Takoda posts in Green
Keilana posts in Brown
Jerarda posts in Purple

The first thing he noted was the change in climate, more often than not the shifters were suffering under the blazing sun due to their dark skin. The poor healer was finding that his water magic was being used to resupply the dwindling water supply rather than healing people but he supposed if he had to choose one or the other ...supplying water wasn't as bad as having to patch people up. Since that would mean a scuffle or fight would or broken out at this point.

Unfortunately the more he used his magic the more unsteady he became, it was still too new for him and thus tended to use up more of his energy than he would like. Not wanting to deny people water, he had to ask that water only be asked for at evening when the stopped to rest that way he wouldn't trip over his two feet when they walked during the day.

Slowly the world around them began to change, little things..the color of the grass, the scent on the wind....feet began to hurt when the softer sands of Tale were left for the hard pack ground of this new place. Takoda hadn't seen any signs of large bugs, though plenty of tiny ones were in abundance. At first it had him flinching at every flutter of wings in the air, but time managed to grind that reaction into a dull recognition, yes there were bugs...THOUSANDS of tiny irritating bugs that liked to fly in your face, into you hair and mouth never mind your nose. As they traveled the poor healer had given up trying to swat them away. Too much energy.

Looking at his fellow shifters, his gaze flickering past the alkidikes quickly before settling onto the Leaf tribe. He wondered..how their water supply was doing...perhaps this evening when they stopped to rest he could offer to resupply them...and the amazon women as well.

Walking...so much walking. Granted Keilana was use to moving around on foot, checking snares and traps she had set up meant she was moving a lot, and her stamina had been doing well until they had come to the hard ground of the newer lands, it was packed hard and it shot pains up her heel and calves with each step. Sighing in a dramatic fashion she looked to her brother, to Enki and Animah wondering of they were experiencing the same thing.

The leaf tribe girl didn't voice her complaint about the pain and she was studying the area around them looking for new sources of food, signs of animals critters anything that looked edible...food was always her top priority. Hunger wasn't exactly something she enjoyed to feel in the pit of her stomach, her brother and herself had encountered hunger too many times for her to risk it happening again.

The biggest part of her wanted to ask in the whiniest voice 'are we there yet??' but she knew better than to ask. When they got there...they would be told. Or so she hoped.

If there was one thing that you should never let Jerarda do, is become bored. The girl was walking behind Yansa, and a couple feet away from Phenyo, since meeting up again she had yet any chance to talk to her friend who was giving her the fuming silent treatment. Jera figured she knew what her friends 'problem' was, but in all honesty didn't quite understand why she was carrying on like this. So she left in a hurry...big whoop. So she didn't tell her she had intended on going on the venture...it had slipped her mind. All in all she was sure once they got a chance alone they would hash things out.

Given that she was not really on speaking terms with anyone else, since her appearance with Rishima, she generally stuck the mix breed close to her. Figuring that if someone tried to pull something or torment the poor 'girl' she would defend 'her'. After all she brought 'her' here and they brought the smoked fish everyone was eating, fish that RISHIMA caught though she often boasted about the huge fish they had caught the night before coming here...and each retelling of the tale had the fish getting bigger and bigger.

Jerarda had spent most of the travels boasting and telling tales of her prowess to Rishima and to anyone else who was willing to listen, granted these were stories she had often told before and thus their thrill value had depleted quick rapidly. After several days of traveling however even Jerarda seemed to have gotten tired of listening to herself and she trodded along in grim silence with everyone else.

Phenyo made it a point to stay as far away from Jerarda as possible without losing sight of her; after all, she insisted on keeping company with the half-breed, and that could lead to trouble if at any point Jera decided to open her mouth beyond sharing stories. There was a very, very large part of Phen that wanted to be right there as she related the tales, correcting her friend along the whole way as she usually did when details got unbelievable. She just couldn't, however, trust herself to not explode. There were many things keeping her distracted right now, which was good. It kept her mind from wandering to malicious thoughts of revenge for being forgotten.

Mostly, Phen gave herself the job of playing look out. The one eye that wasn't watching Jera would be trained on the Leaf Tribe and the Shifter people. Any time she caught sight of someone she recognized from their little...meeting...they would receive a respectful nod; after all, everyone was doing their part and no one was causing issues. This was how it should be.

When the land changed, for good and officially, Phenyo was awestruck. Briefly, she forgot all about the fact they'd been on the edge of war, forgot that this was a serious mission...and just stood at the base of one craggy structure, reaching to touch the rough rock with her fingers.

"This is...amazing," she spoke softly.

Chalcedony didn't know if he would ever come back to Tale again if it weren't for something like this where he'd gotten volunteered by his father or in a time when his people needed such volunteers. This place was... well it was hot, dry, oppressive, and various other adjectives that made him wonder how it was that the Leaf Tribe was able to survive here so long. It must come with year of experience and training he'd decided as each tiring hour had dragged on and on. He found himself sharing fruit with his people, as well as trading a bit of it with the other tribes for what supplies they had brought along. While he was a little leery of them he didn't mind exchanging food, especially for the fish that the halfbreed was carrying with him. He'd gotten some of that for Takoda, thinking that the protein would be good for his friend since he was being worked hard by those that needed water and poor Takoda... he seemed to be given the task of summoning water.

Chal had walked near to his friend, supporting him where he could, but from time to time found himself shoved out of the way by those seeking water from Takoda. It seemed that with his power came a bit of a hassle... and then there were the bugs. A lot different and more annoying then those back home, the sort that didn't leave no matter how much you swatted at them. He was certain the first time he saw a cloud of them that his friend was going to have a heard attack... and he wasn't too far off. Takoda seemed less then impressed by the horrible things. Just as Chal had done Takoda tried for a bit to wave them off but inevitably one had to give up. Waving at them all day only exhausted a person.

When they seemed to reach their destination he couldn't help but to find himself a little joyful, the edge of the place called 'Sauti' was so much nicer then Tale, nice and cool, even had a breeze. This place he could deal with far more then he could the savannahs of Tale, not that he would say as much out loud since he didn't want to insult the Leaf Tribe when they didn't seem to be half bad. He didn't really talk too much with any of them during the travels, instead wanting to stick with and look after his own, but they really seemed alright, didn't they? It was actually a lot more peaceful of a gathering even though he had thought the women of the Alkidike were going to throw things into disarray. He'd been wrong though. Thus far at least and he hoped against hope that things remained calm for the duration of the trip. Heading over to his friend he decided to check on him, wanting to make sure that he was doing alright as per what he'd been doing since the journey started.

Jacin was more then interested in the journey that he was on, taking in every inch of Tale that they covered, as well as all of the delicious beasts that they came across... they never got close enough for him to get a shot off though, there were so many of them that it was just... impossible. All the noise chased things off and he found himself more and more just wanting to sneak off to try to get some food for their group. It was something that he might have done if he trusted the entire group he was with, which he didn't, and if Keilana wasn't there since he wanted to keep her safe, which she was. Given no real chance to hunt he was stuck with what they could scrounge up which was mostly plants... something that the Leaf Tribe archer hated. Sure they were good for you, most of them didn't taste half bad, but they weren't meat! Meat was delicious, it kept you strong, kept you full, it was what he wanted. Perhaps once they got to where they were going.

As such he spent a good time walking alongside Keilana while watching Takoda, wanting to find a good reason to approach him but figured that, like hunting, would have to wait until they came to a stop. Deciding to at least entertain himself with his sister's whining him found himself answer 'Yes' every time that she asked 'are we there yet?' it was something, while amusing, got him kicked half the time and punched the other half. It was well worth it though, at least it allowed him to know that his sister remained in high spirits despite the march. Watching the others around them he realized that it was the Shifters that were having the worst problems, likely due their coloration during the day. He wished there was something they might do for them but... there just wasn't anything to do other then share with them what food that they found along the way. It wasn't as if they could do anything about the weather, it was always hot after all, or the fact that their skin darkened to such a degree during the day time. It likely made sense for them to do so when at home but here in Tale... it was just working against that poor tribe.

After a time the group finally came to a halt near to their destination and he couldn't help but to give an excited sound, "This is the ultimate of adventures." He said to his sister, "Just imagine what we might find in this place." Treasures they couldn't imagine or find in Tale or Jauhar, he couldn't wait to fill his pack with interesting things and if he were lucky fill his belly with whatever beasts roamed this place, "I am gonna see about hunting soon, you should come with me, Kei." He told her, giving his little sister a smile knowing she was always up for a good challenge.

*****

The entire trip seemed to be Jerarda trying to entertain their sisters with her stories, the one about the fishing getting more and more fantastic as she told it though it was something he'd found more then a little embarrassing. She really was a colorful storyteller, wasn't she? While it had been a rather bit fish, and had knocked him over in the water with it's flailing, it wasn't nearly the monster that she made it out to be a few tellings of the story later. Somehow each time she repeated the story the fish got bigger, more scary looking, he was actually waiting for a version where it had fangs and claws like those that Itzal had. She meant no harm though so he really didn't intervene other then to shyly say from time to time that it 'wasn't quite all that big' when asked about it but didn't deny catching the large fish by hand since it had happened that way.

After she grew bored with her fish stories it turned to her telling him of her own escapades, something that had him listening to each word with utter awe. She really was amazing, wasn't she? She really did have a lot of adventures, didn't she? Enough so that he felt that much more like a youngling in comparison, but it also gave him that much more to aspire to. Walking alongside her made him feel that much bigger and more amazing somehow, as though just being in her aura might make him so. It was a silly notion but one he couldn't quite push aside. After a time though it seemed that even Jerarda got a little worn down by the walk, something that had him so exhausted he wanted to keel over but he forced himself to keep going. If his sisters could keep walking so could he! If they could keep from falling face first into the hot sands of Tale then so could he! Of course he had to keep repeating that to himself like a mantra to keep from doing what he said he wouldn't do. If he wanted to become a true Alkidike he had to keep up, right? As exhausting as it was he meant to do just that.

While he got a feeling that there were still those among the group that didn't accept him it seemed that such things were put aside during their march across the sands of Tale, something that he was more then happy for. It meant that he had a chance! It was something he didn't mean to squander, wanting to be able to stay with his sisters even after this journey had concluded.

A pair of stunning, crystal eyes watched the group from a distance, ducking behind rocky crags and moving just out of sight at every potential moment of being spotted. The creature moved swiftly, like the wind.

Those eyes had never seen such people before... darker-skinned and... green, even. A strange group of people... although, they weren't technically a group, but three. Still, they were a curiosity. Something new. Something to be explored.

Just as the amazed words left Phenyo's lips, three, slender arrows, each one delicately tipped in a sturdy, pink feather, flew towards the arriving groups. Each one hit its target, sinking into the purple-grey rock structures. Each one was near enough to one of the three groups to get their attention, but far enough from any single person to not pose a threat. It was clear that these arrows were not sent to declare war, but to be noticed.

"Greetings, Travelers!" The voice rang out through the valleys of the area, clear and strong. It belonged to a woman, standing atop one of the mountainous structures, a bow in one hand. A quiver, as well as various packs, were slung across her back. She was beautiful, but to the groups of colorfully-hued Tribes from the Southwest, her pale hair and skin may have made her seem washed out in comparison. Her short, rounded ears, even smaller than the Shifters', might have appeared useless. She was different to be certain, but in many ways the same.

Pink crystals dotted her body and a small smile upturned the corners of her lips. "Welcome to Sauti. Home of the Wind Tribe!"
