She turned to face Sasha on the floor, curling an arm under her head.
"I don't know if what we're doing is great, honestly. It feels sort of like a super shitty spy job that's thankless-- but...Saving the world means something, to me, and that's good enough."
Clerise laughed when her nose was booped, eyes sliding closed as it happened. "Thank you. Seriously. I only told a few people, really, and I'm glad that you stayed even if I was a whiny b***h about it."
It's easier to look down on her own behaviour now that the tide had turned, but thinking of her darkest hours still made her skin crawl, just a bit. Balthazar was sleeping, but he soothed a tendril of calm around her mind, curling around it like a warm blanket.
"You're important to me, too. But we're more than that. We are hunters, and we live and die by our blades, in whatever form they take."
She took a deep breath, and her thoughts tumbled out before she had a chance to stop them. "I'm going to halloween, soon. I sort of really miss Miss La- uhh, Clarice. Sooo. I dunno, I figure I'll at least go see her." The words were strangely loaded, and...awkward. Strangely awkward. "I miss her so much, man. Just seeing her around, and stuff."
A pause.
"In a like...more than friendsies, more than wanna be your ******** kinda way."
