or hit on anything..... maybe I should visit something with a bit more open space and flatter ground since its apparent that I'm going to kill myself if I keep staying in forests." His voice began to show an unpleasant tone the more he talked about the forest and how often he ended up hurting himself in it. He was really considering leaving them behind but had no idea where to go.

Avatre raised an eyebrow. "Open ground comes with its challenges too. Water and game tends to be scarcer, not to mention harder to get. Not a lot of color out there, so you'd have to get really good at stalking and waiting with that purple of yours."
She shifted her wings, looking over Tox into the forest beyond. "Depending on what kind of terrain you pick, shelter comes in varying levels of difficulty to find." She looked down at Tox and gave him a small smile. "Don't get me wrong, I love the open land. It's just got its own difficulties."

Tox thought it over and became unsure if that was something he should do... but he did have a horrible time in the forest. So if he wasn't at a forest and wasn't at a flat place what was left out there? He had no clue.
"Maybe I should go with someone who knows the area and learn from them. Like a trial run thing to see if I'd be able to cope. No point in moving to a new area if you can't survive in it right?"

Avatre's eyebrow arched upward. "Well that might work. I've been doing the same with my son, though at a distance since he's a proud little fool at times. He's been getting better at desert survival though, enough for me to take a break from watching him."
She stood, stretching lazily. "Do you know anyone who knows the desert or plainlands?"

Tox chuckles as Avatre talks about her son. It was funny how some things were. Like children wanting to be independent of their parents yet when they are how they miss them.
"No I don't but I've heard of a few tribes in the desert I could see if I can get someone from one of them to help me."
