Cosine laughed and turned to continue down the hallway. Really, mortals were funny things.
"You are a being of logic Xander, I can understand your skepticism."

The goddess paused by the two doors, both different, yet they led to the same place.
"It does seem farfetched, a pantheon of gods that wander around interacting with mortals. I can explain further, though I think we should take the mind blowing one step at a time." Cosine pushed her door open and walked into the spacious hallway of her home. "Come on in."

This hallway was strange. As much as he squinted, he could not seem to make out the end of it. It simply seemed to stretch on and on and on and on... Like it had no true end at all.

But that was impossible, right ? Buildings did not do that.

The doors were also strange - all different and marked. The door they stopped before he recognized as a Fibonacci Spiral, and he had been busy studying it before he was invited inside.

So he followed. He had certainly came too far now to turn away, even if he was very clearly puzzled.

If he thought that the hall of doors was strange then he would definitely be confused by the suite of rooms that lay beyond the entrance hall.
Cosine opened another door and stepped into the large glass ceilinged atrium.
"Well, this is home." She looked around, it seemed rather quiet. "Hello?" She called out to no one in particular.

Yeah, the inside certainly did not help Xander understand anything at all. Green eyes went wide. W-What the hell ? The space in between doors just didn't...

What...

Yes, there was a very confused mortal on Cosine's hands.

And it was bound to get worse, given the voice that answered here. "Over here." Came a male voice from down the hall. "I have a bit of a problem."

Well, no, not really a problem in the worrying sense of the word - just three asleep children that apparently had determined that daddy was not going anywhere anytime soon.

Cosine grinned at the sound of the male voice and started off down the hall.
"I've got some company." She paused as she spotted what the problem was and laughed. That was just too adorable. "You seem comfy enough to me."

...What the hell was that.

Really. Cosine looked... okay, a little strange, but normal for the most part. But this... man ?

Was, uh.

He had no damn idea.

Good think he hadn't even noticed Kyrie yet.

"What the ******** ?"

And that was the sound of Xander's brain to mouth filter just failing.

"There are certainly worse problems." Caelia was nomming on one wing, but he certainly was used to this by now. Daddy was also a chewtoy and all that.

But then, there was Xander's amazing outburst, which could have not ended well if Ankou had not been used to this by now. See, there was a reason he was good at shapeshifting for.

"You know, one could ask the same of you." He was definitively amused, through. "Im just going to gather he did not expect me ?"

Amusing, really.

Cosine laughed at Xander's reaction and bent down to ease a sleepy Cae up and into her arms. The little goddess' head lolled on her shoulder.
"Well, technically he doesn't believe in us so are you really here?" She raised an eyebrow and rested her cheek against her daughter's.

Xander, Izzy this is my husband, to choose a mortal convention. Ankou, the spirit guide. Our children. Caelia goddess of Augury, Kyrie goddes of crows and Isidore god of funeral."

Wait did that one have a crow's head.

Wait.

What ?

Seriously ?

"Uh. Okay. Hi."

"Rather pleased to meet you." Izzy at least was not stuck in an endless loop.

"Hmm. Don't know." He poked at himself absent-mindedly. "Looks like I am here now. Cannot promise if I will still be here in five minutes, through."

Cosine would probably get the joke. but he had the sense that if they laid it anymore thickly than this, they would need to scape this Xander's brain from the ceiling.

With Caelia off him, it was easier to relocate Isidore and Kyrie in such a way that he would be able to sit, at least. "They played themselves out and apparently going back to their rooms would have been too hard." The three of them were out like little lights.

"Any perticular reason you are trying to blow his mind ?" He teased.

Cosine laughed at Ankou's joke and leaned over to press a kiss to his cold forehead.
"I'm not trying to do anything." Her tone was amused, she had never met a mortal so determined to not believe before. Cosine turned to set Cae down on another sofa and brushed her fingers across the child's cheek.

"Xander's satellite has landed here, crash landed perhaps. I offered them shelter here where it is safe. He and Izzy may be able to help me get my computer programme up and running. In return for me aiding them."

She turned back to Xander.
"Ankou knows many worlds, he may be able to help you locate yours."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 19, 2012 1:31 pm

"Well, look at it this way - at least then he is not going to believe everything that he hears." Ankou had a bit of a strong spot for willful mortals, the ones with strong personalities. Like Hrist had been before being awakened, and like Ravenna. It was the kind of mortals he needed - the kind that could keep things going during his often long absences.

"Oh, and I have to help now ?" He said, amused. Now he could stand and carefully let Isidore and Kyrie down - none of the children even so much as stirred as they had been relocated.

Knowing many worlds was putting it lightly... He had helped map the world tree, after all, and had long ago commuted that map to memory, and sought the name of as many worlds as he could. "Tell me where you are from, and I will see if I know anything."

...s**t, it was even worse when the... god was standing. All those wings, the constant streaks of blue flashing through dark feather, and that gaze... That gaze felt downright piercing. "Ah... Im from Zelan."

"Zelan..." Zelan... At first he said nothing, clearly thinking.

And then it occurred to him.

Zelan. Zelan had been one of the worlds that... Any good humor that was on his features vanished in an instant, and that was probably clue enough. "...Ah."

There was probably no good way to put this.

Cosine watched Ankou's features closely as he tried to locate the world in his memory. When she saw his features change she knew it was the worst. She could read Ankou like a book.

Cosine breathed in and moved to stand next to the mortal, reaching out to place her hand gently on his arm. There was going to be no easy way to let him know the truth, no way at all.

Xander also had caught the shift in expression, and he frowned in turn. That... was never a good thing. Through could he really know it like that ? Seriously ? What was this dude was, a walking world encyclopedia ?

"Well ? Shoot." He could take it.

Famous last words, as they said.

No, there was no possible nice way to put this. None at all. Ankou was not exactly pleased to be the bringer of bad news, but the mortal might as well know. Better now than seeing it for himself.. He figured. After the mourning had been done, then this Xander could rebuild.

"At one point during the worst of the incidents." Ankou was pretty certain that the pink-haired man would not know what Gehenna had been. "One plane - hell - crashed down on this plane of existence. At some places the planes melded evenly, causing little initial damage." The demons themselves had certainly been quick to make up for that, through. "In other places... not so much. Some worlds were... erased completely."

Sadly, Xander was a smart man. He knew exactly what the pale god was getting it, and his fists clenched.

No. That had to be a mistake. That had to be a lie. Zelan was not gone and he could find it and he would find it and...

"Then what knocked us from orbit..." Isabella, on the other hand, was not hindered by feelings. The computer's voice was sharp in his mind.

"...Was Zelan's destruction."

He could not deny that.

He could not deny it. And that was the worst thing.

And Xander did the only thing he could think of.

He ran, straight out the door.

...This could have been worse, Ankou figured. He sighed. Of course, he had not been stupid enough to think the mortal would take that well.

He also was not stupid enough to run after Xander, no. He would only make things worse, and he knew that.
