"And thank you for proving my point." She muttered softly under her breath; honestly, the way she was dressed was mild considered to what she'd seen in some bars. At least all of her private parts were still that: private. Still, she popped open the bag and slid the shirt over her head, irritated and pride hurting a little.
"Judging by the names, I'm guessing it's some sort of sense of ironic and overly played humor of them being burly and buff." Her piercing gaze fixed on the bartender. "Something strong, I honestly don't care what."

"Yup," Ed drawled in response to Koorie's assumption that the diminutive names were ironic. His beer was slid over, and he took a sip.
The bartender poured a few things in a shaker glass, gave it a brisk shake, strained it into a glass over ice and slid it over to Koorie. "Here you go, one Careless Memory."

Koorie watched with a slight bit of curiosity as her drink was made, keeping an on what alcohols were being mixed together. She wasnt planning on getting completely s**t-faced tonight, but she did want to get on a very solid buzz. Brow raised she took the drink and had a sip, then smirked: thisnwould be a good one, she tasted hardly any of the alcohol in it.
"So what was the real reason you showed up? You already mentioned you're off your shift she why are you still in uniform?"

The bartender slid Ed's burger over along with a plate of cooked ground meat. Ed slipped the plate to the floor for Zaire and took a big bite of his burger, chewing and swallowing before he answered Koorie. "I heard a scream, I investigated. What did you expect me to do? As for still being in uniform...eh, I'm used to it. It's comfortable and practical, and I don't see the point in getting another set of clothes dirty just to walk home from the station," Ed said with a shrug before taking another bite of his burger.

She took another long swig of her drink, enjoying the flavor in her mouth and letting out a very slow, long sigh. She fixed her gaze back on her companion, looking a bit more at ease than earlier, and shrugged. "Not many people would investigate and put themselves in the middle of a dispute like that."
Absently, she rubbed the wrist where she'd been knocked by his nightstick, her pale skin giving a darker color of where a bruise was going to form. That wasn't the only dark mark on her though, and while she'd certainly done a number on the thief he still had managed to land a few blows on her too. The largest bruise was probably going to be from the punch he'd managed to land on her side, a hit she wouldn't have taken if she'd kept her cool while taking the man down. No, she had gotten too far into her rage and instead attempted to tank the fight. In hindsight, not the best way to keep a pretty face pretty.

Ed shrugged and took a drink of his beer. "It's my job, on or off the clock," Ed said simply. Over by the jukebox, a pair of boisterous young men cued up a song before wandering over to the pool table. Ed just shook his head as the notes rang out and took another draw of his beer and bite of his burger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2viESLJQRlo

"Just don't let your job kill you... A life is a shameful thing to waste after all." Koorie winced as she heard a few people belting out the lyrics and sighed. "Well, it could be a lot worse; you could have brought me to a karaoke bar. Most of the people there are just god awful and haven't even the slightest sense of music; it's enough to make your ears bleed sometimes."
Even as she spoke, her hand slid up and down the length of her glass as she easily followed the guitar notes to the music. It wasn't that she knew the song, but the melody was repetitive and pretty easy to pick up for someone who more than dabbled in the musical arts.
(Niiiice music video!)

"Nah, I'm gonna retire to a desk one of these days and breed my dogs. But there's still some life in me. Took out an Arcanine myself when I first came over here, before I got Zaire," Ed bragged a little.
Hearing her name, Zaire gave a small yip and wagged her tail, before turning back to her food.
"And bite your tongue. A karaoke bar? I'd have to be too drunk to walk straight before you'd find me in one of those," Ed said with a shudder.
(Isn't it? I thought it perfect to share here! Have you seen Avengers yet? If so, did you like it?)

Koorie went completely ridged when he mentioned becoming a dog breeder and her hand went instantly to Miu's pokeball. She knew that the pokemon had a lot of trust problems because of her past, and a breeding farm was part of that. The righteous morons that kept showing up to 'reclaim' her made her skin crawl each time because all they saw in Miu was money.
Koorie looked down at her drink in thought, running her finger slowly around the rim of the glass. "I was made to go there by some band members to make sure I could sing in public without stage fright. It was rather horrible, but they got the answer they were looking for." She let her voice trail off, trying to decide if being around this man was a smart idea, especially with Miu with her.
(Of COURSE I've seen it! Three Times, including the midnight release! Loved it sooooo much)

Ed took another sip of his beer, apparently oblivious to Koorie's discomfort. "Ah. I see." Ed reached down to give Zaire a fond rub behind the ears before sitting up again. "So where did you get your Vulpix? My three are all rescues of a sort so far. Zaire came from a raid on a puppy mill. With her being a shiny with color variation recessive, she probably would have spent her whole life having puppy after puppy if she hadn't been resucued.
"Zelda came from the station kennels, but she'd been there forever. No one wanted a pink Growlithe. The guys thought she was too girly a color, and the gals thought they would get laughed at for actually picking a pink color variation Growlithe over a normal colored one. She's a bit bratty, too long without a proper handler, but she's a good girl under that.
"Link is my latest save. He got stolen from his foster home where he was being socialized, but he already knew he was meant to be a police dog. He wouldn't do a darn thing for the criminals that stole him. The idiots chained him up outside to act as an alarm system. When we came he took one look at the uniforms and he layed down and wagged his tail, silent as a mouse. The way he and Zelda have been dancing around eachother, I suspect I'll have puppies eventually one way or another," Ed said with a fond smile, watching Koorie covertly out of the corner of his eye.
(Long post is long! And ooooh, midnight release, nice! A little while ago, some friends and I marathoned all the movies in the series and then went and saw Avengers again. It was a whole day of movies! And we picked up on stuff we had missed before! Did you notice that Tony started drinking his green stuff that postponed the palidium poisoning back in Iron Man 1?)

"I found her one night on my way home. She was in an ally behind one of the restaurant I passed by every day, fur matted and aggressive for such a little thing. So instead of trying to catch her, I left her some of the food I was bringing home, and that started to be a habit. Not sure exactly what changed her mind one day, but she ended up coming up to me slowly one day and she's been my partner since." She spoke the story calmly, her expression one of flat emotionless as her finger slowly circled the rim of her glass again.
"Found out later she's from a breeder's home and had run away months prior when the owners passed away; apparently the family had been in a financial battle over her." Her expression then became hard and dangerous, a clear warning. "We are both very protective over one another and I will not allow anything to happen to her."
(OMG no I didn't catch that! FFFFF Such awesome!)

Ed nodded and took another bite of his burger. Swallowing, he agreed. "You have to be careful when you have pokemon with special colorations. Everyone either wants your pokemon, or wants one of the pups. And no one ever seems to like it when you tell them you aren't going to be a puppy mill, and that breeder does not mean puppies for all, or that you are going to make the pups do anything they don't want to do or go with anyone they don't like." Ed snorted.
"Heck, Zelda managed to get out of the kennel already, had a pup less than a week after I picked her up. Cute as a button, and way to bouncy and stubborn to ever make it in police work. Found him a nice civilian, took the two of them to the park, made sure they got along before I handed over his pokeball," Ed said. "Oh, and the people fighting over your Vulpix sound like idiots. You never upset your breeding female. You pamper her, and take care of her, and make sure she knows how special and wonderful she is. Because she darn well deserves it, and if you don't, there's a pretty good chance she knows Hyper Beam, or Thunder, or Fire Blast, and hormonal females will be happy to demonstrate this. Idiots." Ed slugged down another swallow of beer.

Koorie visibly relaxed a bit more at Ed continued to speak about breeding. "Unfortunately, the world isn't as simple and kind as how you would hope it to be. Because of that, there are limitations to things that I can and cannot expect Miu to comply with. She has a strong distrust of anything human, and the fact that she chose me still leaves me in confusion some days. As you saw earlier, I am not a good person."
Still, the fact of the matter was that even though this man was going to be a breeder, he seemed nice enough and his current companion certainly loved him. Even she had to admit that there wouldn't be such a strong bond between the two of them if he were really a bad individual.
Her fingers stopped their cycle around the edge of her glass and very quickly she reached over and stole a fry from the edge of his plate and popped it into her mouth. She was a little hungry after all.

Ed responded to this fry-theft by casually dunking one of his fries in Koorie's drink and eating the alcoholic fry. "Yeah, I don't expect the world to be all puppies and roses. That's why I carry a nightstick, a heavy-duty flashlight, three pokemon, and a hefty serving of chutzpah with me whenever I go out," Ed said drolly around the fry.

Koorie stared at Ed in momentary stunned silence as she watched him reach across the table and ruin her drink with the intrusion of the oily starch in her drink. "You.... you did not just do that." In retaliation, she stole one more fry and returned the favor with his beer and popping it into her mouth.
Across the room she could see a group of guys glancing periodically over to her and she frowned at them before looking down at her drink. Grabbing it, she downed the rest of it quickly, not ready to deal with some drooling idiots sober.
