Mitsu regarded Shun for a moment before she smiled faintly a hand coming to rest against his cheek. "Even if he does I always have you there to pick me back up." That was the faith that she had in her reaper. She knew he would always be there for her no matter what.

"I choose to stay and I can't change the way I feel. I take the good with the bad and I accept that...otherwise I wouldn't be talking with you right now." Leaning toward him she rested her head against his shoulder. "I can't always promise there won't be times I won't be upset or angry but no matter what I will always love you."

Outside the other bathroom

Shun glanced as the pair that had been in the other bathroom earlier exited. He didn't say anything, but then turned his attention back to his wolf. She gave him the same answer she always did when this topic came up. He was both grateful and worried for it. On one hand, she was still with him, but on the other, she was at risk.

Even so, hearing these words did to chase away his doubts for now. Wrapping his arms around her, he gently leaned his head against hers.

"I hope you won't regret this. I love you too. And I always will," he whispered. He was just going to need to do everything in his power to keep her from getting hurt by those who would want to exploit this soft spot of his.

"I won't," Mitsu promised. "I love you." She wrapped her arms around him to embrace him shortly before she pulled back. "Let's head back yeah? It sounds like something is going on."

Holding her close for a few moments, Shun soon looked towards the main area of the Prom hall, noticing something was definitely happening.

"Alright. Let's see what's going on."

Ghoul's bathroom

Lizzy had decided to leave prom to get some peace and quiet, and to do some reflection; of course, since she had told her date that she would be back, she decided to linger somewhere close... Which had led her to the cubicle furthest away from the door in the ghoul's bathroom. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone else around, and the moment she sat down on the cover of the toilet seat, she pulled her mask up to rest on top of her head, and sobbed into her hands.

She tried to pull her legs up so that she could hug her knees, to form a ball of Lizzy, but when the ballgown made it impossible to do so, she only sobbed harder.

After a long time of crying - well, probably more like a few minutes of crying, followed by a minute of sniffling, followed by nearly 10 minutes of staying into space - Lizzy finally dug out her eyephone, and sent her boilfriend a simple text.

Text to Mac: Can you come to the ghoul's bathroom please? I'm in the last cubicle.

No, she didn't care that he was a boil.

Ghoul's Bathroom

Mac didn't feel any ounce of remorse or hesitation as he opened the door to the ghoul's bathroom, stepping in and looking around. Huh, this was...actually a really nice bathroom! That wasn't fair, almost. The scenery wasn't important though; what was important was in the last stall, and he didn't know why she wanted him in there with her.

His thoughts were not clean, though.

He stepped to the last stall, knocking lightly on the door. She had been gone a long time he realized, and slowly the not-so-clean thoughts in his head were ebbing. "You called?"

There was the sound of movement on the other side of the cubicle, and soon, it creaked open, reddened eyes peeking out. A second later, the door was flung open, and she reached out, grabbing Mac, and pulling him into the stall before locking it again. It was a small cubicle, which meant that they were in close proximity of each other... Which suited her just fine.

"Mac..." She whined, burying her face into his chest, arms wrapped tightly around his torso, "Riley's back. She can't remember anyone or anything, but I know people are happy. And I should be happy. And those people probably expect me to be happy. But I'm not happy. It hurts." She finally looked up, her eyes filled with fresh tears, "I moved on, Mac. I cleaned, and stitched that wound up myself. The nights I spent crying. The funeral-picnic. It was supposed to be over, and now it feels like everything I did, everything I said? They don't matter anymore. Jericho, Mot, Amrita... Everyone."

The tears wouldn't stop, and she probably looked like a mess, "We were doing well, weren't we? Junko headed prom herself! She never did anything like this before! Jericho got a mentor, and is slowly overcoming his condition. Amrita started the year book, and talked to Christof about you-know-what-" At that, she paused briefly to draw a rectangle in the air, referring to the weapons tablet, "-And at first, it was all for her, but it slowly became about stepping out into the spotlight. Everyone was shining... But everything's probably going to start centering around her again."

Maybe she never got over her own personal issues regarding Riley. Maybe she didn't care right now... Frankly? It scared her to know that she could have such thoughts.

"Why?" She whispered, choking up as she looked away, suddenly frightened that this side of her might scared Mac as much as she was scaring herself, "Why couldn't she just... Why...?"

Mac was instantly alert as he saw those tear-stained eyes peek out at him. Something was wrong, something was really wrong. He didn't fight her as she pulled him into the stall with her, being careful to reach back and lock it behind him just in case. When that was done he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as she sobbed into him, relaying everything she was worried about. Wait...Riley was back? What? But...Lizzy said...what?! How was that possible?! As she spoke he rubbed her back, occasionally giving her waist a reassuing squeeze.

"I never thought I'd see the way when you wouldn't want to see someone again." Mac chuckled low, shaking his head before leaning down to nuzzle her gently. "But I understand, and you know what? <******** Riley." His dislike of the Demoness had not been a secret, especially to the Mindflayer herself. He never liked her, and though she tried to make a peace offering once, he knew it would get nowhere. After seeing Lizzy so torn up after her 'passing', he thought it was over...but that didn't seem to be the case anymore.

"Your hard work and words aren't going to just disappear because the b***h is back, Lizzy. Everything you said these people did in her absense won't be forgotten, they're not going to magically revert because their crutch is back." Well, that Amrita ghoul might, but she always seemed to be easier to fold than tear-away paper. He kept that quiet, though. A hand slid up from her side, fingers brushing away some of the falling tears. "You've helped them step out of their boxes if they didn't already take that step on their own, so they have you to thank for the way they are now...and if they do revert? If they forget that you helped them, that they actually became their own person and not some blind follower? Then they're not worth your time and effort ever again." Now his other hand came up to brush the tears on the other side of her face. "You did your best and even you grew because of it. That's something you should be happy about." He held her face gently, thumbs drifting up to brush gently under her puffy eyes.

"Don't let a purple weed get the best of you. Don't cry over someone who doesn't deserve it."

"I... I don't know. I just know that I already finished, and closed that chapter in this story. She would not be forgotten, but when I say 'I wish that she was still alive', I meant it in a 'if she hadn't died first' way... I feel like my feelings had been played with," Lizzy replied, feeling relieved that Mac didn't look repulsed at her reaction. In fact, his chuckle made her feel a little better, knowing that he wasn't judging her for feeling this way... For having such - in her opinion - terrible thoughts that if these thoughts was someone else's, she would probably have called them a jerk or a meanie face. Maybe both.

"I don't need their thanks. I wasn't doing them a favor," She muttered, looking confused as she reached for Mac's hand, gripping it tightly; was this about recognition? That wouldn't be unconditional love anymore... No, she did those things so that they would stand up, if they weren't already trying to do so on their own, since some people needed the shove... Right? She closed her eyes briefly, feeling the warmth of Mac's hands on her cheeks, "... Yes, doing those things just felt so natural, because they're... Family to me."

The family that slowly grew - and is still growing - during her time in school. They were there when they needed them too. It wasn't about favors, or because she wanted to be some sort of leader, or anything. It was about the bonds between them... That was the thing that she treasured the most, the thing she wanted Jericho to see when he was at his lowest point, when he attacked Mot. That was why, when she was hurting, Mot cheered her up even when he himself was down from his break-up. That was why she couldn't bring herself to stay upset at Mac or Hel. That was why Junko agreed to dance with Mac.

"They'll always be worth time and effort. If they... Do revert, I'll love them all the same. Well, with added frustration," She had at least stopped crying, managing a small smile as she intertwined her fingers with his, "Riley's not a weed. She was a part of this family." Distant aunt who paid bi-monthly visits, maybe?

"But the person who came to prom today... I refuse to see her as the same Riley," She continued, giving his hand a squeeze as she leaned against him, her free arm holding him close, "She just has her face, her voice, maybe even her mannerisms, but the most important thing that made her Riley - her memories - are gone... And if she regains them one day? She would just be tearing my wound open again." The last part was muttered and muffled as she nuzzled his chest, wanting to lay her head there forever.

"... Mac," She looked up at his face, both hands releasing the boil to push his mask up without hurting him. Caressing his face, she rubbed one thumb against his chin fuzz, letting out a giggle at how it felt on her skin. Her eyes fluttered closed as she tiptoed, kissing him on his lips; she didn't say anything more, but she hoped that he got her message.

Thank you.

Other Bathroom

Riyo couldn't be out in the open right now. Not with this water flowing out of her eyes and not with her heart practically pounding out of her chest. It had been a bad idea to leave her shoes behind. She might've run faster, but it was possible that a couple of glass shards from that damn chandelier had managed to weasel their way into her feet.

She didn't care what taboo might've been broken at the moment. What door she chose was pointless to think about. The ghoul simply burst through, searching for the best place to hide.

For anyone of a normal mindset, a stall would've been perfect. But not for Riyo. She needed somewhere dark and small. She needed... A cabinet?

Yep. The cabinet where they kept cleaning supplies. It was perfect. Small and discreet. Without one word, the ghoul practically slithered in like some kind of snake and jammed herself in the corner for some much needed thinking time. She could wait here until the party was over and nobody would even realize it. Then she could walk out with her tear stained face and there wouldn't be anyone to see.

How many people had just seen her cry? Had Hel? She knew Titus had. That thought alone hurt almost as much as what upset her in the first place.

She was disappointing him too.

The ghoul tried to hold in the sobs. She really did, but the occasional whimper and whine forced itself out.

In the end, the reason she was upset wasn't rocket science. She didn't know what to do with herself anymore. Trying to stay strong to protect herself only ended up pushing her friends away. It was selfish, but she could never be sure that they'd always be there. And the disappointment. Oh, the disappointment... The very thought of not living up to or exceeding a standard...

And that left her alone.

In a train car with only one seat, or on a bench in an empty park. That was how she felt. Stuck in some purgatory of feelings. Feelings...

Why couldn't she just be numb?

Mac considered her correction.

"I guess, but still...that's odd, coming from you." Less odd than what he imagined her words meant, but still odd enough to be noticed in his mind. As she refused his comment on recognition, he only shrugged once more. "I know you don't, but their changing is recognition enough; you were doing them a favour, by encouraging them." He assumed she had encouraged them, since it was somewhat out of character for her to hold someone at gunpoint to change their ways. "Family or not, they're still favours." He was adamant in this, frowning softly but allowing her to do as she pleased with his hand.

"Yes she is. Weeds keep coming back when you don't want them to." Mac chuckled darkly, still caught up on his hate Riley kick. There were few instances he had to give kudos to the mindflayer, but on the whole? Nope. "She was never a part of this family and Lizzy? Stop adopting your friends." He repeated with a huff, shaking his head. He never saw Riley often, especially around Lizzy...why bother inviting someone into a family (that shouldn't exist) if they're never there?

"Who knows, hun. By the time she gets them back your tune might change. This is new, yanno? It's fresh, it hurts...but that doesn't mean it'll stay this way forever." His thumbs gently brushed her face again, clearing as many tear streaks as he could. "I've never liked her, but you did. Who knows, those feelings could come back too." It was a little bit of a warning, but he had to say it, something in him wouldn't keep it pent up. He let her move his mask, leaning down as she tilted up to catch her lips with his.

He didn't get the message, but it was nice nonetheless.

Lizzy wasn't sure how long they stood there, kissing. Just that it was probably long enough to make up for the earlier interrupted wall-kiss

"... Maybe I'm just... In not a very good mood," She sighed, leaning away from Mac's lips and settling for snuggling against his chest again, dreading having to go back to the party. Dreading having to pretend to be alright; she's going to be standing on this side of the 'argument' alone, probably, "You made me feel lots better though." Maybe Mac's right. Maybe she'll actually be happy about this later. Maybe.

"But you just referred to them as family!" She pointed out, evidently happy that Mac used her term, rather than 'friends', even if she had a feeling that he wasn't going to associate himself with being the 'father' of this family, "A-and it's not like... I adopted a lot of them... Or anything..." Just a few, here and there...

"I think... I am ready to go back now," She decided, inhaling deeply - and feeling glad about the fact that the bathroom was recently washed - to calm her nerves as she put Mac's mask back in place, followed by her own. Unlocking the door, she peeked out, and looked around, making sure that the coast was clear before grabbing Mac's hand, and hightailing it out of the ghoul's bathroom.

She did not need questions regarding what they were doing together in the bathroom.

"Did not, and you'll never prove it." Mac grumped teasingly, shaking his head before lightly headbutting her. He knew he used Family, but it wasn't because they were one; it was because he was trying to put it into terms she'd understand, in her own language so to speak. That was his story, and he'd stick to it hell or high water! "...Everytime I talk to you there seems to be a new one. How can that not be less than a few?!" Ridiculous! His ghoul was ridiculous.

He leaned away as she unlocked and opened the door, making it quite clear that he didn't give a single damn as to what people thought of them in the bathroom together. He let her do her thing though, following her out of the bathroom and back to the party itself, his fingers linked with hers.

"Y-you can just call me Xiu, Siobhan," The baku squeaked, her cheeks reddening again as she pushed open the door to the bathroom, "I'm not really a princess, after all."

In her distraction, Xiu had pushed open the door to--and led Sio into--the "other" bathroom. It only took her a few seconds of entering and staring around to realize her mistake, but as she uttered a quick, embarrassed "oops!" and moved to lead her friend back outside, she noticed something...peculiar poking out of the cabinet here. It looked like...a tail? A cat tail.

...A very familiar cat tail.

Looking puzzled, Xiu moved forward, her arm still linked with the banshee's. As she approached the tail--and the figure hiding within the cabinet--she could make out the sound of sniffling. Crying? The baku cast a concerned look over to the banshee, and then reached up to pull her mask down, letting it hang around her neck.

"Riyo...?"

"Teehee~" Siobhan giggled, still so temped to call her Princess.

Wasn't this the Other bathroom? Not that she was judging you, Xiu but you seem to associate as female, and all. But then she too saw the tail. Heard the sniffling.

Arm in arm she followed Xiu, peeking around to see what was the deal.
