Above Heartache skipped into the group of Kin working. It wasn't something she was used to. All work and no play made a boring Acha in her mind. Smiling, she went up to the closest one and asked, "What can I do? Will it be fun?" Water Silk went around picking up items here and there to help rebuild the mound the Kimeti all talked about. At least this time he would be around to see what it meant to them. Something wondrous by the feel of those around him. It seemed all were wanting to get it back and it drove his instincts to help out. Wings Sleep moved easily through the groups grabbing items and building the mound. Today was a wonderful day, with the excitement of games going on. Oh, she planned to dance the night they were all finished. It would be wondrous, and with the little ones! The thought gave her steps an extra bounce as she walked. She went looking for feathers that would stand out against some of the young ones while they danced, but not get in the way of their hooves. So much to plan for, that she didn't see the other until bumping into them. ((I don't care who Wings bumped into, just quote me so I know. The other two are open for any interaction too.))

"Wind... that would work too. I could call you Windy!" Yep. She was proud to give him a nickname that was even close to his name. Specially now that she knew what to call him, even if she wasn't likely to see him again after this. When he asked what was going on, she let out an over exaggerated, long gasp of surprise. "You mean you don't know?" She managed to not run into anything or walk off track as she looked at him, staring. "Honestly, I'm not sure either. I know it's for the fire festival thinger, but I've never been, and I've... only kind of heard the stories." Stories she didn't really stick around long to hear. "I figured, everyone else is working, so I might as well pretend I know what I'm doing and help!"

At her overly exaggerated gasp, Ashes tilted his ears back. WOW. Was this event that important? Should he have been ashamed?? ...Nope. It turns out, the doe he was helping had no clue what this was all about either! Ashes couldn't help but let out a small chuckle after almost freezing in place! "Hahaha! Alright, so I guess I'm not that alone in the fact that I have no clue what this is all about. Fire Festival though...? I've never heard it. Sorry." He apologized yet again. Both of them working together turned fruitful as they dumped the tree branch onto the pile. Everyone else seemed to have been packing it down and making it neat, so with a hoof, Ashes tapped at the bark. "Should we break it apart and scatter it? It seems everyone else it making it so nice and neat."

The lamb watched as Not-Momma shook her head. Disappointed. Then an other came up, it was the other-with-Nobody-Dares-To's horns Momma or Not-Momma or a Nobody. She was looking at the lamb and he met her green eyes with his wide, gold eyes, but he said nothing. he had nothing to say to an other. He turned to Momma, nearly giggling when Big-Beak-Not-Caution hissed at the other. His little stub-like tail wiggled in his amusement and when Big-Beak-Caution slunk under mamma to settled next to him, he knocked his head against her side. This time, she didn't squawk or caw, she simply stared at the other. The lamb's eyes went back to Momma though, when she shifted, nodding at the other, but not smiling. Momma didn't smile, smiling was bad on Momma. Then she spoke and the lambs eyes went back to the other. "Hello."

"No I'm blind.." she almost added "..you idiot" but held her tongue. She was feeling unusually snippy in her depression. "I can't really dance or help because I end up bumping into things or getting in the way." She sighs deeply, laying her head down on the ground. "I can hear just about everything up here, even when they're singing and telling stories." Life was staring at the little black lamb with huge, sparkling eyes of interest and joy that she'd become obliviouse to the large animal hissing at her. Her attention snapped back when the doe of white and browns addressed her. She raised her head and her cheeks tinted red just a little in embarrassment. "I'm sorry, ignore who..? Oh." She noticed the gryphon fluffed in warning and making hissing noises at her. "It's ok..I understand these creatures are very protective. I'm Life." She made a small bow again to the doe. "I'm sorry if I'm interrupting.." it had just occurred to her that she might have been, "it's just I saw this adorable uh..creature here and I had never seen such a thing before. Is this a baby?"

Wane had just added the final bits to her bubbling water when a purple doe bumped into her. Looking up she scowls, until she sees the other doe hadn't meant it. "Oh, hello." she says, then casts a look at her twin. Seeing he's done Wane grins. "This is my twin Wax." she states. "And my twin is Wane." the buck tells the doe. "Want to.." "..join us." the twins ask, Wax starting the sentence and Wane finishing it.
The twins look from the doe to their shells of bubbling water. "You could sample.." "..our experiments." They offer. "My brother has made charms to ward off fire." Wane says. "And my sister has boiled fruit to mingle the flavors." Wax informs the doe. "We are eager.." "..to test and taste them." "Please.." "..join us." They ask her. To some, the twin's way of finishing each other's words and answering for each other is off putting. For the twins its a testament to how close they are, that they know what the other will say before it is spoken.

Wings shook her head after the bump, "Sorry, I should of looked where I was stepping." She looked from one to the other as they talked. "Hello, Wax and Wane." Smiling, as these two made sense to her. "I am Wings Sleep." Realizing that she still had some feathers in her back teeth, she put them on her back, so not to be rude. Wings, looked at the bubbling water, wondering how they kept it so fresh. "I would like to join you, thank you both."

Leaning up against Big-Beak-Caution, the lamb watch the other with one eye and Momma with the other. Big-Beak-Caution nipped gently at his ear, she didn't like get used as a headrest. The other was embarrassed, her cheeks tinged curiously red. Totoma had never seen that expression on Momma or Not-Momma's face. Weird. It must be a wrong expression even though Momma had explained what it was. A few blinks and the lamb decided that it would be nice if he could use Big-Beak-Caution as a headrest and Big-Beak-Not-Caution as a backrest. It would be comfortable, but Big-Beak-Not-Caution would probably n** at his ear not-gently. Watching Momma, she didn't seem to react to the other's words at all. The thing on his head was itching again. Attempting to rub it against Big-Beak-Caution's foreleg, the big-beak hissed before side stepping, causing the lamb to tumble to the side. He righted himself and glared at the big-beak. She did a weird croaking nose and headbutted him which made the itch feel better. After that was solved, the lamb returned to watching. Cornice felt a rise of irritation at having Precious called an 'uh... creature'. She didn't let it show though, she never did, even as she felt the want to sneer and bare her fangs, lash her tail. Rather, she stayed perfectly calm and civil on the outside. That soft doe's words mattered not. She nodded at Precious. "This is my son." "Precious, say hello." It didn't do well to not be polite, especially when they would both be at the gathering for the duration of the festival. Obediently, Precious pressed out a simple, "Hel-lo." Vesperiie Sorry about the POV change in the middle, Vesp, Astra.

Blind? Oh that was a shame! "Aw." Then she couldn't see how wonderfully marvelous he was, and showing off his dance was pointless. "But you could... join in on the stories, right? And sing? Or at least cheer the others on." Right knew he'd work harder if a pretty doe was cheering him on. "There's lots you can do to help. And if you don't want to be down there, you can dance with me here. No one to run into but me, and I wouldn't mind at all." He tried to get her to smile. "Mmm, the last time the festival happened, I couldn't find my way." She realized she had never given her name. "I'm Lost Trail by the way." She pawed at the branch they laid down. "I hear stories sometimes. So I kind of... know this happens. I don't know why, and I don't see the point of the mound, but it's important, obviously, so this is what I'm going to do." she nodded firmly. At the dark buck's suggestion to break the branch apart, she looked at it and frowned. "But it's so natural like this..."

Wax grins at his twin, and steps over to his shell, carefully moving it off the flames and tipping it to let the water out. "They aren't done yet.." "..they'll need decorating after they cool." "When they are you can pick one.." "..to take back with you." As they speak the twins sort the items from the newly emptied shell, revealing pebbles, bone fragments, bits of wood and even a few sparkling stones. These get added back into the shell, leaving a boiled mush of vegetation on the ground.
That done Wane tends to her own shell, the contents of which has boiled down into a thick liquid, lumpy with fruit and leaves, this shell gets moved as well. Wane doesn't pour it out, though, instead she simply takes it off the heat and scoops some into the smaller shells. "It should cool.." "..down first." They say, setting the small bowls on the ground. "What did.." "..I put into it?" Wane grins and takes a moment to remember. "Fruits that are sweet and some that are sour and some spicy leaves I'd found." She rattles off a list, feeling odd that Wax didn't finish it. Not that he could, having been tending his charms while she made it. "Things that we like picked.." "..fresh and mixed together." The twins look at Wings, checking that they still have her attention. "I don't know what the fruits are called but can.." "..describe them for you if you want." They offer. The twins have little use for the common names of plants, having little contact with other Kin. They tend to name things based on how they look. So while the average Kin might call a berry a strawberry, the twins would call it a red-seed berry.

The doe hadn't even noticed the gryphon - either she'd seen one before, or a baby totoma was the more interesting commodity. Edge bristled inwardly at the liberal use of the word "creature", for Savager was certainly much more than that, and her grandson even more. She allowed herself a sharp flick of her tail, but otherwise remained as composed as her daughter. Savager however glared, his wings shifting, and she knew he was restless -- his mood was usually foul enough without her contributing. As her daughter spoke, her mind turned back to the teal buck at the edge of the trees - perhaps... "You didn't interrupt," Edge replied smoothly, with a glance at Cornice, "I was about to go." She nodded farewell at the doe- Life- but saw no reason to introduce herself in turn when she was just going to leave. Life would learn her name soon enough if she became friend or foe, and if not then no words had been wasted. For totoma, she caught his watchful eye and one corner of her mouth quirked upward to show she had not forgotten him, and with that she turned and strode away from them, Savager gladly padding alongside her. Her course took her to the teal buck, who was watching the rebuilding of the mound. She hears him ask his question, the curse putting a smirk on her lips, and though he spoke to his hound, she answers. "You should have seen it before it was torn down," she chuckles, coming up beside him. "Ghostthistle's mound was a total wreck."

Life smiled at the totoma baby and bowed to him as well. "Hello to you too." She looked from Edge to Cornice. "Your son? Truly? I can see where the beautiful black comes from. I have never seen a youngling such as him. Is he a..toto..toema..." Life's nose wrinkled as she struggled to remember the word for the ones who'd come in with the harshness of the winter. "One of those who came into the swamp most recently?" If Life felt any tension in the air, she thought of it as only familial protectiveness. "Such an adorable boy! How are babies like this birthed? Are they this fluffy at the beginning? When did the plates begin to develop?" Life began unknowingly pelting Cornice with questions, endless enthralled by the fluffy child, excitement to learn about baby totoma made her eyes twinkle like a leaf in sunlight. Sunny mumbled quietly and sighed. Acha really were all about the party weren't they? She would be that if she confessed she was unfamiliar in the ways of dancing he'd think of her as stupid. "Singing and stories well..." she began softly "Mostly is done aloud for others to enjoy isn't it? I can never tell when I still have an audience. I would be mortified to be sitting alone out there, singing or babbling to no one! And..and...and.." she said the last part very quietly, barely a murmur, "I don't know how to dance.."

She was a tough one to read, this doe with her too-big eyes and too-subdued features. Spindrift flicked his tail with deliberate laziness while he waited for a response, not entirely sure if one would be forthcoming. It wasn't shyness preventing her, or at least he didn't think that was the whole answer. Then again, he wasn't completely acquainted with the concept of timidness in any shape or form, so maybe he was misreading the situation. When she spoke again, his ears perked in an involuntary show of satisfaction. Still, the somewhat vague question forced him to glance back a second time, trying to decide exactly what she was confused about. It was a pretty standard sight, aside from the aforementioned anomaly. "What, those two with their turtle shells and weirdness? Honestly, I couldn't tell you." He squinted to make out what they had added to the natural bowls, spying half-blackened fruits, unsightly strands of plant life, and other seemingly random items, many of them singed by the same fire that had ravaged the landscape. He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, shrugging a little as he returned to the lithe doe. "Yeah, not a clue. Trust me, though, they're the ones that're... different. Not you."--- Wanwood colored slightly beneath his fur when the buck kept talking, oblivious to his tentative interruption. It was painfully evident now that he'd misheard, not to mention misunderstood who the second half of the conversation was directed toward. From the sound of things, the other was simply airing his thoughts, heedless of the gathered kin on either side of him. Wan was not the type to condemn thinking aloud, having indulged in the practice more than once in his lifetime. That didn't stop him from being flustered, looking elsewhere in an attempt to mask his error. Unfortunately, the moment he had chosen to back quietly and swiftly away was the same second that the other raised his head, eyes immediately locking onto his own, glowing set. "I, well," he stammered, casting around for something more intelligent to say. His mouth hung open a minute too long, closed with a click, then reopened with a faked cough. "I just. Hello? And, um, good work so far. That's... that's all." Intelligence was not on the agenda for today, not when he was expected to force it out around his clumsy tongue. "Sorry," he added belatedly, returning his gaze to the ground and patting down an already well-packed section of dirt. Would it be asking too much of the Swamp to swallow him up and allow him reemerge in another place, preferably with no one else around?

"I see. I've never heard tales of such a festival so this is all very new to me. You have a lovely name, by the by. Lost Trail... is that literal as well to you?" When he suggested that they chop the branch apart, he could see she looked a little disappointed. "Hm, well I suppose we can leave it this way then. After all, we're trying to build up a big mound, yes? We can just add more and build around it! The point of rebuilding something is to make it better anyhow. That's the way I see it." Ashes snorted slightly as he breathed in a waft of smoke. the stench was strong and slightly clogging... never had he been so up close to an area with smoke and fire before. "That's what this... stuff is doing. It's taking everything down so that we and nature may fix it, and make it better." He actually was talking about the fire, but he had never really encountered that either. Poor buck.

Beautifully Broken turned from piling dirt around her latest addition to the mound and smiled at spotting another kiokote joining the work. She walked over to him. Speaking whle working was unusual for BB but this wasn't like her usual mosaics which were a thing requiring focus and calm. Eventually she might add her mark to some small corner of the finished mound, but for now it was a group effort and something of a social occassion. "Good morning. It's good to see another of our kind joining in. Already its a glorious work with so many contributing, a fitting dedication." Even as she spoke she turned to look at the ground mound and contemplate her next contribution. Moongazer was annoyed. She understood the neccesity of the fires that burned and renewed, but it made the night too bright and the smoke bothered her eyes. Now she found herself in the center of a swarm of activity. Gazer was young and had never seen this place herself as it had been, but even being here a short time she heard tell of other gatherings. For now she stood on the sidelines of the clearing watching, listening, and pondering just what she might herself contribute to the gathering.
