"Okay." That seemed fair. They had been out a while and someone was bound to come looking for her at some point. The first place she went when she climbed down from Xun's back was the river. She settled herself on the edge and ran her fingers over the surface of the water, disturbing a few of the fish that lingered nearby. She looked back over her shoulder, grinning and nodded in answer to his question. That would be fun!

In the meantime there was the matter of these interesting looking fish. She turned back to the water and continued to watch them. "Do you know what any of these are called?"

Xun Jiang rose when she had gotten off safely, and padded after her, peering into the river as well, head tilted to the side lightly.

"These are salmon." He was not sure the exact species, but. "They leave the ocean, returning to the place of their birth through rivers like these. They lay their eggs, and then swim back to the ocean where they live. They can swim very quickly, and jump up waterfalls, even."

Also delicious, but that was neither here or there.

<Oh.> Clever fish! How could they possibly remember where they were born though? She could not even remember that, but then again she did not remember a lot of things from a long time ago. The matron at the house she stayed sometimes said that was normal. The important bits stayed put while the rest was washed away.

Asedri reached over to touch the scales on one of his forelegs again while her other hand remained in the water. They almost felt the same. Strange. "Do all dragons feel like water?" She had no way of knowing that the trait was probably unique to Xun and so the question was asked. Curious mouse and all.

Her surprised look made him chuckle lightly. That was likely such a surprising revelation, for her at least.

"No, not all of them." Xun Jiang said with a nod. This was the first time anyone told him his scales felt like water... through that made sense. "I rule over the waters of the earth... like this river. My brothers rule over different things, and some are protectors." He wondered how Xia Lu Ling and Xuan Yi were doing now. The former was probably close to their Master as he always was, but he had not heard of the latter in such a long time...

Xun is for water, like Taj is for secrets. It made sense. He would no doubt notice the thoughtful expression and the nod when she seemed to have worked out something for herself. "How many brothers do you have?" It seemed the next logical question, since Lifewater had mentioned them. Hopefully he could think of something to distract her with once he got tired of the questions.

Curious mouse was very curious.

She seemed to understand, which was a good thing. He had not been sure how else to put it - it was hard for Ti Lung to explain himself as anything else but... himself.

"Eight brothers and one sister make up the Dragon Kings." He said with a nod. "I am Ti Lung, of earth and water." For now, Xun Jiang certainly had no problem with sating the little mouse's curiosity.

Blue eyes went a bit wide at his answer. That was a big family! Must have been a handful for their parents...if god dragons even had parents? None of the other gods she had met seemed to have parents after all, except maybe Akakios. The tiny blue haired goddess had been fussing over him like a parent might.

Ti Lung. That did not sound like any language she had ever heard before. She tried to sound out the words in her head and puzzle out their meaning. Coming up with nothing she decided it better just to ask. "Ti Lung? What does that mean?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 24, 2012 12:47 pm

Yes, it was starting to look like they were going to be here for awhile. The dragon laid down with that observation, front paws and tip of the tail curling to reach into the water. The tail, long and thick, curled up around the both of them as it reached out, giving the little mouse a place to sit if she wished. Spines were kept out of reach just for that purpose.

"It is simply another name." It likely did mean something... But as with anything else, he could not quite recall it. All that he could recall was the truth of it, resonating deep within him. "Like... Taj is Mystery. I am Ti Lung. Our domains are ourselves, our natures."

<Oh.> Asedri sat up, her attention was more on Xun than the river before them now. She fussed with her skirt a bit before leaning back against his tail. It had never occurred to her ten year old brain to think of it quite like that. She had reasoned that the gods were just as different from one another as ordinary people were. The fact that they each literally were what they represented explained a good deal. It seemed that Lifewater had given her something to think about and thus had gained a bit of a reprieve from her line of questioning.

Clearly this was something the young lady had not thought about - and really, why should she have ? That pensive expression was adorable, through. Had there not been a massive size difference, he might have been tempted to snuggle her.

A-do-rables.

The very tip of his tail wriggled back and forth, teasing the fishes as they swam by.

The Mouse pondered on what she had learned a while longer before looking over at Xun again. "We should probably go back." It had been a while and Saljin was bound to be looking for her by now. Hopefully he would not be too upset when she did finally get back.

"And my aoidei must be wondering where I went, too." He said with a chuckle, and moved first to stand, then to lay down again so Asedri could take place on his back once again. "I will do my best so that you do not end up in trouble, but I might not always be there to save the day like a vaillant knight." He let out a low rumble, resembling a chuckle. Dragon knight, indeed.
