Calliope looked from the lake and down at her paw, having sensed something n it before looking back at the dragon "I really don't know how to look after kids either, Oliver is a perma kit but he is so mature for his age for being one for so long that he actually can take care of himself and if he needs help he has the two celestials to help if my mother or father can't, not that we, his siblings, won't help if we REALLY need to but Thane and Sayako or my parents are the one who helps him out when he needs it that us siblings of his are pretty much just friends with him more then authority figures. If it wasn't for my mother going on and on when I was a child and did pick stuff up here and there I wouldn't know what to do either but don't worry, it isn't too hard though granted I have never actually taken care of a cub before unlike my mother but meh, can't be that hard right?" She asked rhetorically as she laid down.
Calliope looked up and raised an eye at him "wait, we are friends? Since when?" She asked curiously "I mean, all we technically are is mere acquaintances more then friends, I mean, this isn't exactly friendship banter, it is more you wanting to have the thrill of annoying the hell out of me whilst I just want you to drop dead, how is this friendship material?" She asked as she got up and dived into the lake, the water was just far too tempting to ignore anymore.
After swimming around for a few moments she climbed out and moved a distance away from the dragon and shook herself, feeling more like her old self even if she had been woken up moments earlier "don't get me wrong, I apologise for being cruel and hurting you but really, friendship isn't what we have, not that one day I don't think we might become friends but right now, as harsh as it is we are not, you still need to stop being such an annoyance before that happens and give me more of this" she said gesturing towards him and how he was tonight. "Maybe we will get there" she said as she smiled softly at him "though, I must say, the while cub thing is a good start" she said as she sat down closer to him again as the last second to last bit rang in her head and made her sigh "but that goes both ways, I don't mind being a friend if, like I said, you cut out the annoying habits you have, I am sorry I hurt you but how do you think it is for me when all you do is piss me off? When I want to be left alone I want to be left alone, you don't just carry on and do what you do, it might not hurt me but it does make me wish I could hurt you to the extent where you will be forced to leave me alone for a while, I don't like hurting others but really you don't leave me much choice in thinking these things" she said, having wanted to be friends with this guy for a while, if anything, they both needed each other friendship wise but he just makes it so damn hard that she doesn't want anything to do with him.

Dach laughed softly when she moved away from him to dive into the lake, but there was no humor in it. Maybe sometimes they were just playing back and forth, like he used to with his mom or his girl, And maybe he took it too far for fun most of the time. For her, at least, for them. They weren't like him, it wasn't their way. There wasn't anyone out here who was like him... and after heading back those months ago with Calliope he wasn't sure there would have been any understanding for him back there even if he'd been inclined to go back to that life. If they didn't just shoot him. So... what? He had to figure out how to be an entirely different person?
She obviously didn't know he considered her a friend. Or the lengths he actually would have gone to in order to help her if she'd asked it of him. Maybe he should have made sure she was aware of that fact... a long time ago? Oh damn it all, this socially acceptable crap was hard. He was feral, for crying out loud, teacups and polite conversations weren't his thing. Nothing had made sense ever since he started trying to figure out how to fit in with Calliope and her family, and it was easier to just go back to being an a** than to flounder when they did something he didn't know how to respond to.
He collapsed sideways, much like a falling tree, and hit the ground heavily with no attempt to alleviate the impact. "I miss my mom." She had a knack for dealing with things like this, or so it had always seemed to him when he was little. "Look, if someone tried to hurt you, I'd protect you. If you want my help, just ask me. Hell, I wouldn't like it, but if you really wanted to I'd sit here and let you tie little pink ribbons all over me. But I don't know how to just... be like you." He paused, and lifted his head to look over his shoulder at her. "It's harder to figure out than it sounds, believe me."

"I hope you are not expecting me to be some sort of surrogate mother, I barely can take care of myself let alone anyone else and especially one who IS old enough to take care of himself" she said, having a slight feeling he wasn't but that was said before she properly thought about what he said "and that means, I guess you do concider me as a friend, at least that is something, please just lay off the annoyingness you do, it would help greatly" she said as she smiled at him a little "I just want you polite, respectable and civil, you know, like a normal kitsu, it isn't hard to do, you surely must know manners, use them and be less annoying and you will be fine. As for being like me you don't NEED to be like me just be normal, it would work out a lot better and not everyone will want to wish harm upon you" she said said as she giggles at the thought of him in pink ribbons as she got up "and you would actually let me tie pink ribbons in hair? Well, I am going to have to keep that as something to do on a rainy day if I am bored" she smirked a little as she got up and walked over to him and licked his cheek. "It is also a good thing you are cute" she said as she gestured back to the cave "come, lets head back" she said as she turned to start slowly walking back, yes she thought he was cute, nothing in it but it she just thought that a compliment here or there might be nice for the dragon, boost his self esteem and the like and maybe be less annoying towards her if she showed kindness and all that stuff.

He'd meant "being normal" as she put it when he'd been talking about being like her, but he just kept his mouth shut on that subject. He snorted about the surrogate mother part, however. "I said my mom, you two aren't exactly cut from the same cloth, Miss Diviner." He couldn't help a grimace over her glee about the thought of tying ribbons on him. "You can. If they don't clash with my fur. And I'm not promising I won't snap at anyone else who tries it, so keep that in mind before inviting anyone else to join in."
He froze for a second when she licked his cheek and told him he was cute. That made him feel kind of... funny. He wasn't entirely unfamiliar with what sort of funny it was, either, and he didn't know how to feel about that. Somehow calling her on thinking he was cute didn't seem like the thing to do if he didn't want to piss her off again, either. So he went ahead and stumbled to his feet after a moment and followed her back. "I... err... yeah. Shouldn't stay too long, right?"

Calliope tuned her head around and smirked at him "Oh come on! I want to invite all my girlfriends around, have a slumber party and just make you totally pretty! I could even pull out a mud mask, get those pores of yours to start breathing again!" She said as she turned back to face the front "and stay as long as you want, my mother won't mind I'm sure, everyone else seems to be up and who knows when they will go to sleep, if we are up you might as well stay here and have the company" she said, wondering if her mother has anything to eat besides that piece of cake and lunch time was a long time ago so she was starving.

"You pull out so much as a mud pie and you're going to have to fish me out of the lake yourself, lady." He stuck his nose up in the air at the idea. It was a wonder he didn't trip over something when he did things like that. He brought his head back down and frowned a bit at that next part. "I'm more used to being on my own..." he muttered, half to himself. "I just don't wanna leave the little guy." His ears flicked at a noise and he gave her a scrutinizing look. "Wait a minute, was that your stomach growling?"

The female blushed slightly but shrugged it off and nodded 'yes, but I haven't eaten since lunch, I just came home and went straight to bed" she said as as she rolled her eyes "then don't leave him, will having our company REALLY be that bad?" She asked, staying just a while longer wouldn't kill him right?

"Your company... bad? What? I didn't say that!" He sat again and smacked his face with a paw. "I'm just not used to being around a lot of people like that. And I don't want to ditch the little guy. That's all." He sighed and looked out over the water again. "You go ahead, I'll be back in a couple of minutes." He dove into the water without another word and no time for her to do more than start to object. He was going to surprise her, damn indeedy do.

((You do know she probably has left over roast lamb or chicken or pork or something back at her mothers place right? But don't worry, I can let her remain hungry. XD))
Calliope was about to say something when the dragon took off, she sighed and wandered into the cave and laid down next to the cub again and nuzzled him gently so as to not wake him.
"Where's that dragon?" Odessa asked curiously.
"Said he would be back soon" she said softly yawning, starting o feel a little tired herself "maybe she should just go home, let them take care of it and she just go back to her own bed, she just didn't know how much longer she could keep her eyes open.

((Dach isn't thinking about that, of course. He's used to feeding himself, after all. If she doesn't want the fish he'll probably let that horrible human take it home to do something with. razz Or eat it himself. I think he just feels a slight obligation to help provide for her since 1) she's going to let him stay there with the cub, at least for a while and 2) she seems to run herself a little ragged a bit more often than he likes. lawl))
Dach resurfaced some minutes later with a fairly impressive fish in tow. After pacing well from the water's edge he paused to give himself a very good shake. Didn't want to drip everywhere and get yelled at, he'd actually managed to go for most of the evening without being chewed out and he wasn't in the mood to start it up now. He then proceeded to the cave, walked over and set the fish down next to Calliope, took a few steps back, and sat down. Suddenly feeling like everyone was staring at him, he mumbled, "So... um... you said you were hungry..."

((LOL oh well then that makes sense, though if he REALLY wants to see her run ragged he should see her when Oliver goes off on random 'adventures', THAT is when her scrying is a tad iffy and ends up being sent on wild goose chases....she never has properly learnt how to do that. XD; ))
Calliope looked up and smiled softly and tiredly at him "thank you" she said taking the fish and placing it down beside her, cutting it in half and making room beside him and the cub as best as she could and offered the other the other half "the least you can do is help me eat it, I don't think I will be needing this much" she said as she pushed his half over to him.

"Oh. Well, if you insist." He could certainly use a bite after all of this... and some sleep. But were they staying here for the night? He honestly had no idea, he was just kind of taking things as they came at him right now. So he made quick work of the fish and after cleaning up he peered around. "Were we hanging out here tonight?"

"Sleep over!!" Oliver called out as had woken up from half dozing off "we have the food! We have the entertainment...sorta" he said gesturing towards the cub "and theres enouh kitsu here for one so..."
Calliope finished off her fish and looked at her brother "umm Oliver, I don't think making this situation into a sleep over is a good idea, and besides that he might have stuff to do...get...whatever..." she said, mostly because she didn't want to spend the night with the dragon more then she had to, not that she didn't want to keep this new friendship from dissolving or anything just that she was going to share her cave with him for the next however long and as much as she wasn't minding that she would like one more night of 'freedom' before he moved in.

Stuff he might need to do, or to get? He supposed he should go through his things and make sure they were in order, and cleaned up... no telling when he'd have a chance to actually to go check on them after this. He didn't imagine he had whole lot he'd need to actually bring to Calliope's... trinkets, momentos, and things like that weren't necessary. It wasn't like he had any bedding down there or anything, it would have molded. But still... making sure he knew where everything was, so he could grab something later if it did come up, and so he could make sure it wasn't missing when he did find another place to actually move it to sounded like a good idea.
"I suppose I should..." he looked to the cub, a bit chagrined at the idea of leaving him. But he couldn't take the cub down there! "Er, I guess he was going to be here for the night anyway, is it all right if I go look after some things? I don't think it'll take me any longer than morning."

Oliver pouted a little "aww no sleep over!? No fair!" He said as he curled up and covered himself fully in the blanket.
Calliope looked at her brother and rolled her eyes and sighed "there will be other times, Oli" she said as she looked at the dragon "and that's fine, we will take good care of him and in the morning he might even be safe to move to mine and it will also give me time to clean up a bit and make room for you" she said said as she covered the cub up just a little bit more so he wasn't cold at all.
