"Good! Att'a boil," he encouraged with a wide grin and then waited patiently as he glanced up at his familiar giving her a bit of a wink, "Thinkin' goin' to the wánish to catch some kíyull," he muttered to his familiar, "think he's the fishin' kind?"

Endzela did her form of shrugging after gazing behind Mot, which means she turned her head to stare at Kettil and blinked slowly and then added a, "I don't know. He certainly doesn't seem to be a ghouly-boil if that is what you ask."

Kettil chuckled, "Fair 'nough."

When Mot seemed ready to go he grinned at his companion, "We're gonna go fishin', keep an eye out for some nice sticks cause buyin' a fishin' pole ain't the same as makin' yer own," he said cheerfully and then lead the way out of the dorms, "besides, why pay for what nature provides us with already, eh?"

Mot blinked slowly, coming out of his room with a look of uncertainty. "Fishing? I have never been fishing.." He had no issue with it at all. In fact it sounded nice. Simple. A day out that wasn't complex or demanding. The dark haired reaper followed Kettil out.

"Right.." He agreed softly, holding his arms loosely across his torso. "I don't know how to make a fishing pole.. but I do know how to carve wood." He even kept a small kit with him at all time, attached snugly in a satchel on his belt.

"First time for everything," he nodded sagely as he just led the way forward on out the door and into the bright day. Endzela kind of hunkered down and closed her eyes to take a small nap for the most part as her Reaper kept an eye out for a worthwhile 'base' for the fishing pole.

Kettil paused and stared at Mot now for a long moment, "Really?! That's pretty awesome! I never really had the chance to learn that," he seemed pretty impressed or perhaps he was easily impressed - still it was a genuine reaction. The boil cleared his throat a bit, "A..Anyways I got some line and a couple of hooks so we're all covered as far as that's concerned."

The Muut had managed to get them to a small patch of trees where he was now looking at the ground and even some of the branches for a good couple of fishing poles.

The day was a lot brighter than he thought it would be, his sensitive eyes sore from his crying squinting painfully. He should have brought his hat. Oh well.

Mot nodded shyly, not expecting that sort of reaction from Kettil regarding his hobby. He joined in the search of a good branch or two for their endeavor. He wasn't entirely sure what was good or not, so he picked up anything sturdy enough and showed it off to Kettil for approval.

When the stick in question was shown Kettil paused and stared at it thoughtfully, it looked sturdy but it also seemed flexible which made Kettil nod approvingly and give a thumbs up, "Good work! I think I found one to," he showed off the branch he had picked up from near a large old tree and then began to snap off a couple of the extra extending branches, "Think we're about set."

He almost asked about a good fishing spot but remembered, just barely, that Mot had never been so he managed to catch himself. (OuO;; )

"Let's find us some a place with some fish and good shade," he announced pleased with their parts for fishing rods and lead the way forward once more, "Fishin' is a real easy thing. Dunno if we'll catch anything but it is very relaxin'. Just watchin' the water and clearin' your head. It's good to fish with a buddy because sometimes it does get lonely."

With a sturdy branch good for fishing claimed, he searched with the other reaper for a shady spot near the water. It was quiet, simple. He let the soft light of the pumpkin sun fall on him and warm his pale skin, let the breeze flutter through his hair. He let himself forget about what happened at the portal with Medea.

He continued forward with the branch leaning on his shoulder. "Sounds like a plan.. I could use some relaxation."

"Do you fish often?"

As they strolled along he idly swished his branch about like a sword, but not too wildly it wouldn't do to hit his newfound friend. He nodded slightly, "Yeah, at least back home I did but around here I hadn't really even tried so hopefully we get somethin' good!" He seemed happy to chatter at Mot - he would probably talk enough for the both of them if allowed.

He walked along with Mot and something glimmering in the distance caught his attention and as they got closer a lake came into view. Kettil wasn't sure if it was a lake one commonly fished at but it didn't hurt to try - besides they were catch and release, "Okay! Time to put our fishin' rods together," he announced as he marched along toward a patch of grass under a large shady tree that also seemed close enough to the water. All else failing they could just use their hands to catch things, right?

Like real manly men.

Mot didn't mind the chatter at all. He himself wasn't in a talking mood. While Kettil brandished his stick like a sword, Mot took to dragging his along the path they took, rustling leaves and things as he did.

The spot they chose had Mot's approval. It looked shaded, secluded enough so there wasn't too much activity and noise to bother him. The grim dragged his feet and stick toward it, settling down on a soft spot of grass to start the construction of their fishing rods. "So...how..?" He asked, looking it over curiously.

Endzela took wing and found a nice comfy branch to settle on for now as Kettil moved and plopped near Mot as he dug about in his pouches after he set his chosen stick down near Mot, "Shave the excess stuff off the branches for us, how good at you at tyin' knots?" he asked as he pulled ball of string from one of his pouches as well as a small plastic bag of various shiny hooks. It was probably the only thing he actually purchased simply because he didn't know how to make the hooks himself.

He was starting to measure out the string for the appropriate lengths needed for their little fishing excursion, "Sometimes I am a bit jealous, all Endy has to do is swoop in and catch 'em in her claws."

"Fairly good." He answered lightly, getting out his wood carving kit so he could properly shave the branch. "I used to tie lassos a lot as a scareling."

And get into trouble for it. Apparently breaking mommy's things was not okay just because he was 'catching bad guys'. Mot looked up at Ende in the tree tops, smirking lightly at Kettil's observation. "She certainly has her advantages. Ask he nice and maybe she'll catch you some dinner." The reaper got out a utensil for shaving wood and got to work, getting rid of bumps and small twigs, taking away the bark.

Heimdal moved within Mot's pouch, poking his head out curiously. Everything smelled different. This wasn't Hel's room nor was it Mot's,

He uttered a short snort of amusement, "I never really tied lassos at least not til' we went to those islands for that one fieldtrip," Kettil said amiably, "It took me a couple of tries but I got it and then I lassoed me a couple of folks because it was part of the class I was in," he replied as he watched Mot a little as he got the branches whittled for their use.

"Basically," he said as he got a bit of the string and started to tie on the hooks, "we want to tie the non-hooked end to the stick, make sure it is secure and won't slide off," he explained, "otherwise the fish run off with string and the hook and we just stand there lookin' silly," he grinned cheerfully.

At the asking his familiar nice he glanced up at where she had gone to rest, "I am sure she would if I was starvin' an' disabled. She spent too much time around m'gran, Endy likes t'give me speeches about being self-reliant and stuff." He spared a glance over at the small poofy creature that decided to peek out greet the world.

"Got a partner, eh?" He laughed.

"Sounds like.. fun." Mot hadn't been on that trip, but he'd only ever heard the bad parts of it. Lassoing friends could be an enjoyable pass time if it were a game.

Mot nodded and did as Kettil did, tying the end of the string snugly on his branch. Mot got an idea. He carved a hook into the branch so the string wouldn't slide off, and instead get caught inside the hook. He retied it and admired his work.

Mot looked down at Heimdal and chuckled softly. "Yeah, I'm pet sitting. I don't need him getting up and eaten by anything out here so he stays in the pouch."

"Yeah, then before that we made jewelry, it was pretty nice," Kettil only carefully made sure not to talk about the 'bad parts' of the trip. There were good times for a while. He smiled a bit as he finished up the fishing rod project with Mot grinning at the ingenuity the other boil showed, "Hey! That's good thinkin'," he complimented cheerfully.

He started to shift into a more standing position after he was sure both rods were securely put together for the fun to commence, "Ah, well I'll help ya keep an eye on 'im while we're out here," he promised with a grin, "seein' as I dragged ya out in the first place."

Kettil took a few practice casts before looking over at Mot, "Since our fishin' gear is simple it means we gotta be more strategic about it since our lines don't really reel in like the other ones do, just kinda flick your wrist and extend your arm a bit to get the hook out into the water," he showed off the movements real quick. There was a pause he was forgetting something....

"Don't you need worms and such for bait?" Came a drowsy voice from the tree.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 12:48 pm

The jewelry. Right. Hel had made him a ring from that trip. The ring ended up starting one of many fights that night. Mot decided not to press into that any further, for fear of destroying what little peace he had made with himself today.

Mot nodded, finally letting Heimdal out of the pouch. The little rainbow poof yipped excitedly, pouncing out of his holding cell. His small furry form popcorn'd around in circles in the soft patch of grass. Sweet freedom!

Mot stood with Kettil, mimicking his actions so he would know what to do when and if he caught anything. ".....Ah.. Endezela is right." Mot said with a soft chuckle. "Empty hooks are not exactly appetizing bait."

Instead of feeling stupid Kettil just laughed, "Ya! You're right," he chuckled shaking his head, "well what matters is we got the movement down, you learn quick!" he complimented cheerfully. The Muut was always glad to teach people new things even if his knowledge of the world around him might be a bit lacking at times but providing someone is around to fill the gaps for him then he would gleefully fill the gaps for others.

Kettil moved and set his pole by the tree and then wandered a bit toward the shore in the muddier part of the land, "Worms like moisture so maybe we'll find a nice batch here," he said thoughtfully as he got his hand dirty without hesitation.

Besides playing in mud is fun. WOO!
