Nona was ready. Sasha could feel the acute way that Nona's attention heightened, the way the weapon grew more aware that she was about to gain the release that came with unleashing her charge. Sasha stepped forward. She wanted to feel Rin's shield break, give way, just like Rep's had. There was no rhyme or reason to it. Nothing except Sasha's own selfish wantwantwant to experience it again. It wouldn't happen. Sasha's attack fell short as she moved in close - and yet, not close enough. Rin's words suddenly clamored in Sasha's ears. It enraged her. "Don't you think I know? I know! I don't need you to tell me!" < She is not your enemy, sweetling.> Nona's voice was thready and weak. Sasha bristled. Quote: HP: 23/50 DMG: 0 CHG: 0/3 | 1/2

Rin looked somewhat scolded as she coiled back at Sasha's words, she readied Byr and swung but the words cut deeper than Nona's hooks and it was a bit too distracting.

Sasha felt sloppy. She felt pulled and stretched and she felt furious about it. She was feeling laid low and humiliated when she'd been the one who had instigated the fight. It was not a good feeling. It felt weak. She felt weak. It was purely by luck that her next attack landed against the outside of Rin's thigh. Looking a proper mess now, Sasha panted softly as she waited for Rin's next attack. Quote: HP: 23/50 DMG: 2 CHG: 1/3 | 1/2

That attack came with a powerful blow of Byr's blade, aimed at Sasha's knees again. Rin was breathing hard and gave Sasha not much more than a wide-eyed bewildered stare. She wasn't sure what she'd done but Sasha's... ferocity was unmistakable. Flashes of their previous duel coming to her.
Sasha didn't like to lose, not one bit, and it was only just now that it was occurring to Rin. A bit too late to do anything about it, not that she could without making her sparring partner more upset.

Sasha felt particularly stunned after that last hit. It took her a few long minutes to regain any semblance of composure before a strange look came over her face. < Enough, Sasha, please.> "No." The single word was a mere utterance as Sasha struck again, Nona's hook clipping against Rin's upper arm. Byr felt Nona tearing into his shield and yelped in the back of Rin's mind. She struck back reflexively, though the look on Sasha's face had grown a large amount of concern within the woman.
Surely her shield had to be weakening at this point? Surely she would call the match soon?...

It was a tangible sort of feeling, an electric shock that happened each time that Nona was ready for her charge to be utilized. She felt that zing of energy when she landed her next blow across Rin's abdomen. By this time, Sasha's breath was raspy and harsh. She wasn't sure what was making her act so rash, so stupid. Frustration, maybe. The need for the same rush she'd felt days past. The need to validate the darker emotions she'd felt. Quote: HP: 4/50 DMG: 7 CHG: 3/3 | 1/2

Rin did not defend herself this time, simply stumbled backwards and fell before attempting to help herself back up. On her feet again, she held an empty hand out towards Sasha, "Goldy - are you okay?" HP - 20

"I'm fine," Sasha hissed an instant before her arm came snapping down, blade arcing towards Rin's hip. She wasn't fine. She wasn't fine at all. When she'd left on leave, everything had seemed to fall apart. Sasha felt shredded, mangled, and she wasn't sure what had happened. Maybe it was the realization that she'd wasted so much time caring for her papa, loving him and giving everything she could give, doing everything she could in order to be the best daughter, in order to make him proud. And he'd given up on her. He'd given up. Maybe it was coming home to find Jerry in shambles, bloodied and broken on her bed. Maybe it was discovering that her flute had been stolen. Maybe it was watching Rep crumble beneath her, and coming to terms with that dark, slithery rage that had always been there, always searching for an outlet. Maybe it was a little of everything. Sasha didn't know. Quote: HP: 4/50 DMG: 14 CHG: 0/3 | 2/2

Sasha had blasted Rin within an inch of her shields life. She could feel it crackling and crumbling about her.
That distraction ended the moment Sasha's charge connected and so she ran in again. Byr's blade swinging down to crack heavily upon Sasha's shield. Crack. Crumble. Gone. But Byr was still falling and came to a sickening wet stop.
Her heart leapt tight in her throat as she was met with the horrified fact Byr's blade was now wedged in Sasha's shoulder... <******** ******** seemed to slow drastically as she swooped in to try and assess the situation at the fallen hunters side.

Sasha would have kept going. She would have kept attacking until Rin was a puddle of mush on the ground. There was only so much frustration, so many personal inadequacies that one woman could shoulder on her own. Of course, having a giant axe firmly embedded in said shoulder didn't help things. The first thing that Sasha felt was blinding, unimaginable pain. She swerved, Nona falling to the ground in a flash as she desummoned herself. < Sasha?!> The second thing that Sasha felt was nothing. A deep, endless nothing that felt almost like sanctuary. She crashed to the ground in a heap, motionless. Quote: HP: -5/50 DMG: -- CHG: 0/3 | 2/2

Rin wasn't sure what to do. She couldn't remove Byr, that could cause the blood to gush unchecked allowing Sasha to bleed out even faster, but carrying her that way could possibly prove worse. She noticed her own jacket and grabbed it and tied it around Sasha and Byr to try and stabilize his position in her until she was in the infirmary where she'd have many more resources to control such a bleed upon his removal.
That done she started to move Sasha very carefully onto her back. Piggy back with Byr's handle hanging precariously over a shoulder with a slumped unconscious Sasha. It was then Rin noticed Nona was not in Sasha's hair.
Can't any ******** thing go right ever?! ******** Sasha, hang in there. Spotting the barrette in the grass she carefully squat to grab it.
"Sorry Nona," she stuck the barrette in her mouth and returned her other hand to support Sasha's weight on her back as she hauled a** back to the labs.
There was an urgency in the air, an urgency Rin still couldn't comprehend fully. Her world felt slow now while everything else seemed to speed up. She was waiting by the wayside, out of the way. She could feel her own heart pounding still with adrenaline as she looked down at the small treble clef sitting in her lap.
She offered the inanimate 'object' a forlorn little smile, "I don't know if you can hear me Nona... but," she choked back on emotion. Tucking it away, tucking it all away. Her expression steeled, "I'm very sorry. I didn't... I just didn't know how close..."
She returned to a silent wait even as Nona was taken away and a Byr soaked in blood was returned wrapped in her own messy coat and left to rest by her side. Her thoughts grew more and more distant, more quiet.
She probably shouldn't be here, she caused this after all. But what did it really matter who did what? Sasha was hurt now and Rin was still her friend and friends are there for friends when they are hurt. No matter what.
She cast a few thoughtful looks towards the door and before she could think better of it she slid inside to wait at her side.
