"Very well, after this I will get it for you." Meaning she didn't want to rip her obi when her hands still had Hell-O on them. That might disturb the canine after all! "No? Surprising, but I imagine you have very impressive eyesight." This knowledge made her curious, but of course she remembered his large eyes; it made more sense that way, one sense died in favour of the other. She experienced the same, but in reverse. "I, however, have a very good sense of smell..." In a teasing manner she leaned over, briefly sniffing at him before giggling.
"Ah-ah!" The Engraver tsked, trying to flick his hand before he could withdraw it entirely. "If you bite me, Muka, I will bite back." Her promise of a threat made her tilt her head to look up at him, grinning.
As the chase began for the hell-o, Needle's amused smile turned into giggles, and the more excited he got and the more commentary he added, the more her giggles turned into outright laughter. It was ridiculous to treat food this way, and between that and the natural evasive slimey texture of the dessert itself made her unable to do anything other than laugh. Thankfully, there were no Engravers within reasonable walking distance, and she didn't have to worry about reprocussions from simple laughter.
"Ahhah! I think that one is a draw!" Under his talons her fingers flexed, curling under the piece of Hell-o to better be able to pick it up once he let her go.

"What do I smell like?!" He was intrigued. "I also have very good hearing." He cooed proudly.
He released her hands for her to finally eat the hell-o which left them only with a big bowl of pudding. Muka was a bit stuffed (for the moment) so he simply dipped his finger into the creamy concoction and licked it off of his finger.
To her biting comment he simply giggled. "Promises promises." It wasn't meant as innuendo. "Perhaps we should spar sometime." His teeth chittered. "I have recently come to appreciate battle slightly."

"I do, too." She wondered how they could do a hearing contest, too; now that she knew he could destroy her in eating, she was curious what this other sense they actually shared measured up. Sadly nothing came to mind, so she'd just have to leave the 'hearing contest' to speculation. On the subject of how the smelled, she looked down at her hands, watching the way they glowed with the ink that likely stained through to her ghostly core.
"Freedom." Needle murmured quietly, almost sheepishly. "I can smell the woods, I can smell blood...but it is very much airy. Not saturated in it, but it is there." She explained, trying to put it into words. Trying to explain scents to someone was a lot like someone explaining the scenery to her; they did their best, but whether or not it would translate properly was another story. "You smell very good, I like it." Very Halloween.
"I would love to spar one day, Muka. Perhaps if you are not sick of me after flying, and Prom? Unless you are eager to do it sooner~" She really did sound excited at the idea; she had only sparred once on Campus, with her sister; sure at the time it had brought grudges between them to the surface, but the rest of it was definitely fun. "However, I think you are at a natural advantage; I think you should get a visible tattoo before that!" She was teasing, of course! ...Or was she?

The strix listened carefully while she described his smell. He found it amazing that she could get all of that and experimentally sniffed himself. Nope... nothing.
"Why would I be sick of you?" Muka snickered. "There is no rush. What if we were wounded for prom? That would be unfortunate!" He patted her inked hand. "Once I am back in the monster dorms we can spar whenever you'd like!"
Her mention of the tattoo interested him slightly. The waiters finally brought the check and took away the dishes. Thankfully it was all you can eat so the bill was low. He immediately took it (but it was hand written, in ink razz ). "Tell me more about the tattoos? My brother has one on his back but I have never thought about them."

"It could happen, I hear." Granted, she had been with her sister and a handful of other women her entire life, and she had yet to get sick of them. Most of them. Her eyes, hidden by her mask, dropped to stare at his talons as he pat her hand, watching the way the ink vanished from sight, somewhat like watching shadows on a wall. "I will give you a day or so of rest, so we can both be at our best." She compromised with a small chuckle, one that turned into a low noise of disapproval.
For once, she didn't pounce on the mention of his brother's tattoo and ask a thousand questions on what it is, why he had it done, so on and so forth; but not amount of trying to steal a bill back could stop her from talking about what she loved. It distracted her from snatching the bill back right away.
"Engraver tattoos are different; your Brother likely went to a regular parlor, where they let you physically chose designs or create their own." She watched him as carefully as she could, trying to keep his attention so he wouldn't pay for the bill before she could get to it; the waiters were still giving them space, after all. "But we - and our ink - feel energy and emotions. You still technically choose the tattoo, but it's more of an unconscious thing, unless you focus entirely on a certain aspect~" For a moment she pressed her lips together, trying to find a better way to explain it, or at least find something that would make a good example. Ah, yes, she did have one! "Have you ever met a Reaper named 'Roch'? My sister and I did his tattoo; we encouraged him to meditate, to focus on something and stay focused on it. The tattoo presented itself in a musical tribal, quite pretty actually." Despite the fact that she was rambling, she was having a grand old time; she loved the tattoo aspect of being an Engraver. The rest of it was terrible, but the tattooing, the sounds of pain, the needle piercing the skin...she loved it. All of it.
"And...Ah-ah! No. This one is my treat!" She finally acknowledge that she had seen the bill, someone had the unknown kindness to write in ink after all! Her only lament was that the Monster had gotten to it before she could, and expertly tried to distract her with her gushing. That didn't stop her from trying to reach for it, attempting to steal it back from the much-too-kind boil now that she was done.

"So they are hmmm psychic perhaps?" He understood the concept of energy. Sometimes those with a strong aura set off his senses a bit but this was not some extra sense, it was just a feeling. "It's very interesting. Can you see the ink through clothing?"
He was idly looking over the bill until Needle said something. She had mentioned buying him a meal so he tentatively handed it over. "It's only proper for a gentlemonster to treat, Needle." He giggled.
"My father says all ghouls should cherish the free meals!" There were some other comments about how they only had a few good years of looks on them anyway. He had the sense not to share that.

"Sort of...more like, extremely empathetic." Psychic just wasn't the right term for it, and before empathy left her lips they squirmed thoughtfully. "I can not, if the tattoo is covered it is lost to me...except for see-through fabrics, then it's just dulled. Out in the open is the best!" Roch's was on his shoulder and he always wore sleeveless clothing; The Engravers pretty much wore what she did - though some went topless - leaving most of their tattoos in the open. She was just starting to understand that people tended to hide their tattoos, which in her mind was ridiculous. Why get it if you don't end up displaying it proudly?
Needle plucked the paper from his talons without a moment's pause. "You are certainly a Gentlemonster, Muka. I appreciate you going to such lengths for me, but I would like to do something in return." When the waiter returned, Needle drew a small bag from a hidden pocket in her sleeveless top, handing over the correct amount of seeds, plus a tip for helping them with their contest. The tip was given over with her gratitude, since the contest would have been much harder without them.
"When someone has been kind to me, I like to repay the favour." She informed him softly, looking up at him with a smile. "Shall we go, then?"

"Empathetic?" It was not a term or concept that he was familiar with. He was interested in her 'ink sight' though and nodded that he understood what she meant. Why have tattoos if they were not seen? His brother's at least came up over the collar of his shirt. You could see it on the back of his neck but Ulmuka knew his family and well and was confident that the other demon's bare back was being seen by many.
"If you insist." He chuckled. "It's ruder to argue with a lady than to go against her wishes."
After the money was forked over he rose from the chair and rested his fingers on her shoulder, an effort to guide her hand to his so he could escort her out. "I will walk you to you dorm before I head home." His phone buzzed. "That's probably my father or driver." The strix giggled, uncaring how many times the buzzing device sprang to life.

"Yes...It means the ink understands your feelings and uses us to...imprint them on you. Something like that." She could see his fluffy head nod, and that was a good indication that she didn't need to explain more about her ink sight.
"I insist." She giggled, turning her head to look up at him as his talons rested on her shoulder, her fingers sliding along until they found his. From there she got to her feet, brushing herself off with her free hand; her efforts to make herself presentable were paused however, as the sudden buzzing startled her. "Ah...so that is your phone?" Just when it felt like it was going to end, when it was going back to silence, it came to life again.
"Are you sure it is okay? I would not want to keep you." The buzzing continued. "They seem...very insistent." She understood that his relationship with his Father wasn't the best there was, but she wasn't sure if he was the type to get angry or violent if he was ignored; those were something she knew about, and didn't want him to suffer for his being a Gentlemonster to her.

"Ahh.. hmm.." The strix was actually mildly concerned. He knew he was slightly lacking in the feelings department. What if it didn't work or the tattoos were too strange?
The phone buzzing continued while Needle paid their bill. It was a combination of his family and prom arrangements he'd sent when they walked to the buffet. "The phone is awkward for my talons.." he snickered. "But it is very quick communication."
The polite monster walked her out and they began their walk home. "Oh I don't mind!" He suddenly looked devilish. "I've been very rebellious lately!"

"Rebellion! Such a sweet thing, is it not? So long as you do not cross boundaries." Needle giggled, pressing her cheek into the palm of her free hand as if fawning over the idea. Rebellious was practically her middle name back home, not that anyone thought that of her here; it was good right up until they decided to punish her by punishing Lattice. "Well, I am happy to be an accessory to your cause!"
The rest of the trip had been as amusing as the rest of it, and as they came to a stop in front of the Ghost Dorms, Needle turned to pat his arm.
"Here is close enough; I can make it to my room no problem." She assured him, stepping aside just enough to free her arm from his. The ghost turned to face him properly, looking up at him with a smile. "I had fun tonight, thank you." But before she could turn around, she made a small noise of realization and bowed her head, pressing her palms against the flat of her stomach and trailing them down the red line of her obi.
"I almost forgot!" She took up the tail end of the long piece of fabric, holding a generous length of it between her stained hands. "Ah...do you think you could...?" She held out the fabric, holding it taunt for him to cut it.

He tilted his head curiously at her when she extended her clothing edge to him. It took a moment for his bird-brain to figure it out. "Oooh!" He trilled and with a quick could of shredding swipes, he cut a tiny ribbon from the edge. It wasn't even noticable really.
"Thank you! I will send you a message with arrangements as soon as they are made. Someone will be by for your measurements very soon!" He took her hand again, bowing his head and pausing just a moment. His face seemed to screw up a bit and then quick, awkward, he actually kissed her knuckles politely (and avoided needles).
Of course when his head bobbed back up he was grinning again and no one would have been the wiser. Perhaps he was taking just a little bit of his father's advice. Honestly he was going through the courting motions... to try it out. It was almost like an experiment. Ghouls perhaps would not want to find out they were test subjects, so he didn't mention it. Thankfully though, Needle was very pleasant company.
"I hope you have an enjoyable evening. I will contact you soon!" He released her hand and giggled.

"No, Thank you! I look forward to hearing from you, this will be exciting!" The Obi, having served it's purpose, fell from her hands to settle the way it always did, trailing down her front in ink-stained tatters. When he took her hand up again, her head tilted curiously; it was different from the clacking of teeth he had done first...what inspired the change?
Had she known this was an experiment, she may have actually played along for the sake of learning.
But as it stood she was just sure this boil was unusually Gentlemonsterly, while being a very interesting type to 'hang out' with. "And you as well." The Strix received a smile before she offered a little bow, straightening and heading into the dorms.
