Juno replied only with a tired nod. Food sounded good and she never, ever intended to return to these lands. The further she could get away from them, the better. These lions ought to have followed, too. There was no good to be found here, not unless you wanted to become one of the Nergui. Though there was always the possibility that the southern lands would give her no place to hide in time...
The black lion, however, seemed distressed by the idea.
"My home is north." He replied. The outside world frightened him. He had lived his whole life as a hermit, hiding and skulking, having no one but himself to talk to - until Juno and the other Nergui had come hunting him. "Once Juno is safe I would want to go back."
"Don't be ridiculous." Juno argued. "The Nergui would capture you if you ever returned."
"Nergui might not always be there..." The black lion argued weakly. He liked the peace and quiet. Surely there would not always be danger in the north. But, at Juno's look, he gave a begrudging nod. There had to be another way to get home without crossing the desert...if there was, he'd find a way.
"Thank you." Juno said, still not quite believing that the lions hadn't torn their throats out. "I will not be returning in this lifetime."

The dark lion's distress was plain to see, and while it might give her a pang, the new spymaster could not afford to be soft. She could imagine how it would feel to be exiled from your home, the home-sickness one would feel... but there was too much at stake to risk it.
"If you are truly what you claim to be, then I am sorry for such harsh measures, but you will understand that I have a pride to protect. The convenience of strangers comes second to the safety of my family. When the Nergui are no longer a threat, perhaps our borders will open to travelers once more and we will be able to give you safe passage. Until then... well, as she said, you're better off not traveling North anyway."
Morag gestured a couple of her watchers to come and spoke quietly to them, giving instructions on what to do with the tired, dirty rogues. Escort, as quickly and quietly as possible, around their borders and release to the south. She lowered her voice when she gave the order to tail them for a day or two in secret, until they were sure they weren't circling back and were continuing south.
Turning back to their 'captives', she nodded to them. "Safe travels. My watchers will escort you out of our lands. As long as you behave, you'll see no more of us." She would remain sitting where she was until they were well on their way before she would rise and head north to check up on the watchers who had headed back along the intruder's trail. Morag had things to think over. More pieces to the puzzle, more answers that just generated more questions...
