Aithne listened to the feed back of the others. She was very interested in everything of what they were saying, It was rare for Aithne to listen, generally Aithne wasn't a lioness to listen to anything that others bothered her about. She wasn't one to get along with some one easily and was it mentioned that she normally didn't listen to anyone? Her ears licked around as she did listen carefully as something else caught her attention. The sound of something else and she wasn't even that sure of what it was. She looked toward the ground and noticed the snake slithering through the grass, she knew the snake and she couldn't help but to smile a little at it. She was surprised not to have found Fia or Ea but she did see the snake and that was the answer that she was looking for.
She looked up and pushed her way toward Morag and Elcca before speaking again herself. "I'm not an expert on hunting but if we take this on like a hunting trip this might be a little easier." She spoke simply for a start before then flicking her tail around. "I do agree that we need to start moving, at first we can stay together as a good, honestly so then it would be safer." She then paused. "After that though if we split into groups of 3 or 4 max we can then approach, spread out but not far enough so we can't communicate." She nodded at the idea. "If we're spotted it will be less suspicious, and if some hold back for back up that will too be helpful." She then turned toward the lioness's bird thinking even more. "And if the birds and snakes want to help that could make us more effective." Aithne wasn't really controlling most of the time but there were some times where she didn't enjoy it when things weren't moving. She actually hated it when something that was not moving could me moving. In this case literally and figuratively. "Who planned all of this anyway?" She muttered to herself annoyed that all of these details weren't planned.
She was going to deal with the what seemed to her to be lack of planning however Aithne was starting to feel a little excited about this as she looked at the other faces around her she was very curious of what gathered these faces together. She would agree that it was an.. interesting group.

"Was up at the northern post for a bit," Mkazo grunted. "If the patrols are timed anything like then, we might be able to duck 'em." With the short time he'd been in the Firekin, it was the only guard tour he'd had so far, but he wasn't about to air that in public. He had his pride, damn it!
He then growled softly at the 'order' not to fight if they were detected (was this the one who'd organized the entire thing?) but dipped his head in a brief nod. He didn't like it a damn bit, but it was close enough to an order, and it made sense. However large their group became, it still wouldn't hold a candle to their enemies' numbers if they somehow found the Nergui. Detection could easily equal death or slavery, and then the entire trip would be for nothing. He was a grim, silent shadow as they began moving, shoulders gliding beneath a dark pelt that would always remain at least a little shaggy, no matter how long he lived in the desert heat.

Morag nodded as she listened to Elcca, glancing at the lion with his bold side markings. If she remembered correctly, he and that other female were family to the male that had died in the ambush. It was a sad thing, but in this situation, it made her nervous. If it were up to her, those two would have never gone with, not with the potential that they could up and decide to abandon the mission and fulfill their vengeance instead. But, well... at this point she didn't have a choice and they probably wouldn't have listened to her anyway.
"I agree. This is a mission for information... and the information can't be brought back if those carrying it die along the way. Stealth is the most important thing here, partnered with speed. We don't have the time to waste killing off enemies, no matter how much we might want to." She sighed as she came to a stop beside the red female, glancing in the direction of the guard post. "I'm afraid I don't know much about the guard post... I've never been stationed there."
A frown crossed her half-covered face and she shrugged. "I would suggest a couple someones acting as a distraction, but is anyone willing to volunteer?"

It was good to relay information back and forth, as the idea of distractions came up, he pondered, looked to those that had gathered, and looked to the skies. A distraction. They would need eyes.
Mwako'damu looked around himself, to the ground. For something hard. He flicked his tail in a haphazard manner and saw a stone not far from where he stood. Flat, large enough for what he needed.
He walked a few paces, felt the stone, looked to the sky and unsheathed a claw, he tapped on the stone, not very loud, but tapped, then ceased.
Soon a form descended from the skies and landed upon his shoulder, shook itself, and made no noise. Merely made eye contact to his friend, master, of sorts. He had found his way to the desert and then this male, they kept on well together. When Mwako could understand the creature. Kooka sat upon his shoulder, wanting to see what was happening. It was time to speak to his master/friend.
"Tu anaba?" the bird asked.
Mwako raised a brow.
The bird shook it's head. "Anaba."
"Speak our tongue, Kooka," Mwako demanded. The bird clipped his beak together and sighed.
"Return from the war? I not get to go?"
"This is different."
The bird tilted his head, fluttered wings again on Mwako's shoulder.
"How?"
"We need information about the nergui, Kooka."
"Info-"
"Da kimi, you said once."
"Oh, secrets! As you say, yes, yes. We seek like the kaga, chronicler. I help?"
"Pay attention, and do what you are told, if anything, and always, always be quiet, and speak in our tongue, Kooka."
Kooka seemed disappointed with this, but would manage. Kooka never spoke much of where he was from, but the words he used were native to where he had once belonged. He belonged to the fire now, as he saw it.
"If we are to make a distraction, we should have those on the ground, and in the sky, to relay information back to the groups separate. We can have the distraction group, and sub groups on outer edges. Birds can act as eyes keeping tabs on all groups, and then relaying information to any snakes we have, they can be on the ground and fairly unnoticeable. But we should always be within a good distance of one another, if the worst is to happen. Where is our destination from here? Do we have a suggested or wanted area?"

Azulon was very pleased that they had begun to move. If things were more his way, he'd have happily moved on much sooner. He only hoped the others gathered here would become more silent as they went, he really didn't care about their foolishness. The white male who insisted on being chipper, for example. He appreciated Elcca and that raven talking more seriously as he walked along.
He did begin to wonder, however, if he had ended up picking the wrong time to really get involved in affairs. Azulon looked forward to fighting, and yet, here they were, being told to do no such thing. Hmm... oh well. He'd simply have to live with that then. It wasn't the sort of part he was used to playing, but he did see the value in reconnaissance, as well as understand why their enemies should not be engaged. One lioness suggested imitating birds, and that idea amused him slightly. Lions imitating birds. He doubted they could pull it off convincingly... but Azulon wouldn't deny he was occasionally wrong about things. Not that he really cared.
He remained quiet as he listened to those about, taking them in. Mostly males, a few avians around... some talked strangely. Some even sounded rather unintelligent, but then again, who didn't, to him? So long as they didn't screw up on the wrong time, he supposed that was fine.

Serkan began to scowl. They were talking, and in his opinion not quiet enough. He turned and gave the other lions a scathing glare, fur starting to rise. "Must stress SILENCE.." The words came out in a low hiss, just loud enough to be audible. "Sound carry at night, heard everywhere! Guards hear, come looking!" He then turned his gaze back to the mountains, considering the problem at paw. It wasn't going to be easy to say they were hunting BEYOND the northern border... From the descriptions they'd heard, the eastern and western borders... Yes. Southern.. Maybe. Northern? Not so much, especially with the fact the Nergui were from the north. After a moment, he suddenly hit upon an idea. "Who is fastest lion?" He looked around at everyone. "Put on disguise, run up, get guards chasing... And rest slip through outpost."

Mkazo glared at Serkan, his own hackles raising as he let loose a low rumble, then shook his head. "Could only do it like that if you didn't plan to come back. Guards would be stirred up like a damn hornet's nest, and you'd have a hell of a time getting back in the lands. Joining back up with us sounds pretty stupid, you'd just lead the guards to us." The dark male's brow furrowed as he frowned. "Maybe someone could say they saw something in one direction, and we go the other while they're busy. But either way means the distraction doesn't come along."
It was better than none of them getting through, though.

He noted the want of silence, and pondered for a moment. If the distraction was what was needed, and all agreed it was best, they needed to approach it properly. None of them were cheetahs, after all. "Perhaps we use our winged friends, hmm?" he suggested in a hushed tone, to the group. "Have a few fly to where a guard post might be, have them talk in passing such as 'what was that large group of guards patrolling to the east? I'd not seen them there before. What of the red one?' to have them go in one direction? If the nergui smell an intruder, they would wish to snuff it out, no? They might even seek assistance of our avians to bring them to this location, lead them off the trail?"
Though, in all regards, it could be a farfetched idea.
But what other choice did they have?
"We should not send just a few to get too close, it is too risky," Mwako'damu hoped all would realize he spoke of not losing another. The spirit of the lost and fallen was with them, and would give them strength if they saw with clear vision.
Though it was night...
"The only way one of us, lions, could get close to a guard and relay such a message is if we spoke their tongue, and I don't want to risk the safety of any who are now within our ranks."

Well, it seemed distraction was the name of the game! But there didn't seem to be much of a consensus as to how to distract their fellow pridemates up at the outpost. Elcca herself wasn't a big fan of overly elaborate schemes when they didn't need to be; after all, the threat here was simply getting in trouble. Not death.
Elcca wasn't exactly a stranger to getting into trouble.
"I'm not sure if scaring them is the right idea. We don't want to make it obvious we're leaving- we will be coming home eventually, after all. Perhaps it best we get a bit closer and see what poor soul is posted there," she mused. "Mkazo, if you have been here before, perhaps you could more easily identify who we are dealing with?"
The bright lioness strode forward, keeping her body low to the sand. She couldn't recognize anyone in particular- in fact, she could only make out two of the lions resting out on the outcropping of rocks.
In the distance, two lions sit mulling away their boring evening! No one ever comes through the northern guard post! At least not yet...
Detection level is currently at 20!
arrow From each post on, roll a dice 1-5. When we reach 20, the guards will have been alerted. Better agree on a plan!

Saoi plodded along with the rest, occasionally glancing up at Peri circling overhead and swooping in wide lazy arcs out to the sides, keeping his own beady eyes open. "Birds is a good idea, but unless we've got more than Peri and Yoan, we might be a bit short on numbers..." He fell silent with thought, something he wasn't terribly good at, only making nods and headshakes at the others' ideas and comments.
Sending the group in pairs. All going together. Sacrificing one to the guards that the others could get through. None of the ideas sounded just right. Using the birds could do it...as long as no one recognized which birds belonged to whom. The dark would help with that. Sneaking through a gap in the line of guards would also be hard, the Firekin were too thorough to leave such weaknesses. Or so he believed.
Still silent, he sent off a rare prayer to the pride's patron goddess. Perhaps a little change to the typical watchfulness of the Firekin was needed. For one night only, of course. He'd never been a very faithful lion though. Better keep thinking of ideas.

As the shapes came into view, Serkan's brow furrowed. They'd reached the border much faster than he'd anticipated. Quite suddenly, the red lion wished his mane was much darker instead of the glaring white it was. Even in the dark, he imagined it was pretty noticeable. At any rate... It was what he'd been born with, and he had to figure out how to not get noticed. More importantly... They needed a distraction. He looked to the birds. "Mkazo have good idea... Send birds, they fabricate story of disturbance elsewhere... Send guards east, we go north." It was a pretty good plan, actually. At least, Serkan thought so.

Silently agreeing on a bit of sneaking to see who was waiting at the outpost, Morag fell into a crouch and began easing her way forward. Heck, maybe they'd get lucky and the guards would be looking outward, rather than inward, and they could sneak past without alerting them.
That seemed unlikely though, but what else where they to do?
"What if two of us posed as relief for the guards and kept watch till the rest got back? Then we'd have a sure route back." She said, keeping her voice low as she glanced back at the rest of the group. "But, again, who's willing to do it?"
((if someone else is willing to pitch someone in, I could toss Nuriel into the rp for the purpose. He's technically an adult, I just haven't colored him up yet and gotten his cert done. >3>; *colorist custom fail* ))

They would have to be quiet and as diligent as possible with their movements. Mwako looked to Kooka, and as if silently saying 'b silent' the bird seemed to nod in understanding and merely preened his feathers while perched atop Mwako's shoulder. It was quite an easy task for the bird to do.
Were they supposed to switch with the guards?
Mwako thought they were supposed to go undetected?
There appeared to be confliction here.
They should just try to get by.

Aithne's hair rose on the back of her neck as Serkan hissed a warning of 'silence'. She though that his comment was the least of what they needed in a tense situation and with the added factor of fire-y lions. Her eyes turned toward him with a death glare and a sneer was followed before she too turned her attention to the guards.
Her heart almost dropped a little as she noticed her brother was one of them tonight. She should have known. She almost offered to go distract them but she knew if they were caught either with her distracting them or just them getting caught in general could be bad. No matter how old you were she found the 'i'm gonna tell mom and dad!" threat never died. Especially when your parents were regents. She tried to keep as quiet as she could as she walked, staying down low, watching her every step. She really did not want to be caught and she was doing her best to avoid that. S?he was hoping that no one asked her to. She wasn't sure if she was in the mood for this. She had plenty of reasons she could go up there but she was trying to lay low, even from the group.
