Bleu_Fyre--I somewhat agree with what you said. But wait! You went to Sakura Con? o_o I did too. I typically cosplay Sephiroth, but I hung it up this year for Rufus. Did you cosplay..? I wonder if I saw you. o.o
And in response to the main point of this thread, I have to say, I hardly believe Sephiroth was the one in control the whole game. I had been under the impression, after playing the whole way through several times, that it was Jenova in control all along. That, in the game, Sephiroth died 5 years prior when he fell into the Lifestream. And, it was Jenova that broke herself out of containment at Shinra, not Sephiroth. (After all, it it WAS Sephiroth that took her, where did she go?) At this point, Jenova takes the form of Sephiroth for the rest of the game. --In various points in the game, we're told that Jenova killed the Cetra by taking the form of their dead loved ones and then killing them when they were vulnerable. So, it makes sense that she would be able to portray Sephiroth. Also, many times when you run into "Sephiroth" in the game, you end up fighting Jenova, after he throws a piece of her at you. I think it makes a lot more sense that it is Jenova herself throwing forms at you, rather than Sephiroth carrying around the body of Jenova--because you never see him carrying anything like that.
Of course, Sephiroth's body is preserved in the Northern Crater, so he's not completely toast. He does still have Jenova's cells inside of him, which (because it seems that Jenova's lasted ages AND been beheaded AND isn't dead, that she's pretty hard to kill) keeps him alive in at the minimal definition of the word--stasis, perhaps. It's my belief that Jenova uses the stasis Sephiroth, and the -idea- of Sephiroth to lure Cloud along because he was a figure that Cloud knew and had looked up to.
As for "Sephiroth" summoning Meteor and becoming a god, one again, I believe this was really Jenova's goal. Think about it. For hundreds of years, she was furious that the Cetra and humans took over what she had wanted to be HER planet. So naturally, becoming a god would be a good way of getting back.
These are just my observations. Feel free to leave comments or ask me about them. I'm not just BSing this stuff; I've played the game over and over, so that's what I get.
Take care. ^_^

I'm not really sure if anyone notices it-in Advent Children, the characters are saying "Reunion" in English and the original(Hebrew) name of Sephiroth "Sephiros" and "Jenova" in English- is there some kind of significance (sp?) in using the English/Hebrew words?

kasuyana I'm not really sure if anyone notices it-in Advent Children, the characters are saying "Reunion" in English and the original(Hebrew) name of Sephiroth "Sephiros" and "Jenova" in English- is there some kind of significance (sp?) in using the English/Hebrew words? The reason he's called "Sephiros" is because there is no "th" sound in Japanese, so instead they use "s". (If you've ever heard a Japanese person say, "Sank-you," it makes sense. ^_^) -- However, when they write it in romanized characters (American letters instead of Japanese symbols), they use the "th". It's just because they don't have that sound, it's difficult for many Japanese people to pronounce it. Thus, the "s" sound. As for the word "Reunion", it's the same way in the video game (Japanese version)--it's written in katakana, meaning that it's a foreign word. They chose to use the foreign (English) word instead of a Japanese word. I think that's all there is to it, but I'm not sure.

in this one video clip from the internet, it explains why that all the people that sephiroth kills never comes back. it explains that his sword disables or prevents any phenix downs (sp) from working.
and also you cant blame the guy for wanted to destroy the world. he sees it as evil.
