The felt completely drenched right now - the rain and the sweat from both the physical exertion and the queasy, clammy feeling that was beginning to creep over her due to the leaves Chandra instructed her to eat. But the end... was it finally in sight? Could she she just muscle through these last few contractions... these last few pushes.....

She stretched out her wings and ran their tips along Balrog, as if she could siphon some of his strength. Just one more push...

"What have you fed her?" He demanded, turning his apprehension and fear on the mare that was trying to help. He hadn't been present for the warnings of the possible side effects, nor seen Stormwild's informed consent. "What is wrong with her?"

This wasn't like the other births. She seemed distant.

Chandra was paying more attention to the last foal and not Balrog as his voice boomed towards her, she felt guilty that she had been left with no other choice, and she didn't blame him for his anger. Still, the little wings on the top of her head flopped down. She disliked being shouted at.... and right now it was a distraction.

Looking up from the Stormwild and the foal she focused her gaze on Balrog, and a steel determination set into place. This was her domain right now, and she needed to focus or else they risked both mother and foal, something she was not willing to do simply because of a few angered and worried words; she was pretty sure Stormwild didn't need them either. "Raspberry Leaves, now please, I beg of you... let me concentrate or I could lose both this foal and your mate." She was serious about the possible threat to their lives, still her features softened again. "I swear to you... I have done, and will continue to do everything in my power to avoid that outcome."

She could hear Stormwilds laboured breathing increase and turned her full attention back to her. Part of her felt cruel and heartless for being so blunt with Balrog, and she hoped that the old stallion wouldn't hold it against her or chase her from his lands before she finished her task.

Moments later she managed to aid the final foal into the world. It was still, too still for Chandra's liking, but as she snuggled it into it's basket she placed her unicorn horn upon it, closed her eyes and made a wish. Please Alignak, I may not be the best of healers, I may not hold the power over life and death as unicorns do... but please... give me the power to save this foal. She felt her unicorn magic course through her veins, the familiar warm tingle erupting from her horn and into the delicate foal's body. Quickly she placed the top over him, not wanting anything else to interfere with his healing. She hoped the strange properties of the basket would do what she could not. She watched all four baskets for a moment, the first two wiggling slightly as baskets often did, the second two appearing more lethargic, the older of the two moved a little, the last seemed quiet. Placing her ear on top of the basket she listened... Tha-dump. Tha-dump. A heartbeat, and one that seemed to be getting stronger with each passing moment. Satisfied all four were alive she turned back to Stormwild and helped her get rid of the remaining placenta.

The adrenaline from the situation started to fade now, and a sad melancholy settled across her face. Slowly she looked up to Balrog, for a moment she just looked at him, but after a moment she found words escaping her. "I am sorry.... for my earlier outburst.... I.... had no right. Please forgive me." Standing to her four hooves she lowered her head and forelegs in the way her father Maion had taught her. The ultimate sign that you were not a threat, the ultimate vulnerable position since it was not the easiest to react to an attack from.... not that she expected one to come.

Crown's head snapped towards Balrog, Chandra and the scene when he heard the demanding question coming from the elder. Anger flashed across his face, how could anyone talk to Chandra like that? She had done nothing more than try to help! Plus, the stallion knew nothing of what had transpired in his absence. He was about to step forward and interfere with a warning when Chandra surprised him by stepping up herself. The fact that she did said one thing to Crown... Chandra was worried, seriously worried, about something.

His eyes wandered to the baskets and the empty fourth... would they be holding a funeral instead of a welcoming party for it? He hoped not. In many ways the couple didn't know how lucky they were to have Chandra, in Crown's eyes she was a miracle worker... had saved his cousin Alice when all others would have lost her, would have given up. The strength he saw shining from her Ocean Blue eyes reminded him so much of Maion.... he wanted that... wanted to have the inner strength to stand up for his beliefs no matter who or what stood between him and them. He stepped closer, wanting to be there for Chandra should she need it, if things turned ugly he would hold his promise to Sonnet.

She could not read the concerned expression on her face or the little dash of unicorn magic that had been delivered. What she did know is that there were now four baskets and the rumbling exchange between the midwife and her mate. She rested her head on the ground and closed her eyes, attempting to control a wave of nausea that washed over her. She should sleep... she knew Balrog and Thunderbrid were close and would watch over the new little ones...

But Kumiho's skinwalker strength came streaked with overconfidence and a short patience. While she was certainly a more patient and even-minded monster than most of her cursed kin, she still could barely contain the excitement and anticipation of her new baskets. Stormwild might as well be a sitting goose, passed out, exhausted and drugged, on the ground after the difficult birth. Blood was thick in the air, and the terse exchange between Chanda and Balrog seemed at have distracted him momentarily. In her mind, this was the best chance they were going to get. "I will grab the baskets, you protect me and distract the father," she hissed in her Cerberus's ear. "GO! NOW~!"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Balrog's ears pinned back and he tossed his head with a snort as the delicate mare stood up to him. And for once, the elder stallion who led a herd, protected a bounteous territory, but the unquavering voice of authority in a matter that Balrog had no real experience in.. it stopped the words in his mouth. He grit his teeth, his muscles shook. He was furious, but had no outlet for the rage. He was half tempted to take to wing and join his son in flying in the storm, but loyalty for and concern for his mate and his newborn foals kept his hoof on the ground.

Instead, he tore a divot out of the grass with a strike of his hoof and walked back to Stormwild's head. Only then did the true meaning of Chandra's words sink home.

"let me concentrate or I could lose both this foal and your mate". And real, honest fear took hold of his shoulders as he whispered gently to his lifemate, "Hold in there, Storm. You are strong, I know it. Your age has brought you power and respect. Show me how strong you are. How strong our children will be,"

And then it was over. The last foal was out and stormwild lay back in exhaustion. And Balrog could breathe.

He regarded Chandra and her apology. Balrog knew his own temper, and he knew that this mare had come to help him in a time of need, out of nothing other than the goodness of her heart. His eyes averted to the ground. But he was also a proud stallion, and while he should have apologized, instead, he said, "Stormwild... our foals... will they be all right?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Cerberus did not need to be instructed twice. His legs had grown sore in the waiting, his wings wet by the rain. He was irritated, uncomfortable with the sneaking around in another's territory, but most of all. But action, Action he could handle.

Cerberus sprung to action, the eyes that dotted his pelt snapping open along with his wings as he surged forward, all snarl and snap and vile and bite. He was a true monster - neither skinwalker nor wind, but some kind of horrible amalgamation of the two with bristling fur and clawed paws, but the full size of a horse. Still, his dark fur might have easily been mistaken for a purewalker with a coat of similar color to a pelt - and Cerberus certainly wasn't remaining still for an inspection. The wings on his back struck a profile like extra heads, and the snapping "jaws" only furthered that illusion. He rushed forward, making a bee-line for the stallion.

He could do distraction - he had ages to perfect his intimidating front as the guard he had been for longer than he could remember.

As soon as the words had left Balrog's mouth, there was a sudden commotion at the edge of the clearing, where the edge of the woods climbed up the moutain as far as it could reach before giving up. He had concentrated so much on the birth, on Chandra and the other new arrival, on Stormwild's weakness that he was caught off guard for just a moment, staring slack-jawed at the ebony-furred creature that was barreling towards him.

But only a moment.

His wings unfurled and he reared with a booming whinny like thunder, his hooves striking out defensively for the impending colission...

When Balrog's question she came she raised her head, nothing but honesty shining through her eyes. "Yes. I believe they will all be fine. Your boys seem strong." Well, the first three did, but Chandra had faith that the last would also survive and grow to be as large and intimidating as his father....

...she was about to take a breath, to collapse to the ground from the sudden drain on her energy... but she never got the chance. It was almost as if she watched the scene from above, from somewhere far away and distant. She could see herself, the four baskets, Stormwild, Crown and Balrog all playing their parts as a creature as black as the shadows themselves came forth. Her heart thundered in her chest as she heard Balrogs war cry, and in that moment, as she watched him prepare for the attack she knew what she had to do.

Unlike everyone else in her herd she had always refused to learn any fighting, even the basics to defend herself, believing that there had to be another way, that peace and love had a place. Slowly this view was starting to change, even under the protection her father brought to the Miakoda herd things happened... take Haki, he had nearly lost his life trying to protect Sonnet from a pure skinwalker. Frantic eyes moved to the baskets and the mare who was obviously too weak to protect herself right now.... she might not be any good at driving a creature back but there was something she could do! She could be a shield. Spreading her four mighty Angeni wings she moved the four baskets closer to their mother and sat, her wings covering each of the precious cargo as well part of Stormwild. She started to talk, her words as if to sooth Stormwild, but in part they were to keep her calm also, too sooth herself. "It's ok.... I promise to do everything to keep them safe... just rest... Balrog is here.... Balrog is fighting for you." She looked up at Crown then, her eyes pleading for something she wasn't sure how to put into words. Help!

User Image

Everything happened so fast, things going from the calmness and quiet after the births of four foals.... boys if Chandra's guesses were correct... to the choas of some creature appearing, the aggressive whinny of Balrog as he reared and prepared for attack. For a moment Crown's eyes were glued to the stallion.... he was.... HUGE! Maion huge! The way the guys muscles rippled beneath his pelt spoke of untapped power and strength, something Crown was sourly missing. In comparison he looked like a branch to an Oak.

Shaking those thoughts away his eyes sought out Chandra, she was his duty. His training as a Miakoda herd protector had never had him face real danger, not because it had not been present but because it seemed he had a talent for missing it. He had not been on duty when Haki was attacked, hadn't be born when Kimi had attacked the first time, and had been too young to help Maion when those Kalona's kidnapped him. But this time he was in the thick of it, he couldn't afford to hesitate or mess up. As he watched Chandra he saw a steel determination mixed with fear, he couldn't blame her, knew how she felt about all forms of violence and fighting.... it often surprised Crown that she even allowed Sonnet to train and take his share of the duties among the herd. Shaking his head, his usually bouncy mane currently clinging to the back of his neck due to the rain, focus was needed. Chandra seemed to be covering the baskets and watching the exhausted mare.... so he would do his best to keep anything from getting near her.

A snap of wings. A jump and a glide. He was beside them, the distance closed even as his nose wrinkled a little from the strong scent of blood that filled the air. He looked to Chandra, looked to Balrog and the fight. "I'll protect you." He found himself saying, though the target of his words wasn't clear from his near distant voice. Heart racing in his chest. Legs itchy to move and put to use his training... he waited... sure that he would soon get his wish.

She watched, unmoving for a moment as the creatures burst out of hiding: it was exactly like it was before. She would have to ride this powerful nightmare out - reliving it as she would watch helplessly as the skinwalker and her mutant minion carried off with the bloody remains of her baskets..

...but her ears swiveled up when she heard the powerful cry of her mate. That wasn't right...last time Balrog hadn't been there. Even through the thick haze of her medicated state, his voice as enough to cut through - this wasn't a dream or a hallucination! It was happening again. White-hot rage whipped through her veins, turning her blood to ice as she mustered all the strength she could muster and heaved herself to her feet. Slowly, like a newborn foal, the mother mare got to all fours, her limbs shaking violently under her. "Not again," she growled through her gritted teeth.

She wasn't looking for a full-on fight in her condition, but just enough of a distraction while she carried off her quarry. She ran with as much gusto as she could, her swollen belly and tender paws not as effective as she was used to, and she growled with herself in frustration. Before she could get to her prize, Chandra nearly threw herself down, her quartet of wings blanketing over the precious baskets.

It was like hitting an invisible wall. Confused and furious, Kumiho stopped suddenly a few strides away. She backed up a few paces, gathering herself before planting all four paws in the ground and hissing like a demonic, terrifying beast. All of her tails stood at attention behind her, trying to make herself look more massive than she was. "Cerberus!" she commanded. "Kill her!"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It had been years since Balrog had been in battle. And the last time, he had held back - it was his son who had returned to try to make a claim on land that he had been cast out from. But this, there was no holding back against this monster. Quite the opposite: at Stormwild's cry, Balrog KNEW, deep in his bones, that these creatures were the ones responsible for the murder of his newborn foals those years ago. He was rage incarnate. The massive wind stallion - tempered by experience and daily conditioning was a thing to behold when he drew himself up, snapped his wings out to their full length and pummeled into the flanks of the mangy beast with his forehooves with a trumpet of anger and hatred.

He was only partially aware of Crown's presence as he joined him by his side. He was only partially aware of the shadow above that had been keeping watch called out in a voice that was echoed by true thunder as he began a fast descent.

And he was only partially aware that his mate, Stormwild, was rising to her feet in such a weakened state.

He only had eyes for the black monster that DARED attack his family - again - on HIS turf.

Cerberus clashed with the stallion - who seemed even more massive up close than he had at a distance. For a brief instant, Cerberus balked. The stallion was enormous and built like a wall. His hooves were heavy and hard - much harder than his soft paws, and the first blow that landed on his shoulder hit with crippling force. Cerberus snarled. Intimidation was out the window. Now, he had to fight.

He had just reared up, meeting the stallion face to face (or, more accurately, face to corded neck thanks to the height differential) - but his neck was precisely where he wanted to be, and was lunging forward, teeth snapping around his throat and trying to sink in when his mistress's voice reached his ears.

If nothing else, Cerberus was obedient. And more nimble than the massive stallion. He vaulted backwards, leaving - much shallower than he would have liked - punctures in the stallion's throat, and redirected, surging instead towards the mare with too many wings.

Chandra kept her position over the baskets even as she saw Stormwild get to her hooves. "Stormwild.... you... you need to rest...." It was hard to say that, especially considering why the mare had risen... they were under attack. She was sure that even she would have rose in an effort to do something.... anything. Right now though, there was nothing she could do other than try and protect the baskets....

She was distracted watching Stormwild that she didn't see the skinwalker approach until it was too late. The screeched 'Kill her' startled her, had her wanting to retreat, if it had not been for the four baskets below her wings.... she may very have bolted. Except then she remembered something her father had said. 'Strength comes in numbers my daughter, and bravery is not something you simply have... it is the strength to stand despite your fear. Fight for what you believe in my dear, and you will never regret a thing.' That seemed so fitting now, she believed in life, believed in defending those that could not defend themselves.... these baskets. She would not abandon them easily. Eyes focused, horn lowered and legs shifted incase she needed to strike... she was ready. "I will not let you have them...." She said, the words a promise, a wisp of hope.

Crown was about to attack the shadowed beast who had a grip upon Balrog, about to act... when two things happened. An order was given and the beast pulled back to follow it. With a turn he looked to the two mares... which was the kill order on? He couldn't live with himself if either were lost.... but his mission was defend Chandra. With that in mind he kicked off with his rear legs, putting the powerful muscles from all that running around the lake in training to good use. Firing forward like a bullet... his target in sight... the shadow creature... he flashed his vampiric fangs, a memento from his mother.... he would use them and his hooves if needed!

Everything seemed to move in slow motion. He saw Chandra in the corner of his eyes. Saw the shadow creature aiming for her. Saw himself rearing up and ready to slam his hooves into the shadow creature before he reached his target.

Chandra's voice was distant and foggy in her ears, and though she knew the kind midwife meant well, she was crazy to think she would stand idly by while this creature threatened her family. She would rather die trying to protect the baskets then risk any harm to them. In her medicated state Stormwild didn't quite comprehend why the skinwalker seemed to be recoiling from a direct attack on Chanda, but she didn't hesitate to use her momentary hesitation to rush forward and attack. She threw her weight against the skinwalker and went toppling with her to the ground.

Everything was happening so fast, but Kumiho was snarled in approval as Cerberus made an about-face and focused his attention on the Angeni guarding the baskets. But the feeling of satisfaction lasted only a moment before Stormwild in a surprising show of force, body-slammed her; toppling them both to the ground. The elder mare was larger in size and mass than the skinwalker and Kumiho roared in pain as she landing hard on her hip and her swollen stomach knotted up in pain. The newly birthed mother fell on top of her; too weak to give a proper fight, and Kumiho intended to make her pay. She flailed under the mare: slashing with her claws and landing a good bite on the side of Stormwild's broad neck.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Balrog could feel his heart pounding manically in his chest as the monster latched onto his throat. For a brief instant, true fear flooded the elder stallion. His eyes widened and his pupils contracted to points. What if he died here? It had never even been a consideration to the overconfident stallion. What if he died before ever seeing his foals - his sons. Never get the chance to make up for how his other sons had turned out in the past - Firestorm, and the others whose names he hardly let cross his mind - those that had taken up with lessers. No longer his sons. If he fell, what would become of the herd? Stormwild? Would would be the point of all this that he had built towards. Was he wrong about their strength? He had never known a flying predator like this - he had heard whispered stories of the kalona, even seen the monstrosities that Firestorm had whelped - but they were not like this - gifted - like he - with the wings of eagles - but twisted, wrong. It was a mockery of all he stood for.

And then, suddenly, reality came crashing back down upon him as the beast released his hold and turned away from him. He didn't hear the command. And renewed - fighting for his family, for his FUTURE, Balrog stormed after the shape. Did he think that he had lost the fight already? He would show him just how wrong he was.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Like an obedient dog, Cerberus flew towards Chandra, redirecting his teeth and claws towards the angeni mare. Despite his appearances, he was no skinwalker, and the holy aura of the mare didn't seem to have the effect it did on Kumiho. At her tremelous warning, Cerberus barked a laugh and sprung - with a last minute redirection from the side to try to avoid her horn and go for her throat.

His teeth were just about to snap when he was forefully and painfully knocked off target by a striking blow of hooves of the mare's protector. Instead, Cerberus's teeth latched onto a winglet that sprouted from behind her ear. His mouth was full of feathers - not flesh and blood, but he clamped down hard nonetheless until he heard a crunch. Eyes opening in his flank and glaring daggers at the stallion that had struck him.

A hind leg lashed out like a horse's kick towards Crown - but it was tipped with fleshy paws - claw-tipped, granted, but not with the same force as a typical stallion's hooves.

A piercing whinny split the air as Thunderbird spied the havoc that had unleashed in a mere moments in the glade below him. Guilt struck almost as heavy a blow as the fear for his parents' and newborn siblings. Balrog had trusted HIM to keep watch, and here - not just one but TWO had slipped through his watch and the worst possible case was underway.

He angled downwards and pulled his wings in close for a dive, front hooves out and directing himself for what he saw as the primary threat to his family - the mare with the mass of tails behind her. And around them, the storm suddenly worsened with Thunderbird's panic, the angeni's magic - still wild and without the finesse that came with age and practice. But with a connection born of fear and anger, there was a sudden flash of light and nearly immediately after a clash of thunder that split the skies in a thunderous bang as a bolt of lightning struck not a foot from Kumiho's head.

As the beast reared towards her Chandra could think or do nothing more than watch, her determination not to move, not to leave the baskets vulnerable (especially after all the effort Stormwild was putting in despite her condition). It was the least Chandra could do. Even as she stood her ground she thought of Sonnet. Thought of her mate and their family. Would she ever get to see them again? Her eyes almost closed, she almost resided herself to her fate, when she heard the familiar cry of Crown.

After that everything happened so fast.
A smash of hooves.
A flash of fangs.
Angry cries.
...and suddenly... pain! LOTS of pain. Unable to stop the reaction she screamed, a sound fearful and desperate. To her great dismay she head a snap. Agony ringing through her head wing, and she was pretty sure she couldn't wiggle it anymore. Her breath was laboured. Her heart beating so fast in her chest that she was sure it would escape her chest at any moment. He was going to pull it off.. she just knew it... he was going to rip it from her head! She whimpered, even as her wings clamped down, her muscles acting on their own as she thought the agony that waved through her. Of all the things to grab and break...

Chandra wasn't aware of much after that, she saw a flicker of blue and green, a strike of black moving towards it. Somewhere in her mind she registered that it was Crown... Crown and the beast. But it didn't come forth in words, didn't sprout forth as much of anything.

Baskets. Her mind whispered. Protect.... baskets....

User Image

Too slow! He could see it before it happened. He was too slow.

And sure enough the beast managed to get its fangs into Chandra even as Crown struck him. It wasn't good enough. Over and over again he chastised himself, Sonnet was going to flip him a new one at letting Chandra get hurt, worst still he felt as if he had let everyone down... not just Sonnet. Worst still... Maion! What would her father say! Crown had always had a soft spot for the Elder, and hated the idea that he would hate him for this... but how could he not?

Distracted with thoughts of Chandra he never saw the clawed paw come, taking him by surprise he hissed as the claws peeled away flesh from his chest. His eyes darted from Chandra and over the beasts back. Winded from the impact to his rib cage he staggered backwards a little. Breath panting as he tried to figure out what he should do, to compose himself and to try not think about the blood slowly dripping from his chest... he wouldn't look at it... not yet. Chandra needed him.

Sympathy for Chandra's head wing had his own lowering. If the beast could bite Chandra's wings... then Crown could do the same... even ones that looked as if they would bite him back!

Reacting without further hesitation Crown threw himself forward, jaw open and ready to snap down, his fangs glistening menacing in the light. Vampire. The word whispered in his mind, he had always feared being so... of killing for the substance... he didn't want to become a monster!

"Mother!" Cataclysm's voice broke through the crowd as the struggle continued on. Over mountains that protected the nested little glen the attack was raging from, new figured emerged. The sounds of thunder had brought Cataclysm and some of the other batte-ready members of the herd over to the nesting area, and they balked at what they saw. As if Thunderbirds's clap of thunder was beckoning them to battle, the new faces steeled themselves and charged down the mountain, rapidly heading in to join in defending their land and new brethren.

Just as Kumiho thought she may be getting the upper hand the cry of even more herdmates and the shocking close bolt of lightning gave Kumiho her first wave of crushing self-doubt. The released Stormwild's throat to avoid the crash and sizzle, ans narrowly avoided being trapped under the large and muscular winged mare. She pushed her heavy, pregnant self to her feet and took a quick evaluation of the situation. At least two of those horrid four-winged beasts that she could go near: one who was seemed to be controlling the rage of the storm. Stormwild was fighting back more than she expected her to be; her mate had murder in his eyes. The green visitor was attacking with gusto, and at least three more allies would be joining withing minutes.

Her tails twisted behind her as a war raged in her head between her Skinwalker pride and her desire for self-preservation. All this was for the three parasites living in her belly already - even if they could win this battle in the end, it would all have been for naught if she damaged her passengers. With a roar of frustration and hatred she made her decision. "Cerberus!" she called, "We're going...leave it be," she hissed, and then turned and ran as fast as her paws would carry her towards the mountain pass.

Hot blood splashed into Crown's mouth as he bit down hard on Cerberus's wing.

A bite of pain lanced through Cerberus's wing as the green stallion revealed fangs in that mouth of his. Something Cerberus hadn't expected. Immediately, he dropped Chandra's head-wing and turned to face Crown, a snarl on his lips and a growl in his chest. The eerie eyes on his pelt swiveled to focus on him.

He beat his wings vigorously, trying to shake him off, lashing out with his front paws and putting up a vicious front.

But then everything was happening at once. A strike of lightning, the massive male was headed towards him, an attack from above, and he could hear other wingbeats on the air.

And then, the real deciding factor. Kumiho's hissing voice ordering the retreat.

Bitter, angry, hurt, but knowing he ad lost, Cerberus made an attempt to back away, trying to cover Kumiho's exit.

Balrog stomped, deliberately driving them back and away from the guests and his mate, but he did not intend on just letting them go. Once they were clear, he'd charge.

Even as Thunderbird flew towards the clearing, it was already begining to disperse - the herd had heard his battle rally and the forces were growing, Seeing the skinwalker back away, he adjusted his dive and drew it into a circle, the storm overhead churning and threatenin another strike. They could use his support from the air to make CERTAIN the predators didn't double back.

Instantanious relief washed over her as her head wing was released. Still Chandra was panting from the exertion of staying awake, the only thing really keeping her so was her will power and determination.... she couldn't give up when those around her weren't.

Her mind was reeling from her thoughts and efforts that she never heard the beat of wings coming down the mountain, nor did she hear the skinwalkers command to leave. All she heard and saw was the beating of her heart. At least until the shadow creature before her reacted. Her awareness snapped to attention as it fought out of Crown's grip to flee.

Even as Chandra watched the beast go she didn't move from the baskets, too fearful that this might be a trap, a lure to get her to give up her precious cargo.... she wouldn't be responsible for the baskets being captured. In that moment, as she realised she would sacrifice herself gladly for these baskets she found herself thinking of her father... this was the same reason her father had allowed the kalona's to capture him. Rather him than those he protected, and thanks to that act Crown and Eden had been allowed to escape as foals..... she understood now.

Eye's cautious and wary she looked over at Stormwild, the mare was looking a little worst for wear, but given she had just given birth and fought a skinwalker Chandra wasn't surprised. "Are you ok?" She asked the elder mare.

Crown didn't let go. Despite the beasts thrashing he kept his grip strong and true... or as strong and true as he could muster, it wasn't exactly easy when the thing you were trying to hold was moving as violently as this wing was. The blood, oh the blood, Crown nearly moaned in delight when it first hit his tongue... but he wouldn't give into the sensation, refused to swallow it as he allowed it to seep from his mouth and run down his jaw and neck. His personal battle came to an end when he heard an order barked towards them... 'Cerberus.... we're going... leave it be.', the Angeni blood within him released the beast when he tried to pull again to follow the skinwalker. Causing unnecessary harm was pointless, Maion had taught him that. And it was clear that this, Cerberus followed the skinwalkers command without question.... what a low and pathetic creature he was.

Flashing his fangs in warning Crown moved himself between Chandra and the beast, saying several little words before it retreated with his tail between his legs. "Get going little dog... your master has called."

As Crown stood he realised he had taken on several more wounds from the beast, in his attempt to keep hold the wing he had blocked out everything else, but as he stood there now he couldn't help but feel the throb of cuts and slices down his chest, legs and sides.... ouch... they were certainly going to sting in the morning!
