Even though Esme and Ayato had looked at Naano, she kept silent. Talking wasn't something she was willingly to do at the moment, and she preferred for Esme to do most of the talking anyways. But, she had walked ahead of them. "Damn short legs" she muttered quietly to herself. Naano couldn't help her slow walking speed because even if she took more steps than the red haired woman, she would still be either equal or slightly behind her.
She eventually spoke to answer Ayato's question. "I believe that it's the Pokemon itself that decides. There's no other impending force that decides. That Pokemon's probably fighting with the idea of being your companion, or being free. It's a hard decision to make you know." The pair continued to walk further into town, when they heard Esme's voice. Of course, Ayato took it in the most awkward manner. Naano couldn't help herself but bring her hand to her face. "Honestly Aya?".
Her friend's face was a deep rosy red that made Naano have to try and stop herself from chortling with laughter. "Ayato, calm down. Esme's a lot of things, but not one of those.". As his face only got redder she finally burst out laughing "She said sword for Arceus's sake!". Thinking of all the people she had ever heard of who carried around a sword, she thought about the police force who had made themselves known around these parts. She could only think of one name though, Seth. Sadly, she couldn't remember where exactly she had heard it.
To snap Ayato out of his embarassment, Naano punched his arm as she continued to laugh. Once more, she began to snort. Once again, her nerves took over and more of the stress meshed itself into her laughs. It was nice. She could feel them slowly melt away.
But she was still unsure of what was next, could she ask Seth for advice if it was truly him that Esme was talking to? Naano couldn't tell....
"Naa-chan!"
Naano perked up her ears and looked around wildly. She could have sworn she hear a male voice, but it couldn't be. It was probably her imagination. Looking towards Ayato she sighed at the realization that he didn't hear the call. Even if it was him, he'd never be that stupid. He had a crooked smile for a reason.
