"You want to sleep now?" Harrison asked, sneaking his hands under Jordan's shirt and running his fingers lightly along his ribs. Jordan was entitled to it. And some rest would help everybody.
But he wasn't ready either.
"Sushi's not gonna keep."

Sleep would keep him from thinking about it too much. So would other things. "That's true," Jordan agreed. "I could probably be convinced."

Rep raised a brow and sat up enough to give both of them a suspicious look, one after the other. He didn't say anything.

"Good, cause I'm hungry," Harrison said, brushing his teeth across Jordan's neck before sitting up and leaning over to the bedside table.
He liberated the box of sushi, crossing his legs and smoothing out the blankets so he could put it between the three of them.
He lifted the lid.
There were three helpings of sushi, a little squashed and piled together and sticky with various sauces, but still good. He picked one of the clusters and a slice of fish up from one of the corners. He looked at it, then over at the other two.
"Forgot chopsticks," He apologized.

"Tease," Jordan grumbled, and sat up enough to lean over and get a piece of sushi for himself.

Food wasn't admittedly the first thing on Rep's mind at the interchange but it was a surprisingly pleasant surprise. He'd thought that the sushi meal was a lost cause, that he'd never get any of it. It was symbolic of the family he'd never have.
So maybe there was something in Harrison stealing some away covertly.
Maybe he wouldn't have a proper family round a table sort of dinner. But he had this, and for whatever reason, this was just as good.
He sat up and fished out some of the sushi for himself. He'd been to nauseous to eat before but for whatever reason, he felt like it now. "You think of everything."

"Except silverware," Harrison said, contenting himself to pick through with his fingers.
"And everybody having soyfish breath." He chewed without the discretion to appreciate the difference between grocery store sushi and the gourmet stuff Allan had bought, but at least they weren't going to bed on an empty stomach. Or with a half-full bed.
He smiled lopsidedly at Rep and Jordan and picked out the pink-orange shrimpy ones.
The emotion was still all there. All the crying and hugging and frailness wasn't that far away. But eating together in a circle around the box, with knees bumping and hands occasionally getting in each other's way, felt like touching on something even deeper below the fissures, instead of glossing over them. Harrison just wanted to be close and share something besides sad looks. It had happened. And there was more terrible s**t on its way tomorrow.
They'd all need that deeper, tougher something to get through it together.

There was something weirdly comforting about eating together, the three of them here and okay, even if that was a temporary state. "If everyone has soyfish breath," Jordan pointed out, "it really doesn't matter, right?" He took another piece. "It's good," he added.
There was a fragility about the moment, but it still made him feel hopeful.

Rep ate thoughtfully for a bit. He hadn't been a fan of seafood before the island but it was amazing what an existence on rations and fairly low grade food really made you appreciate. " Aye, I can live with finger food and bad breath. Good food is good food." There had probably been a lot worse last meals.
"Breath would never put me off anyway."

Harrison sucked the sauce off his thumb, and leaned over close enough so Rep could get the full effect. His mouth wasn't quite touching Rep's.
"Never, huh?" He asked more heavily than necessary.

It was almost a normal night, as quiet as it got living here; the anger and horror of the day seemed distant, just for now. "See, what I just said," Jordan pointed out, smiling a little. It'd be okay. He'd make it okay, somehow.

Rep smirked broadly, closing the distance and bringing up a hand to gently seize Harrison's chin. He kissed him deeply just to prove a point, before leaning back with a smirk.
"Aye. Never."
Jordan got a cheeky smile, a normal smile. With them, he could almost forget everything.

He'd only sort-of been hungry for sushi.
Harrison looked at Rep wantingly for a moment before breaking eye contact and fishing around for another roll. He barely paid attention to which one he picked up.
"Like you said," he acknowledged.

What Clarice had said about a support system was making sense in a more intimate and personal way now. The familiarity and comfort of their presence was calming; even though Rep had caused the half-buried anger and worry that lay under the surface, having him here was reassuring, and Harrison balanced and calmed them both. Jordan wondered briefly and guiltily how Rin and Jerry were dealing with the flood of their own emotion and trauma, but that, too, he set aside. Not tonight. If and when he knew that Rep would still be alive later, he'd deal with the rest of the fallout; if this was the last night they had, it could at least be peaceful.
He stretched out on his side, within easy reach of both of them. "You look hungry," he told Harrison.

The look Harrison gave him got a playful smirk in return. It was almost like he drew strength from both of them, using that borrowed stability to don his confident front again. He stretched lazily, still eyeing Harrison, even after he went back to the sushi.
His walked his fingers along Jordan's side in a silly doting little gesture as he turned the smirk to him too. "He's always hungry."
