There was a pause as Xiu took in his words, and then she looked up at him contemplatively. "Are they private dreams, aniki? As in something that you don't think I should see?"
It was probably rather obvious where she was going with this. Maybe she couldn't control her own dreams for some reason...but she had had plenty of experience manipulating the dreams of others. Of course, these strange, unchangeable dreams could just be in a whole different category of their own. Maybe she was too weak to do anything about them...or maybe they were just unbreakable.
In either case, Xiu made a note to analyze her dreams a little more carefully if they happened again.

Shun paused and furrowed his brow, eyeing Xiu for a moment. Just what sort of dreams did she think he was talking about?
"I remain fully clothed, if that's what you're worried about," he said before letting out a breath. The Reaper shook his head again, then continued to walk on out the store so that they could start making their way home.
"But, I don't think there's a whole lot you can do of this."

Xiu threw her arms up in the air.
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT, ANIKI!" Cue the puffed out cheeks and lashing tail. "You got mad at me the first time I dived into one of your dreams, remember? Granted that was because I didn't ask, but that was the type of dream I meant when I asked whether it was private! Not...afdkjhkafhskdf!"
More pouting. However, after a minute or two passed, she was already over it. Emitting a resigned sigh, the baku shook her head. "Well...if you're sure. Truth be told, I'm not sure I would be able to do anything either." It bothered her to admit it, but it wasn't as if she was an expert on dreams--not even close.

Shun still eyed Xiu a moment or so, not entirely buying it right now. Shrugging, he went on and said, "Whether or not I wanted people to know has not stopped people from prying."
He gave her a peculiar glance at that. People generally weren't satisfied if he told them 'I'm fine' or anything like that. They went on and continued to try and figure out what was wrong with him. There were many things he felt were more or less private but it ended up getting out of him anyway.
"... Have you had these issues often?"

...Ah, he had a point there. Xiu blinked up at him before turning away, whistling innocently. She couldn't deny the fact that she had probably pried a fair deal of information from Shun before...but to be fair, at least she had done so out of concern rather than plain nosiness, right?
...Right?
Welp, time to change the subject.
"Ah--no. It's really quite rare, actually, though the night that I arrived back at Amityville after I sneaked away from home...I had a strange dream then."

The reaper looked at her with a faint curious glint in his eye.
"Oh?" he inquired, "What dream was that? If you don't mind sharing."
He wasn't sure when it was exactly that she had sneaked away from home, but prior to their invasion, he did recall a rather odd dream that was out of his control. Apparently others had experienced this dream as well, which made it all the more strange. Shun wondered if this was the one she was talking about, or if it was something else.

"Ah? No, I don't mind sharing. It was..."
She closed her eyes, brows knitting together as she tried to tried to call up the scene again. "There was...fighting? And then I remember seeing a glowing staff, but that faded out into the glowing, underground lake. There was also a voice, but...it's been a while, so I definitely can't remember what it said word for word anymore."
Pink eyes fluttering back up, Xiu sighed and ran a hand through her shoulder-length hair. "It was just...strange. It was like someone had implanted that dream in my head and ensured that I wouldn't be able to do anything about it until it ended."

It was as he suspected.
"I had that dream as well. And I believe others did too. That was no ordinary dream to say in the least.." Shun said quietly. His more recent nightmares, were more along the lines of normality... just.. rather powerful so he had no control over it whatsoever.
"I'm not quite sure what it meant. Perhaps it had something to do with what we were about to do. It happened the night before we invaded the island after all."

Wha--wait. Others had the same dream? "Ah--no wonder, then. I guess it really was someone trying to tell us something? But wow, to affect everyone's dreams like that..." Must have been pretty powerful, no?
"...Yes, that would made sense," The baku mused, nodding in agreement, "Though now I have to ask: has anything been going on with...well, all these...'groups' since I've been gone? I thought I heard something about Deth, but..."
Trailing off, the ghoul grimaced and shook her head. "I'd prefer to remain neutral in all of this though, truth be told."

"Deth has been a little more active, yes. There was a field trip recently to the human world that involved hugging them," he said, not sounding particularly thrilled about that. The Reaper just shook his head at some of the memories of that experience.
"On the other side... Medea has made an offering of power. I don't know exactly what that entails. Lizzy has practically forbade me from seeking her out."
Again, Shun was speaking with a flat tone.

H-hugging? Unable to help herself, the baku began to giggle, lifting her hand to clasp over her mouth. Well, Deth did support a peaceful co-existance with humans, didn't it? She supposed that the act of hugging humans, although odd, was rather obvious proof as to where Deth stood in this conflict. After a moment passed, something suddenly hit Xiu, and she looked up at Shun with wide eyes.
"Wait. Aniki...were you on this field trip?"
...Had Shun hugged humans?!
The amused smile faded from her lips at the mention of Medea's offer. Suddenly looking uncertain, the ghoul uncomfortably shifted from foot to foot. "I think...I stand with Lizzy on this one. Siding with the horsemen's extreme ways in general makes me a little..."

Shun twitched slightly.
"Mitsu wanted to go. I wasn't about to let her go alone," he said while putting his free hand into his pocket. Yes. He had gone. Though he hadn't exactly wanted to go. Shaking his head at that, he soon let out a breath regarding Medea and the like.
"Sometimes, extreme measures are what is needed."

Hugged.
Humans.
It took all of Xiu's effort not to collapse into giggles, but she turned away from the reaper so that he wouldn't be able to see her face. Waiting until she was composed, she turned to face him with a smile, but her cheeks were noticeably redder than before. "I see. That was good of you, aniki."
As for the comment about Medea's offer...the baku simply shook her head. "When it comes to things like this...I think I prefer to be neutral. Maybe I can't sit on the fence forever, but my loyalty right now is with Halloween and only Halloween."

Shun raised an eyebrow, wondering just what it was she was saying that was good of him for. Shaking his head, he shifted a bit regarding her views on things.
"There are merits to neutrality. As long as you know when it is time to make your move."
He couldn't help but think of Mot for the moment. The boy had stayed behind when they went to rescue the students from the hunter islands. And he was had also reprimanded for his own views in a way. Maybe not directly but the cowboy certainly hadn't been approving of the way he dealt with things.

Xiu grimaced a little, lifting her free hand to cup her cheek as she considered his words. Well, there was definitely truth to what he said. It wasn't as if she could be neutral forever--after all, a lot of what was happening affected her just as much as it affected some of the other students. At some point, she would have to get off that fence and choose a side.
"...I'll wait until the time is right," She answered solemnly, giving a small nod. Noting that they were nearing the school now, the baku looked up at Shun with a curious tilt of her head.
"I'll drop by to visit you and Mitsu sometime in the next few days! Are there any particular times that are more preferable, or...?"
