"Also, Joker, you really expected Ledger's interpretation to go for the more happy-go-lucky crazy Joker that's occasionally seen in the comics? Not on Nolan's watch, for the same reason we don't see people like Freeze or Poison Ivy in the Nolanverse; it's not realistic enough for that universe and it's just not a part of that Joker's schtick. Of course, that's not to say that Ledger's Joker interpretation is any less valid than, say, Nicholson's. That's the beauty of having such a complex character, I think; you can have him portrayed in various ways and each can still be considered 'correct'."
